Rincewind Posted 3 February 2014 Posted 3 February 2014 She became 'famous' by being manipulative and a bitch on the apprentice a few years a go, and has recently become more known for making outrageous comments on Twitter and in her column, I think she got sacked by This Morning I think for going too far, she now hawks herself around as a controversial right wing rent-a-gob. So she got fired after being hired? Was she the one who claimed she was being picked on by Sugar and he said she got too ig for her boots? Fame seem to have gone to her head. Thinks she is so much better than everyone else.
Captain... Posted 3 February 2014 Posted 3 February 2014 Matthew wright is a terrible host, he can't control his guests, there is no debate just people scoring personal points off each other and shouting at each other. I don't think anyone has actually been able to make their point.

She didn't win it sugar binned her after realising she was just on the show to increase her media profile and already had a better job than the one she was applying for.
Captain... Posted 3 February 2014 Posted 3 February 2014 Gimme a job innit Currie's response is 'Get a job' I don't think this debate is going to go anywhere.
Guest MattP Posted 3 February 2014 Posted 3 February 2014 Currie's response is 'Get a job' I don't think this debate is going to go anywhere. Pointless, she showed in 30 seconds on that rant just how unemployable she was.
Guest MattP Posted 3 February 2014 Posted 3 February 2014 How didn't someone pull up White Dee when she said she didn't know the Romanians were in?
Captain... Posted 3 February 2014 Posted 3 February 2014 Pointless, she showed in 30 seconds on that rant just how unemployable she was. So what do you do with someone who has such an unpleasant personality that nobody would employ her. Just telling her to get a job isn't going to help, if you believe her she is trying to get a job, but nobody will employ her, what should a progressive modern society do?
Rincewind Posted 3 February 2014 Posted 3 February 2014 I had a letter from the In-Training work programme today saying I had an appointment. and failing to keep it would mean me losing my JSA. I had to call them up to say I no longer claim JSA. I had not heard from them since last July.
Rincewind Posted 3 February 2014 Posted 3 February 2014 30 seconds is all it takes for a lot of employers to reject applications. Too old, too young, unqualified, too qualified, wrong sex. They could be perfect but they have to start somewhere when they have 50 plus CV's in front of them. I think White Dee would be fun to work with. A sense of humour which was not shown in Benefits Street.
Vlad the Fox Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 Can't afford sky mate I work for a living. Found it on channel 44 Katie Hopkins is a vile woman. It's been a good start the man from the school trying to make a point that we need serious debate not name calling, to get cut off by Wright and told we don't have time for that. He cut the reporter off who was on after him as he was trying to make the same point as well. It was a badly picked panel, they didn't need to hire rent-a-gobs like hopkins who aren't capable of having an adult debate bringing nothing but typical generalisations and stereotypes to the table as the subject was emotive enough without having her in to stir things up. I guess she's a kind of media freak show. Jack wasted her chance by deciding to get drawn into an argument with edwina and then wondered why wright wandered off and left them to scrap it out. Like you said the chap from oasis started to try and make a fist of making it a serious debate but it was never going to happen and must have wondered why he ever agreed to do it. Channel five went for controversy and produced a car crash, it was hilarious watching it unfold as wright lost control and almost looked like he had gave up at one point. And what was the point of the benefits totaliser? Other than to stir people up or pointless gimmick. It turned into a battle of extreme left v right. Name calling and general irrelevance.
Rincewind Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 There are no debates though. Nobody wants to stir it. Certain papers fund certain parties so won't print anything that hurts their circulation. Conspiracy theory I hear you cry. Would YOU bite the hand that feeds you?

Rincewind Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 Was she the one who said she did voluntary work/ She may be a nurse in which case you would not worry if she said 'I think he is going to make it innit' if she had just administered life saving drugs.

ADK Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 I've not watched it but I bet she could do some work. We just don't have enough of the right work available in this country or we give to foreigners.
MooseBreath Posted 4 February 2014 Author Posted 4 February 2014 So what do you do with someone who has such an unpleasant personality that nobody would employ her. Just telling her to get a job isn't going to help, if you believe her she is trying to get a job, but nobody will employ her, what should a progressive modern society do? Cut her hand outs, she'll soon get a job then. Obviously you're using the phrase "modern progressive society" as a shield against having to make tough decisions, but in the real world 'modern' means taking into account all that we know ie that hand outs are ruining these people's lives, it's a lifestyle choice, they don't actually want to work while they're getting paid to sit around doing nothing all day etc. and a 'progressive society' is one which seeks to make progress. As much as you might wish it was so, there is nothing about a modern progressive society that rules out the idea of imposing short term pain in order to reap the rewards of long term gain. I suspect your idea could be more accurately described as coming from a "status quo society", where we just keep paying these people to vote Labour and hope it all quietens down soon. Maybe plant some corporation tax stories in the guardian as a diversion. Do everything you can not to have to actually tackle the issue.

Just telling her to get a job isn't going to help, if you believe her she is trying to get a job, but nobody will employ her, what should a progressive modern society do? No idea to be honest, we seem to be creating more of these people, her kids will be the same as well in all likelihood. While we have governments that pay for these people to breed and stay in squalor it will continue to happen. We have to stop lowering the bar in society. The whole program was comical to be honest, Owen Jones, numerous butch Lesbians, far more left wingers than rights on the panel and in the audience, transexuals, Penny Red, whatever that gay bloke was with the red hair, just freak after freak being put on show in some desperate attempt to convince us that the majority of people are like this, where are they? None of them live near me thank god. And of course lets drag the most repugnant right winger we can find on just to get our own point of view across even more. White Dee openly lying about the Romanians (to applause ), no one pulling her up on it. She also got a cheer when announced she had Bopolar, is that an illness that entitles you to a free life courtesy of the tax payer these days? This isn't going to change now, they continually wheel out these freaks who benefit from writing about these people and they try and make out it's actually an ok way to live, then you have the even bigger class warriors like Rincewind who not only feel this is a ok way to live but actually a noble one that should be encouraged because in his own weird way he sees it some sort of attack on the rich and the establishment. The World has gone bonkers, god knows what we will have created in 25 years, streets like James Turner Street will probably have become the norm and Channel 5 will be wheeling out peadophiles, trannys, gays, midgets, freaks, the disabled to all gang up on some white middle class person on stage like a zoo to tell them how evil they are for only paying 90% tax. What do we do about it? No idea, stop paying these people to breed for a start, yes it will, be harsh for a few years but at least they'll get the message eventually. No chance of it happening though, the political elite (left and right) seem happy to let these people rot, they probably fear the alternative could be worse.

Seen some envy ridden nonsense in my life but that takes the piss, its not even funny. Tha Guardian actually having the gall to accuse others of tax avoidance?
Captain... Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 With regards White Dee, she knew about the first family of Romanians on the show, the bin dippers, but I don't remember any interaction with the second group that were working and living in squalor. It could have been she was referring to them. Anyway it was an off the cuff comment and doesn't make her a liar. There are some people out there that are just unemployable, the only solution is to get the re-trained on a specific program, even if it is just in how to talk to people, but that costs a lot of money and requires expertise in the job centre to identify and help people get a job, rather than give them forms to fill in and money in return for jumping through hoops. I honestly think the solution is a massive overhaul of the job centre, it is appalling. Oh my god. Seen some envy ridden nonsense in my life but that takes the piss, its not even funny. Tha Guardian actually having the gall to accuse others of tax avoidance? I think that was the point, to take the piss. Does the Guardian dodge tax?

She said "You're behaving like those Romanians" then claimed no one knew they were living there! Just have a google, they are very creative let's say. (and btw I think there is nothing wrong with that, just the hypocrisy has to be pointed out) Not bad getting a rebate on that profit!
Webbo Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 I honestly think the solution is a massive overhaul of the job centre, it is appalling. I think that probably right but can you imagine how demoralising it must be working there, dealing with these people everyday? Abuse, threats and excuses it's enough to make anyone cynical and indifferent. Not fair on the genuine job seekers though who really do want help finding a job.

No one would be allowed to do it anyway, we'd all be told it's another attack on the poor by the evil Tories etc etc and then go into a rant about bankers, landlords, unions etc to divert the debate away from this sort of thing again.
