Leicester City can still be caught... Arry Redknapp!

I asked this before and got no answer. With who they've sold/loaned out and who they've signed/loaned in, have they actually spent much? I assume they still probably have. Genuine question.

Well we know Austin and Phillips cost about 12million between.

Kranjcar you would imagine would be heavy considering Kiev paid 9million for him, imagine Henry was fairly cheap, Chevanton would have been pricy (why does he never play) Onyewu and Benayoun you would imagine are on decent wages.

Imagine BEA, Carroll, Maiaga, Doyle and Morrison would all have had at least small fees paid for with big wages taken on.

Jenas was what? 3million? Ben Haim and Young? Decent money.

Added onto what they already were paying and I's say not being up by April would be considered worrying at best and a disaster at worst.

Austin and Phillips were the best part of £10 mil between them

Can't be long before he gone, he is absolutely useless.

Appointing Harry to your football club is akin to letting Gordon Brown look after your gold or Ian Huntley babysit your children.

do you mean the guy who brutally ended the life of two young girls? good point, quite a good analogy.

So many people jumping yet again! QPR have spent the bulk of the season top and are now having a blip at exactly the wrong time. This don't make them shite or Harry Redknapp a t..t.

Give it time boys and girls... if they are still struggling near the end of the season then you are spot on. But QPR could easily still get promoted and if they do, Redknapp would have done a job. If not, I suspect he's gone. The interesting thing will be whether he gets the push beforehand.

No, it just makes him overrated and unable to get either the best out of his squad or the right squad together.

No idea to be honest.

They posted losses of 28.5million last July though and expect it to be double that this year, so factor in a parachute payment thats around half a reg prem payment and he's probably added about 25% onto what the bill was last season.

We wont know exactly until the end of May.

Chevanton was only there for about 2 months.

Also, Col, the point is less what Redknapp has spent net and more what the club has spent net. Redknapp himself has probably not added significantly to the wage bill, but that's not the point. Given that they got relegated last year, the wage bill should have been absolutely slashed. By roughly maintaining the status quo he has in effect "spent money" given the paucity of the opposition his side is facing this year compared with last.

That I can agree with.

You don't get respected papers like the Times speculating that QPR are looking at other managers (ambitiously Laudrup) without a good source.

A Guardian journalist on this weekends match report was saying that the inner workings of the club are just all wrong. Fernandes has brought in blokes at board level who just don't know the game well enough. Bit like Forest, whether promotion occurs or not, it will end ugly unless the owners begin to take sound advice.

Something very fishy about three or four of their signings this year. Signed, never or barely played and subsequently released.

Burnley is a shithole and tinpot gates although I hate sheepshagging bastards Dierby i want them to get the second spot, because it is an easy 6 points next season

How  can you say they get tin pot gates the population  is 50000  so they average   just   under a third of the population  Leicester under 10%

I think thats probably the issue. QPR appear to be running exactly like a club shouldn't be run. Starting with Hughes and now Redknapp, there seems to be major problems within that can't be easily turned around.

Again, its not Arry's money, its the club's money. Like Sven at Leicester, who was the biggest fool? The clown in charge or the clown(s) that hired him?

City have turned this around, and just in time it would appear as we could easily have taken a downward spiral, with Pearson as a stabilising influence both on the field and, I should suspect, off it.

The happenings at QPR are laid squarely at Redknapp's door but which of us can really know what is going on at the club?

With the turmoil the club was clearly in and still appears to be, there IS an argument, like it or not, that Redknapp has done not a bad job to keep the team in with a shout of promotion when they could easily have plummetted very quickly given the squad of misfits they had.

Listening to Brendan Rogers on TalkSport this evening, he mentioned Redknapp in a very positive way in the development of his own career (I think). And Rogers is an excellent young British manager who I have respect for.

If this is going to be Redknapp's final swansong then sobeit. I've always liked and enjoyed the way he puts himself across and again, like it or not, he has had his fair share of success. QPR football club appears to be in a right ol mess and it looks to be something that even Arry can't put right.

But its not Redknapp's money.. its the Chairman's money. If he's allowed Arry to spend lots of it, unchecked, then more fool him.

I really just don't get you on this Col.

Pearson had a club in turmoil that was mid table, players he didn't want, blending in new signings and led a team to sixth and you said it was time to go.

Harry has a wage will about five times what Nige did, a load of Premier League Internationals still in the squad, was allowed to buy argubly the best two players in this division for 10-12million, can pick up more Internationals on loan, he's one position higher than the situation above and you think he's "done not a bad job"

Honestly don't get how you can reconcile the two points and come to the conclusions you do.

Matt, your feelings on Redknapp are pretty clear. You obviously don't like him and don't rate him. Like most people in this thread, they are ready to twist the knife in at their first opportunity.

I've also made it clear... I've always thought he's ok.

What I dont get is this seeming hatred towards the bloke? He's done well for himself in football, gets on with the media and is held in high esteem by some of his fellow managers.

Is the dislike of him borne out of envy? Genuine question.

Finally, the season is NOT YET OVER.. QPR could still get promotion and if so, Arry will be praised for getting up at his first attempt. Much like Allardyce was a couple of seasons ago, and he only sneaked in through the back door with West Ham. Alternatively, if they dont go up, Redknapp I guess, will be sacked, if not beforehand.

No offence meant, but you are jumping on the usual bandwagon of criticising an opposition manager without all the facts.

It does seem like QPR has got issues going on in the background which may be making Arry's job harder?

I really don't know, but the point is neither do you. I reserve judgement on Redknapp's managerial skills till later in the season. If he fooks it up, then his reputation will take a nosedive.

As a bloke, I've always liked him. He usually has a good word to say about other managers, he has respect in the footballing world and has been very succesful in the business.

You stick the knife into him if you want to. Personally, I don't want to.

Managers are judged by what happens on the pitch, if there are any dodgy goings on in the background then it is Harry's job to keep them there. Remember Mickey Adams and our promotion season, financial meltdown off the pitch, but on it he kept it together and got promotion. If there are any problems with the owners, it has not stopped them backing him, he has had unprecedented backing in the January transfer window and they have been shit ever since. Ok he lost Austin, but he failed to address the lack of goals before his injury and has had a typical Harry approach after he got injured of bringing in 4 strikers to replace one man. His record at spurs was good, but he still largely failed to meet his targets. At QPR it has been a succession of ridiculous transfer dealings and now failings on the pitch. The fact he is managing a direct rival and has been chatting shit about us in the press means he will be the focus of more attention than last season, especially as we are doing so well with the complete opposite approach, but I guarantee most of his critics this season were just as critical of him and Fernandes last season.

I don't post on here that often col city, and the fact you have a picture of Tommy Wright means you can't be a bad bloke but Jesus your love in for HR is totally over the top!

Mattp makes some very good points about the squad QPR have and how Harry should be doing much better with it, but you accuse him of sticking the knife in! I honestly just think he's saying it as it is, all my non city supporting friends agree QPR should of walked the league just like Newcastle did a few years back, it probably even shows Chris Houghton is just as good a manager if not better than Harry
