Number 6 Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 I thought I'd start a thread collating some of the records this team has been able to set so far this season and discuss those which could potentially still be made. Thinking of both club and league records here. I may need help from the stattos too! Ones I can recall us making this season: Best start to a season (not sure how this was quantified) Most penalties won (15) Longest winning run (9) Most consecutive away wins (5) Oldest outfield player (Phillips) Then there's the ones we could still break, admittedly some may be unlikely. Most league points (Reading 106) Any of the above winning sequences Are there more that this team could potentially set this season? Best home run? Most wins? EDIT: I realise I wasbeaten to this in a very similar thread. Can they be merged please?
Guest ttfn Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 I'd like to know what the record is for wins in a Championship season. I think it's 31 (Reading) which is far more achievable than the points record.
Xen Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 I'd like to know what the record is for wins in a Championship season. I think it's 31 (Reading) which is far more achievable than the points record. If we get the 9 wins needed to break that record, then we'll gain 27 points and be on 104 with 3 games still to play... I'd say neither of those record is any more achievable than the other. Both within our reach, (it'll be a big ask, admittedly) but I'd say if we break either of them, the other will come with it. http://www.football-league.co.uk/page/Wins/0,,10794~634810,00.html EDIT: It's 8 wins to break the record, not 9. Still, that'd put us on 101 with 4 games to go...
AdamLCFC Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 I think reading won 32 games when they set the record. Current team is more than capable IMO
Kitchandro Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 We could well beat our record for most wins and points in a season. Did I hear right, apparently we broke our record for away wins in a season last night? It doesn't sound right.
Raw Dykes Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 Like the vague 'best start to a season' record, could we still have the best end to a season?
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 We could well beat our record for most wins and points in a season. Did I hear right, apparently we broke our record for away wins in a season last night? It doesn't sound right. Equalled our record at this level, 11 away wins only beaten by our league 1 season
foxaholic Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 We could well beat our record for most wins and points in a season. Did I hear right, apparently we broke our record for away wins in a season last night? It doesn't sound right. In 1956/7 we only played 42 games and had 11 aways wins and had 25 in total
foxaholic Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 In 1956/7 we only played 42 games and had 11 aways wins and had 25 in total lost 6.
dmayne7 Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Maybe a bit too obvious but longest unbeaten league run...
LCCFox96 Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Ones I can recall us making this season: Oldest outfield player (Phillips) Then there's the ones we could still break, admittedly some may be unlikely. Most league points (Reading 106) Any of the above winning sequences Well Phillips takes oldest player each time he plays. Winner. I'd guarantee him an appearance off the bench on the last day, if we have nothing to play for, just to raise that record a little bit more.
Sampson Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Phillips didn't break the oldest player record, he broke the oldest goalscorer record. Joe Calvert still holds the record for the oldest ever Leicester player. Most league wins in a season was Doncaster with 33 in 1946-47. 9 wins out of our last 12 games and we'll equal this, 10 and we'll beat it.
LCCFox96 Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Phillips didn't break the oldest player record, he broke the oldest goalscorer record. Joe Calvert still holds the record for the oldest ever Leicester player. My bad. Misread it. I'd like KP to get another few goals for then. Just to move that record up a bit.
MC Prussian Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Maybe a bit too obvious but longest unbeaten league run... Reading in 2005/2006 - 33 games unbeaten. For Leicester, it would be 23.
Dan Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Maybe a bit too obvious but longest unbeaten league run... We did 23 in League One. If we still haven't lost by Bolton away then we've broken it again. Reading in 2005/2006 - 33 games unbeaten. Equivalent to us going unbeaten from Leeds at home this season until now. That is mental.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 17 March 2014 Posted 17 March 2014 Not a record as such but I reckon the current run is the first time we've scored two or more goals six games in a row in the league since December 2008 (League One season). At this level, last time was November 2002 (previous promotion season from this division). Haven't gone further back to find out when the last time we did seven in a row was.
Istilllovefilbert Posted 17 March 2014 Posted 17 March 2014 I've personally broke the record for creaming my pants with excitement this season. Is that too much information?
dmayne7 Posted 17 March 2014 Posted 17 March 2014 Reading in 2005/2006 - 33 games unbeaten. For Leicester, it would be 23. I meant our own record
Guest ttfn Posted 17 March 2014 Posted 17 March 2014 Casual 4-game winning run doesn't even get a mention these days.
Snooty Fox Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 One I never thought I'd see matched was our incredible run in March 93 where we scored 3 goals SIX games on the bounce. Could be matched vs Yeovil next week and bettered at Burnley if we keep banging them in.
davieG Posted 21 March 2014 Posted 21 March 2014 http://thetilehurstend.sbnation.com/2014/3/21/5530972/we-hold-the-record-but-for-how-much-longer?
MC Prussian Posted 21 March 2014 Posted 21 March 2014 When's the last time we scored at least three goals in four games in succession? And we've also scored at least one goal in the last twenty league games or at least one goal in twenty-two successive competitive games.
Xen Posted 21 March 2014 Posted 21 March 2014 When's the last time we scored at least three goals in four games in succession? And we've also scored at least one goal in the last twenty league games or at least one goal in twenty-two successive competitive games. Leicester's record in the league for 'Games without failing to score' is 31, and was set WAY back in 1932-33. We'd need to score in every remaining game of the season to match that. Couldn't find the stat on statto for League+Cup sequences.
beemeroo Posted 21 March 2014 Posted 21 March 2014 Remember when we were ecstatic to get two wins on the trot?
