Mack Posted 22 January 2014 Posted 22 January 2014 With all this media talk of Kasper going to Milan I got to thinking about goalkeepers, and to Julio Cesar. The Brazilian international keeper is still on QPR's books although never plays or is involved in the match day squad. He's not on loan either, he's just rotting away no doubt earning a fortune whilst, well, who knows? Golf, Tennis, Holidays, you name it. I know he'll be on a tidy wage but you'd think so of the big Italian clubs would have come calling by now, even if for a loan and partial payment of his wages. Seems an odd one to me.
Donut Posted 22 January 2014 Posted 22 January 2014 I suppose if hes under contract, and QPR gave him a generous contract, with little hope of getting an equivalent deal somewhere else, then hes doing a Winston Bogarde and taking the dosh. Not doing his international credentials much good i wouldnt have thought.
Ric Flair Posted 22 January 2014 Posted 22 January 2014 Reminded me of Malouda last season, didn't play for the first team or the reserves. Probably didn't even have to go training, just took home 6 figures a week and pottered about.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 22 January 2014 Posted 22 January 2014 He's had many offers, I pressume they haven't matched the wage he's currently on
Mack Posted 22 January 2014 Author Posted 22 January 2014 From what I've read he is still Brazil's #1. You'd think with a World Cup looming in his home nation he's be doing everything he could to get game time for a major club somewhere and ensure his place at the World Cup?
Guest MattP Posted 22 January 2014 Posted 22 January 2014 According to Marcotti in the Telegraph last year he was on a six figure weekly salary. No idea if he had that reduced upon relegation and with it being QPR you wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't. He has no worries about retaining his Brazil place, his backup is Victor who despite winning the Copa isn't considered anywhere near as good.
Donut Posted 22 January 2014 Posted 22 January 2014 If youre going to offer someone a six figure salary in the first place, and then not put some clauses in it as contingency plans for relegation and such, then I think the player is within his rights to see the time out on his contract. Its the clubs fault for putting players on ridiculous deals.

Freeman's Wharfer Posted 22 January 2014 Posted 22 January 2014 He played against Everton in the FA Cup the other week. Being completely wasted that aside mind.
Mack Posted 22 January 2014 Author Posted 22 January 2014 Why doesn't he play at the moment? Because he told Redknapp he wanted away in the summer.
21st Century Fox Posted 22 January 2014 Posted 22 January 2014 Apparently Sunderland were after him but he wasn't willing to drop his 96k a week wages.
Buzzell Posted 22 January 2014 Posted 22 January 2014 Because he told Redknapp he wanted away in the summer. Fair play for him wanting to leave. But I'd still start him over Rob Green any day.
deejdeej Posted 23 January 2014 Posted 23 January 2014 A goalkeeper that is going to start for Brazil... as in the world cup favourites, not making it into a championship side does baffle the mind. Football is a crazy game.
Darkon84 Posted 23 January 2014 Posted 23 January 2014 As far as I was aware, he kept asking to move away, so he could play first team football in order to make sure his place was cemented as Brazil's #1 come the summer. However, he's just being a selfish square faced idiot and refusing to drop his wages
deejdeej Posted 23 January 2014 Posted 23 January 2014 I agree that he's probably morally wrong.. but QPR deserve everything they get.. giving him that contract when they knew they could go down is suicidal.
21st Century Fox Posted 23 January 2014 Posted 23 January 2014 You'd imagine that he isn't playing for financial reasons rather than just because he asked for a move away. If he's on £96k a week and still the best keeper in the league they'd surely still play him regardless if it meant getting promotion. It's more likely he on a ridiculous appearance and clean-sheet bonus, that they didn't downgrade when they got relegated.
Richard Posted 23 January 2014 Posted 23 January 2014 Pretty sure they signed him on a 4 year deal. Ludicrous if so, especially as he's not exactly young
