I was one of the people who bought a single share off Leicester market for £1......all part of the 'Pierpoint Out' crusade.  Not sure what point I was making at the time, but I did receive a glossy report at the end of the financial year - which made for interesting reading.

I know it's probably not popular, but I have changed my opinion of those events back in the 90's.

A very good friend, who worked at the club with Pierpoint during that period has described him as a thoroughly decent chap who was only concerned with the well being of the club & it's staff.

MON brought us a lot of success on the pitch.  In retrospect, I didn't particularly like how he held the club & fans to ransome.....threatening to quit every 5 minutes unless he got what he wanted.  Pierpoint was portrayed as the bad guy & I'm not quite sure why?

It seems that people still want to make him out to be the villain.  Can anyone remind me why?

Praps because he came over as thinking he was more important and what he did was more important than the team and what MON did.

I don't think MON was holding anyone to ransome more like he was making the point about Pierpoint.

Pierpoint went on the power trip MON was letting him know he was not bigger than the club ant team.

Didnt MON want the ground capacity to increase to 40k, Pierpoint opposed this, MON left, soon after (I think) Pierpoint left

Just think what if? Still we wouldnt have enjoyed this rollercoaster ride since then would we!

We were all wrong about Pierpoint. The row with MoN wasn't about ground capacity, it was about fiscal control - the extent to which a manager could demand spending on players without any reference to the overall financial strategy of the club. I idolised MoN as much as any of us, but his victory ensured that after he'd left us that twat Peter Taylor could spend as if there was no tomorrow, buying so many overpriced shite players it bankrupted the club.

I personally wish MON had been allowed to spend what he liked.  The club should've been a bit more reticent about what Taylor spent.

So rather than having a policy on manager spending, it would've made more sense to judge what MON had done with little money and trust his judgement while being a little more cautious with a manager who had never managed in the top flight.

Obviously hindsight helps greatly in my judgements above, and you are probably right that we were played by MON while never really knowing the full story.

The guys is a tosser of the highest order.

After his football career crashed he went into several design and marketing agencies ..... My small young company at the time was in the finals for a prestigious award and at the ceremony (which he was a paying guest at nothing more) he came over, asked our turnover and then said to call him when it was double and "he'd buy us".

12 months later he'd steered the once successful company he took over into liquidation.

He has failed in absolutely every position he's been in (and he's been in a lot!!) .... and keeps getting jobs based on his time at LCFC .... a time where anyone could run a successful football club - Sky were knocking on your door every few months and giving you a barrow full of money - all you had to do was answer the door!!!!
