Ipswich Player Ratings

Kasper 6 - Had nothing to do really. Shit kicking.

RDL 7 - Had a great game bar a minor lapse in concentration. Did very well for the second.

Schlupp 7 - Quality performance. Didn't put a foot wrong.

Morgan 8 - Very dominant.

Wasyl 8 - Same as Wes.

Dyer 5 - Lacking confidence. Hope the miserable twats that slate him to the hills are happy.

Knockaert 7 - Put a tireless shift in and was always a threat.

Drinky 8 - Another fantastic display from him.

James 8 - Got well stuck in and gave Drinky the freedom he needs to control the game.

Vardy 9 - Unplayable for most of the game. Tireless chasing down throughout and his goal epitomises the player he is and how his season has been. Fantastic finish.

Nugent 7 - In the right place at the right time to score, links the midfield and defence so well.

Mahrez 6 - Didn't do an awful lot, but he did well enough.

Wood 7 - Delighted for him to score a well taken goal. That's what he's all about. Must be a massive weight off his shoulders. Looks sharp.

Agree with all these ratings.  Vardy ripped Aaron Creswell for pace down the right flank once...it was a ridiculous turn of foot.

On a more realistic level, I'm starting to imagine the whingeing of some of our fans if we go up and dare to lose a few games, I'm sure that I still heard a few muted boos for Nugent today when he was subbed... What's wrong with people around here?! Even if your team is performing badly (or individuals within that team), you should stand behind them - assuming they're doing their best. Just imagine itching to boo a team of players that are top of the league?!?!? Crazy!!

In all fairness I think that was coming from the Ipswich fans... at least I'm pretty sure it was! About the only noise they made the whole match.

It was awesome. He then went on to run with pace to the byline and put in a decent cross too. It was phenomenal

Kasper 6 - solid but didn't really have anything to do. He sidelined a few kicks but really that was because their strikers were putting him under pressure and no one offered him an out ball.

RDL 7 - solid defensively, had to pick up Nouble a few times who is a big guy and he dealt with him fine. Great going forward as per.

WES 7 - solid as always and nearly scored from a corner.

WAS 7 - same as Wes really. They dominated their men.

Schlupp 7- very good defensively except for one error which could've cost us. Very good going forward, his final ball is so good at times, could be our first choice LB if he can keep this up.

Knocky 6 - I thought he was ok...he gave the ball away quite a few times where he looked to over do it but other than that I can't complain.

James 8 - the man just goes about his game quietly and controls the pace well, he broke up their counter attacks and even had a few decent pops at goal.

Drinky 8 - He's just class, he's by far and away the best CM in our league. He's the puppeteer to our show.

Dyer 6 - He had a few runs at their right back that looked promising but I think he struggled with knowing what to do next. It just never really happened for him. However, he didn't do anything wrong so no reason to drop him.

Vardy 9 - absolutely superb. He's just such a pest. He was through on goal so many times but just caught offside. That will come off for him because he's so quick. Well taken goal from a tight angle.

Nuge 8 - very decent. His goal was an easy tap in but only good strikers place themselves in that position. Spread the ball well when he found himself in the midfield area.

Subs:

Mahrez 6 - nothing major to do. He did absolutely ruin one of their players which was great to see. He also linked up with Knocky very well.

Phillips n/a

Wood 7 - didn't really have much to do but he made a goal out of not a lot. He showed great strength to hold off their CB and slotted it well. It will be great if he can be a goal scoring sub on a regular basis from here on out.

Team as a whole 7 - they work so hard for each other. If someone makes a mistake then someone else is their to cover. When we score the whole team celebrates together which is also great to see.

Stunning, Bert, seriously!

You're rubbish in General Chat, but Cock of the bloody North (or Midlands) in the LCFC forum!

Excellent comments and wouldn't change your markings by more than 0.5 for any player.

The minor nuances:

- 7.5 for Wes; Wasyl had his best ever game in a blue shirt for me & rescued Wes a couple of times

- 7.5 for RDL; he wasn't tested much defensively, admittedly, but his attacking contribution was excellent

- 7.5 for Drinky, just because I think Matty James was the dominant force in midfield today

Very pleased for Jeff Schlupp today; his first appearance for ages and he took it in his stride. Also Wasyl, obviously a strong character, and I'm starting to think that I'd like to see him still here as a squad player next year IF we go up.

I love this team and squad. They're golden moments just now - and I really think that we have an exceptionally good manager. I'm seriously wondering about asking the bookies for the odds on NP being England manager within the next 10 years - given his capabilities, what he's achieved every season here - and how he's learned from the failings of last season (inexperience and personal weakness of some players).

Crazy!!

Other marks:

- Ipswich 3.5 I know McGoldrick was out, but assume that was still a below-par effort by them; Very poor.

- Pearson 9.5 His performance this season is starting to look almost flawless

- Bert 9.0 Very good football analysis....but no oversized white trainers (to avoid an oversized head)!

Have to agree.  It isn't very often I disagree with Bert about his match analysis.  Well done Bert

Schmeichel 7.5 - A couple of fantastic saves including a fantastic close range tip over the bar during the second half. The usual high quality Kasper.

De Laet 7.5 - He looks fully fit and his tireless work up and back on the right is an absolute pleasure to watch.

Morgan 7.5 - Ipswich had little of any quality to trouble Wes and he gave another commanding performance..

Wasilewski 7 - Can cause bomb scares at the back but with a pretty blunt Ipswich attack that caused few problems Was looked the part.

Schlupp 7 - I was expecting McCarthy to send out his wide right players to have a right go at Schlupp. They didn't and in truth he had little to bother him. Got forward well, but better players would soon expose his defensive frailties in my opinion.

Knockaert 7 - We are coming down the stretch and are heading for the sprint finish and I wonder if young Tony is feeling a little jaded lately. Still worked very hard for the team.

James 8 - Jinking commanding Rolls Royce of a performance in the middle with the Cherry on top of the superb turn and pass that put Wood in to score our 3rd Late on.

Drinkwater 7.5 - Ticks along going through his work tirelessly mopping up and getting things going again.

Dyer 6 - Worked very hard as usual but made some poor decisions at times and looks like he has lost his confidence.

Nugent 7.5 - Took his goal well, worked hard and put in a proper wholehearted shift.

Vardy 9 - One word... Lethal. You cant give him even half a sniff or else he is in and you are a goal down. He works his nuts off to boot, harries opposing keepers and terrifies defenders with his pace.

subs:

Mahrez 7 - Neat passing, confident play and the sort of cameo performance that will give Nigel a selection headache come next Saturday lunchtime. Knocking at the door to get a start.

Wood 7 - Desperately needed some game time and looked composed and confident in his play. Yes there are a few cob webs and scruffy touches you'd expect from a player lacking in match time but when he got his chance he was strong and assured and did not need asking twice to slow it away.

Phillips 7 - OK only did 5 minutes or so but if you watch Wood's goal back you'll see Phillips movement opening the way for Wood to run into. Such an experienced and intelligent front man.

With 28,000 at KP yesterday you would have expected the crowd to be vocal in their support for a Foxes side that ran out easy 3-0 victors. However what ensued was a one sided non contest that Ipswich Town never threatened to get into and as a result for swathes of the game Leicester were barely out of 2nd gear, particularly in the second half, which lead to long periods with a lack of atmosphere. In truth you cant blame the fans as there was little shout about during those periods, however when we did move through the gears we could build pressure, attack and then score at will and a higher intensity throughout the match would only have lead to Ipswich most probably losing by 5 or more.

At this vital time of the season it's the 3 points rather than the performance that is key, and we did more than enough to win the match easily and move on to next weekend free from injury or further suspension.
