davieG Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Harry Redknapp hails Derby boss but admits QPR are out to overhaul Leicester at topHarry Redknapp, manager of Queens Park Rangers (right), and Derby counterpart Steve McClaren. Photo by Justin Setterfield/Getty ImagesSunday, February 9, 2014 1:56 PM Harry Redknapp enlisted Steve McClaren to boost QPR’s promotion hopes but on Monday night the former England boss will be out to derail Rangers’ bid to return to the Premier League. In the summer Redknapp gave McClaren a coaching role at Loftus Road following ill-fated spells at Nottingham Forest and FC Twente in Holland. McClaren quickly rediscovered his enthusiasm and subsequently took over at Derby, who he has guided into the thick of the Championship promotion race. The Rams now lie just four points behind Redknapp’s Rangers ahead of Monday’s showdown between the two sides at the iPro Stadium. “Coming here was good for him,†revealed Redknapp. “He’d been abroad and to Forest where it hadn’t worked out, so to get back to coaching for a few months was something he could just enjoy with no pressure. “He was always going to go back into managing but when you are a coach, everyone likes you, you aren’t picking the team! “Steve is cool and calm, a very good coach. He’s well organised, knows the game and I enjoyed having him here. “He’s done a good job at Derby. For sure they are promotion contenders. We are all chasing Leicester at the moment, they arerunning away with it a little bit but you never know. “There are about six or seven teams chasing them and Derby are one of them. “It’s a very tight division and it’s going to go right down to the wire.†The Championship may be as congested as ever but Redknapp insists he is not thinking about the play-offs, and instead has not ruled out overhauling the Foxes at the top. He added “They’e got a great advantage, you’d like to be in their position but it can change quickly with three or four games without a win so you never know. “I don’t think about the play-offs. I’m just concentrating on getting up automatically, that’s what we want to do.â€
The Year Of The Fox Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 No doubt harry will get lambasted on here now but the fact is he's right. It'll only take two or three games to turn it on its head. Cmon Derby
yorkie1999 Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 No doubt harry will get lambasted on here now but the fact is he's right. It'll only take two or three games to turn it on its head. Cmon Derby Eight games. We have to lose 4 and they have to win 4
Jimmy Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Eight games. We have to lose 4 and they have to win 4 Seven. We still have to play them again at home
Happy Fox Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 QPR need to win their next two games, for me to start taking notice of them, FACT is we are the only team that looks like title contenders it is ours to lose and we won't lose it come on City lets get the job done, which I am sure we will do!
Langston Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 In the summer Redknapp gave McClaren a coaching role at Loftus Road following ill-fated spells at Nottingham Forest and FC Twente in Holland. I thought McClaren did fairly well in Holland and it was Wolfsburg where he had a shit time of it?
Guest ttfn Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 I thought McClaren did fairly well in Holland and it was Wolfsburg where he had a shit time of it? He went back and did pretty badly.

Bert Posted 10 February 2014 Posted 10 February 2014 Eight games. We have to lose 4 and they have to win 4What if they win every time we lose though?
davieG Posted 10 February 2014 Author Posted 10 February 2014 http://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/redknapp-leicester-can-still-be-caught
Happy Fox Posted 10 February 2014 Posted 10 February 2014 Harry should be more concerned about the teams below him rather than us!
yorkie1999 Posted 10 February 2014 Posted 10 February 2014 What if they win every time we lose though? They will be a point above us.
Kitchandro Posted 10 February 2014 Posted 10 February 2014 What if they win every time we lose though? Well they're likely to drop points in different games.
FoxG2 Posted 10 February 2014 Posted 10 February 2014 According to Leicester Mercury, Redknapp is insisting that Leicester can still be caught. QPR have two games in hand, if they win those they will be 5 points behind us and our next game is a difficult away trip to Forest. I'll be routing for Derby tonight.
Beliall Posted 10 February 2014 Posted 10 February 2014 whats he gonna say? "its all over?" way to motivate your team buddy
CKB Posted 10 February 2014 Posted 10 February 2014 No shit Sherlock! Give that Redknapp an A+ in stating the ****ing obvious....
Bilbo Posted 10 February 2014 Posted 10 February 2014 What he says is true. We are at a crucial point in the season where it would be so easy for us to take our eye off the ball. We need to be focused now more than ever. All it takes is a couple of losses and that 11 point lead can quickly disappear.
Bert Posted 10 February 2014 Posted 10 February 2014 Well they're likely to drop points in different games. But what if they don't?
Kitchandro Posted 10 February 2014 Posted 10 February 2014 But what if they don't? What if they win every match until the end of the season?
Uncle Albert Posted 10 February 2014 Posted 10 February 2014 Always baffles me when people say "If we win our two games in hand" well yeah, but you haven't won them games.. Then to make the 5 points up Leicester would have to lose 2/3 games and again QPR would have to win 2 games.. Such a stupid mentality, points on the board do the talking. Games in hand mean absolutely nothing, especially in the Championship. Cheap attempt at mind games from Saggy Redknapp.
Captain... Posted 10 February 2014 Posted 10 February 2014 whats he gonna say? "its all over?" way to motivate your team buddy Seems to work for Mourinho.
Beliall Posted 10 February 2014 Posted 10 February 2014 that 11 point lead will disappear, may as well brace ourselves, there every chance QPR will gain momentum if they win both their 'in-hands. going to be an exciting finish to the season to be sure. lets hope we can get a win at the city ground, then maybe we can start another good run.
Bert Posted 10 February 2014 Posted 10 February 2014 What if they win every match until the end of the season? You should never answer a question with a question. But good luck to them if they do.
