LanguedocFox Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 Comparing them to Reading - didn't really add in the summer, just kept their squad together as best they could - and Wigan - lost a number of good players (McCarthy, Di Santo, Kone, Figueroa, Alcaraz as examples) and only added a couple of replacements: getting in £19m and spending £5m - is a bit deceptive QPR meanwhile have kept all but Taarabt, Samba, Mbia, Remy & Park Ji-Sung, and added Asso-ekotto, Krancjar, Doyle, Dunne, Benayoun, Austin, Phillips & O'Neil - lost a couple of good players and brought in 5 internationals, 2 who set the championship alight last season and plenty of prem experience. For the dealings made, they should be doing far better, but Redknapp isn't good enough to do so. As I say, I am no fan of Redknapp, but my point is simply that - for whatever reasons - QPR are doing better than either Reading or Wigan this season and, unlike either of them, have not been out of the top four or five places. I am not sure of what kind of contract Redknapp is on, but I suspect he will be gone come the summer, whether they get promoted or not. But getting rid of him now would be disruptive and counter-productive. That's all.

Guest MattP Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 Harry making a last ditch desperate phone call according to Talksport to try and get Defoe in on loan until he goes to Canada in 3 weeks.
Guest MattP Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 He's actually embarrassing Honestly think if Defoe replied with "I can give you 20 mins in the first half" Harry would snap him up.
inckley fox Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 100% with Col on the Huntley reference: not funny in any way at any time, ever. How long has to pass before people are allowed to laugh at bad things?
davieG Posted 26 February 2014 Author Posted 26 February 2014 I think we could change the title to -'Still talking about Redknapp'
Guest Col city fan Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 If Redknapp IS trying to sign Bent then yes, that's embarrassing and would be the actions of a desperate man IMO. I've tried to give another side of an argument to this thread (with little success) rather than the boring one-liners of those who 'think he's a fackin cant'. But keeping on signing players in a deperate bid to get promotion is ridiculous.
Corky Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 Harry making a last ditch desperate phone call according to Talksport to try and get Defoe in on loan until he goes to Canada in 3 weeks. Why does he want players now who he didn't really rate at former clubs?

Not really Col, people have made some pretty decent ponts consistently backed up with facts that clearly show in most peoples eyes how overrated he is. You have often skirted around them with some very random and bizarre responses that appear to try and obfuscate what a clear majority would see as the truth.

That said on current form they are awful 2001-2002 season 15-03-2002 played points Man city 38 80 Wolves 39 78 West brom 38 67 21-04-2002 played points Man city 46 99 West brom 46 89 Wolves 46 86 11 point overhaul in 8 games, promoted teams Man city, west brom and birmingham. Id say plenty of twists yet to come.

You may not agree with the views but I'd say most of his detractors have at least come up with reasons as to why he is not well liked and overrated, not just called him names.
