foxes_rule1978 Posted 11 February 2014 Posted 11 February 2014 Probably the most over-rated manager in English football. To think he was seriously touted as England manager. Everyone was calling for him to be England manager, but the FA thankfully ignored it. Best decision they have made
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 11 February 2014 Posted 11 February 2014 Love yer 'Arry, but don't want you to do well at the moment, geezer.
Guest MattP Posted 11 February 2014 Posted 11 February 2014 Probably the most over-rated manager in English football. To think he was seriously touted as England manager. Too right, it's incredible what he has managed to get away with.
Dan Posted 11 February 2014 Posted 11 February 2014 Why do people get their panties in a twist? It's just Arry being Arry What do you expect him to say? That the title race is over? Schnorbitz! On Leicester? Nothing. Although he's obsessed with us. Trying his little cheap shots at us hoping it'll derail us. The most over-rated manager in football.
Dan Posted 11 February 2014 Posted 11 February 2014 Too right, it's incredible what he has managed to get away with. Him getting the England managers job would've been absolutely everything wrong with football in this country in one move.

Corky Posted 11 February 2014 Posted 11 February 2014 I still can't work out how, but I'm convinced in some way or form he would have managed to bankrupt the FA as well. Probably trying to buy Robbie Keane from the Republic of Ireland.

The most over-rated manager in football. Completely barmy post this. Why on earth shouldn't the manager of a team chasing promotion make comment on another team chasing promotion? It doesn't show any obsession, just mind-games. You're being paranoid buddy. Regarding Redknapp being 'the most over-rated manager in football' . Grow up lad.
Guest MattP Posted 11 February 2014 Posted 11 February 2014 Regarding Redknapp being 'the most over-rated manager in football' . Grow up lad. He isn't far off considering money spent and what he's won for it? What's he got? One FA Cup (and he was prepared to turn a blind eye to possibly bankrupting the club for that), he's probably shelled out near on a billion over the last 15 years.

He's not far off, the way the media portray him you'd think we had a genius on our hands, when he's presided over one FA Cup (spent millions to do it which Portsmouth are still recovering from), two inept relegations, plenty of mid-table football with West Ham and a couple of promotions. He was very good at Spurs, will give him that. Basically, he's an English Roberto Martinez, not Jose Mourinho.

I think "very good" at Spuds is pushing it, he was spending more than Arsenal every year and still finishing behind them. He wasn't too far ahead of Everton most years despite having far more money than them. Add to that he tried to swop Bale for Downing and the fact he didnt actually achieve his target of taking them to the Champions League (unlucky one year I'll give him with Chelsea winning CL) and I don't think he should be thought of that highly. They bottled it twice bigtime, to Arsenal one year and that loss at West Ham on the last day of the season (which of course he blamed on food poisioning, he was never short of an excuse and the London media were only to happy to buy into it)

He's been pretty much succesful anywhere he's gone. FA cup with Portsmouth, even given the money spent was probably the best they may ever do. Taking Spurs from bottom of the Prem and into the Champions league weren't too bad either. This silly disliking of Redknapp just cos he's the QPR manager is frankly, silly. And to say he's the most over-rated manager in the country is ridiculous. What I said last night, however, is true. THIS season, given the resources he has had at QPR, would be disastrous if they don't get promoted. That would be a failure even bigger than Sven at City.

Fair enough I forgot he got them to the CL one year. He spent a fortune to do it though. He has done ok at places, wouldn't say its pretty much successful anywhere, he did more damage to the South Coast than the Werhmacht. If he did that good at Spurs, why was he sacked?
dayday Posted 11 February 2014 Posted 11 February 2014 Probably the most over-rated manager in English football. To think he was seriously touted as England manager. Nowadays yes,but in his time he has been a very good manager, when he got Pompey up as champs the year we were runners up,he managed to sign Paul Merson which in my eyes was a master stroke at the time, some people think just because you have money it brings instant success, but that's not always the case as we well know, but besides QPR,Harry has been quite shrewd in the transfer market.

I'm no big fan of Arry. You're right... he always has an excuse.. he always spends fortunes and he comes across as arrogant IMO. I was simply responding to Dan's post which was just OTT.
XLM Posted 11 February 2014 Posted 11 February 2014 They are after Ravel Morrison on loan as well. In all honesty the dressing room issues they had last season could easily be their downfall again. Surely QPR fans would be worried that players like Barton and Clint Hill would clash with some kid who probably thinks he's too good for the championship. Mathematically, of course QPR can catch us. If I were him, after last nights results I'd be far more concerned about being caught by others though. Nigel's attitude on this is refreshing. Never comments on other teams. Never says anything but his focus on winning the next game. Live live...
cuddly ken Posted 11 February 2014 Posted 11 February 2014 Harry's just trying to put some pressure on us, it's looking that we will win the league this season. But it would be interesting to see how we would react should we lose a couple and allow other teams to challenge for automatic promotion. I honestly think NP would struggle should this happen. That said i can't see us faltering now.

I was simply responding to Dan's post which was just OTT. I'm struggling to think of someone who is more over-rated and by that, I don't think he's a terrible manager, I just simply don't think he's anywhere near as good as he's made out to be. The others have covered it - for the amount he's spent, he really hasn't done that well. His methods in the transfer window are appalling and the way he's lapped up by the media is a result of him being a) obsessed with spending loads of money, b) someone who's managed pretty much everyone in London and Hampshire. Not a terrible manager, but a pretty average one who is made out to be brilliant, incorrectly so. Harry's just trying to put some pressure on us, it's looking that we will win the league this season. However your last line has made me think that it's really happening if even you can say it

His next season wasn't great and his last was a wasted opportunity as they threw away a massive lead. Getting to the quarter-finals was a decent effort in their first season in the CL. I'm no fan of him and the people who fawn over his general averageness but Spurs was his best job and he broke into the top 4 barrier.
Father Ted Posted 11 February 2014 Posted 11 February 2014 I find it hilarious that he wants to sign Ravel Morrison on loan when his two current wingers are Kranjcar (one of the greediest players I've seen) and Gary O'Neil! With two actual wingers in Hoilett and Wright-Phillips sat on the bench every week. Boring football tactics from Redknapp. If Hoilett started every week, he would tear this league apart, should we go up, I'd love us to put a cheeky bid in for him.
Dan Posted 11 February 2014 Posted 11 February 2014 I could swear Ravel Morrison plays in a CAM sort of role rather than out wide? That's Redknapp to a tee though. Complete player collecter at all costs. Absolutely terrible way of operating and it makes a complete mockery of having parachute payments.

Look at Moyes... 25 million for Fellaini! Didn't McKay spend nearly 12 mill on a striker at Cardiff (Cornelius?) who flopped and has now gone to Copenhagen. Etc Etc Etc.. I don't think you'd give a shite about Arry if he wasn't managing one of our promotion rivals. He is, get over it.

To be fair me and him were having these conversation about Harry being an overrated shyster long before QPR became our promotion rivals.
