White Dee isn't a liar? She said "You're behaving like those Romanians" then claimed no one knew they were living there!

Just have a google, they are very creative let's say. (and btw I think there is nothing wrong with that, just the hypocrisy has to be pointed out)

Thats what you pay accountants for is it not? Beside they made an operating loss and propped up the balance sheet in selling an asset. It would be more interesting to see how much tax they have paid in recent years

Absolutely, as I have said I have no problem with paying a good accountant to pay as little tax as possible.

When the papers brings out it communists, sorry columnists   like Toynbee, Jones etc to rant at Amazon and Starbucks etc for doing the same thing though it stinks of hypocrisy.

Though it shouldn't surprise anyone given how they also seem to rant at private schools despite half them time attending them themselves.

What do people who complain about the job centre think they should do better?

I don't know much about it but they seem to advertise quite a lot of jobs as well as offering training courses and guidance on CV writing etc. There's surely only a certain amount of responsibility the job centre can take away from individuals. They can't walk everyone through the entire process.

One thing I've noticed is that while private employers aren't obliged to advertise through the job centre, the pool of jobs available through them is a lot smaller than it could be. Maybe some central approach to job vacancies which means they all go through the job centre might help. But that would be a big undertaking and doubtless cost a fortune to implement through the public sector.

A couple of months back, Private Eye listed prominent Guardian writers/editors who attended private schools - and it was most of them! Here's a link: http://liberalengland.blogspot.co.uk/2013/11/the-educational-background-of-guardian.html

People don't choose where they go to school at 11 - but The Guardian clearly chooses to mainly employ writers with a private school education, which is a disgrace. I'm sure the same applies at the Times, Telegraph etc, not to mention the professions, Westminster etc. It was mainly John Harris who slagged off private schools recently, though, and he went to a state school.

You ought to consider subscribing to Private Eye, Matt. You get a much better understanding of how the country operates than by reading either the Guardian or the Telegraph - as well as a lot of laughs, even if it's enough to make you seriously cynical about humanity. All for less than £30 per year (£1 per issue): http://www.private-eye.co.uk/

I often pick up a copy if I'm getting the train. It's a very good read, you know anything that Ian Hislop edits should be half decent.

Really? Just came across like a twattish comment to me

It was a cynical dig at the considered truth that everyone on benefits spends their money my tax money on fags and booze and have massive TVs and Sky dishes outside their houses. I don't actually have Sky, but that is because I don't think it is good value.

Who says that then?

White Dee or Anne Widdecombe?

Probably Anne because I think White Dee's had fungi in her snatch.

Dolescum

Adj. Derogatory Term:

Someone who claims DSS benefits whilst sitting on their asses all day, and watching bad daytime TV, hooked up to the satelite dish that they got to keep their 9 kids quiet... And living off a diet of Kebab (see Yakult) Super-Lager and Trisha on channel 5.

May not be the most widespread of stereotypes of the dole scum, but it certainly is one I've seen and read many times.

I think that probably right but can you imagine how demoralising it must be working there, dealing with these people everyday? Abuse, threats and excuses it's enough to make anyone cynical and indifferent. Not fair on the genuine job seekers though who really do want help finding a job.

Can you imagine how demoralising to be called scum and a shirker every time you sign on. Plus people telling you how to live your life and looking at you as if you were shit then calling you a liar.

Has that ever happened to you? Have you ever witnessed that yourself, every time?

And?

White Dee has satellite tv despite not working, most people would probably consider that unfair.

Should these things be ignored? It's clearly happening.

I was turning the tables. The JC is a depressing place. I wanted to get out asap. The staff have targets to meet with sanctioning and quite a few of them dread going in to work and say they have to leave empathy behind. They want to help but are just puppets in the system.
