Ealing Fox Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 Great way to start a Monday: Picking up a financial newspaper on the underground and finding unexpected talk of Leicester. Here’s the web version: http://www.cityam.com/article/1389582769/sport-comment-old-school-thrills-abound-beyond-top-flight Worth a read. The last line is still stuck in my head.
Manwell Pablo Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 Great way to start a Monday: Picking up a financial newspaper on the underground and finding unexpected talk of Leicester. Here’s the web version: http://www.cityam.com/article/1389582769/sport-comment-old-school-thrills-abound-beyond-top-flight Worth a read. The last line is still stuck in my head. Unfortunately he isn't quite correct there imo whilst Friday was a decent game played in the right way (with decent ref to boot) I wouldn't for a second suggest every Championship game is like that.
MC Prussian Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 Decent read. But as Manwell already pointed out, last Friday's game was hardly a true reflection of the Championship on the whole. You won't find such a spectacular display in this division on a regular basis - it's still pretty much a rougher and tougher competition than in the top flight. Besides, there's still a fair bit of feigning injuries and time-wasting in general, albeit not on such a scale as it is in the Premier League.
Ealing Fox Posted 13 January 2014 Author Posted 13 January 2014 Totally agree that Friday wasn't reflective of your typical Championship game. That said I'm sure most see that there is a bit less of the "divas and divers" than you get in the Premier League - albeit I can't wait to be back.... I would like to think that we don't fully lose our method and attitude when we finally get there again.
TrentFox Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 So weird. I had almost exactly the same thought pattern yesterday afternoon watching Newcastle - Man City .... over another key 'irritant' he forgot to highlight .... players bickering with officials. It makes my blood boil - and achieves little, except usually a booking. Will be gutted if our team ever resort to such 'spoilt-brat' tactics. Can't recall the last time I saw a bad example of that from us ??
ealingfox Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 Seeing double! I think we need to have a chat "Ealing Fox"...
Ealing Fox Posted 13 January 2014 Author Posted 13 January 2014 I'm very happy to change my name ealingfox!
ealingfox Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 I was thinking more - how on earth is there another Leicester fan in Ealing?!? Usernames are probably just about different enough, look forward to collaborating in future threads!
Bilbo Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 Nice little article and pretty bang on. Friday's game was a joy to watch and what being a football fan is all about. I thought the ref had a particularly good game and let play flow.
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 John Inverdale is a blue, is a blue, is a blue 'e 'ates Derby
Carl the Llama Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 You lot only like it because it asserts that we will absolutely 100% be in the Premier League next year. Otherwise it's just a pointless puff-piece making inaccurate claims about our league.
Newcastle_Fox Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 I'm another Ealing fox but still have my Newcastle fox name from when I was at university there - I'll keep it at Newcastle fox as we cant have three Ealing foxes!
Larry_LCFC Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 Bloody West Londoners Southerners. Can't trust them.
Deucalion Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 I think the Ealing Fox who has correctly capitalised should get dibs on the name !!
Ealing Fox Posted 13 January 2014 Author Posted 13 January 2014 I think the ealing fox who posted 2,100 times deserves it more than the one that posted 8 times...
Larry_LCFC Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 I think the ealing fox who posted 2,100 times deserves it more than the one that posted 8 times... I think the Ealing Fox who has made 8 valued, well thought through posts deserves it more than the ealingfox who has made us endure 2100 posts of horseshit
ealingfox Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 Guys, we can all be Ealing foxes...If there's one thing Ealing needs, aside from a half-decent nightclub, its more Leicester fans I think the Ealing Fox who has made 8 valued, well thought through posts deserves it more than the ealingfox who has made us endure 2100 posts of horseshit
Larry_LCFC Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 Guys, we can all be Ealing foxes...If there's one thing Ealing needs, aside from a half-decent nightclub, its more Leicester fans Let it all out, can't be easy having to live in ealing x
Newcastle_Fox Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 Guys, we can all be Ealing foxes...If there's one thing Ealing needs, aside from a half-decent nightclub, its more Leicester fans Agreed with the nightclub - I've had to experience Red Rooms once, it was horrific! My friends have been to Karma but quickly left as they may have needed a stab vest! O'Neills on a Friday or Saturday is also best avoided but then the danger is from old women hitting on you! Ealing also needs some decent football boozers to watch the games. Any recommendations? We sometimes go to the New Inn (though the landlord is a big cardiff fan and will rip Leicester to shreds) or O'Neills but they often only show just premiership games or will make an exception if QPR are playing!
Larry_LCFC Posted 13 January 2014 Posted 13 January 2014 Think we have taken this slightly off topic, and I like it Can we rename it The Official Ealing Thread?
