Jimothy Posted 24 March 2014 Posted 24 March 2014 What did his dad actually say then? That he's happy Kasper is now a name in his own right and not just referred to as his son. They know that big teams have been watching him, but all being well he'll be in the premier league with Leicester next year.
LCCFox96 Posted 24 March 2014 Posted 24 March 2014 I think you have to look at by saying Kasper has probably saved us more points than he has cost us. A few standout points are the two we dropped at Blackpool away from the win and the point dropped at Donny for the own goal. All mistakes, that were preventable, but he's hardly the only one. But he saves points all the time. He's the best shot stopper we've had in a long time. He made some pretty crucial saves even this weekend to keep us in it. He's hardly inconsistent and I'm not nervy every time someone has a chance as I'm confident he'll save most of them. It all boils back down to the contract situation so it's hard to avoid. If he wasn't on a Bosman at the end of the year media wouldn't be starring his imminent departure. I personally think he'll stay and be our #1 for at least 2 more years. I'm more than happy for that to happen.
cc_star Posted 24 March 2014 Posted 24 March 2014 He's improving, but supposedly very big clubs are circling, or maybe it's just his agent drumming up interest or trying to ring a few extra quid out of us. His goal-keeping ability is certainly replaceable, but his winning attitude?
reynard Posted 24 March 2014 Posted 24 March 2014 If we manage to get promotion then he will probably stay and there are other positions that will need improving before we get to the goalkeeper. His performance vs England wasn't too shabby by all accounts.
beemeroo Posted 24 March 2014 Posted 24 March 2014 His only downfall is he still looks nervous competing with an opposition player for the ball. He's more than happy to pluck a ball from the air unchallenged, but when it comes to confrontation he prefers to keep his feet planted and go for a horrible flappy fist. It's one of the reasons I think set pieces are so troublesome for us (the other being our tendency to leave a free man). That aside I think he's a fantastic keeper.
Nod.E Posted 24 March 2014 Posted 24 March 2014 The majority of fans know nothing about goalkeeping. Not many things grind my gears more. Kasper is class. End of discussion. Leave it to the keepers, eh?
Agent Fox Posted 24 March 2014 Posted 24 March 2014 If he hadn't of conceded yesterday this thread would not exist. Let in 2 out if 5 games is good. Especially when you look at Cardiff yesterday letting in 6. Even Liverpool conceding 3! Peoples stupidly high expectations of our team is the reason why drinkwater used to cup his ears.. Vardy nearly quit last year. People need to get a grip If your name wasn't Alex your username would be unexplainable.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 24 March 2014 Posted 24 March 2014 Schmeichel has looked very vulnerable this season, and he tends to struggle with corners. He blows hot and cold, which is the last thing we want in the Premiership, where he would have to deal with far superior set pieces. Personally I believe he would be a liability. The bottom line for me, is that he needs to be replaced, should we be successful in our bid for promotion.
Guest Posted 24 March 2014 Posted 24 March 2014 Think he'll be gone over the summer for a ridiculously high transfer fee which will allow us to replace him with another "as good" keeper and still have money to use on other purchases.

Bert Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 The majority of fans know nothing about goalkeeping. Not many things grind my gears more. Kasper is class. End of discussion. Leave it to the keepers, eh? Not really. Plenty of people in here aren't goalkeepers and probably know just as much as yourself on the matter. That's like me telling you that you can't comment on strikers because you're not one. You need to play in a certain position to have a good knowledge about a certain keeper. Of course it helps but what you've said there is stupid. Think he'll be gone over the summer for a ridiculously high transfer fee which will allow us to replace him with another "as good" keeper and still have money to use on other purchases.Surely you're on the wind up with this? If he leaves in the summer he leaves for free.

5waller5 Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 I love Kasper ..... Would be absolutely gutted to see him go.
MC Prussian Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 People forget that he is still a young keeper and will only get better Correct. His five to ten best years are still ahead of him. Goalkeepers tend to hit their peak much later than regular field players.
funkyrobot Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 I'm sure we could take Ruddy or Foster off Norwich and West Brom if one of them are relegated. Kasper is replaceable. Those pair of clowns are forever making mistakes. Kasper is better than them both, I don't care whether they are england reserves. He's without doubt the best keeper in the championship and has been a big factor in why we are at the top of the league. Class act.
cjslcfc Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 He's a good 'keeper at the moment. Nothing more, nothing less. However, although not "young" in footballing terms he is still "young" in goalkeeping terms and I feel he will still get better. On his day he makes fantastic saves and on others he is less than confident in dealing with crosses and set pieces. But his shot-stopping is sensational. So many times this season and the last we have seen that. I give you the save vs Rhodes at the weekend when basically one-on-one, the save vs. McCormack at Leeds when he was also one-on-one, numerous penalty saves, the save last season vs. Blackburn at home after deflection, saves at Charlton away this season... That's just a few of them. One thing I will say is that he is 100% committed every game.
