AdamLCFC Posted 23 March 2014 Posted 23 March 2014 With all the transfer and contract talk left out of this, how confident would you be with Kasper in goal next season? I personally feel that he is a great keeper because of his shot stopping and reflexes, however, whenever there is a set piece, I rarely feel confident that he will claim the ball and relieve the pressure. Both Blackpool games this season spring to mind, and of course, the playoffs at Watford. Next yr in the prem (assuming we get there) I don't think he would be able to handle the free kicks and corners that come his way. I Think it's a bit of worry when the keeper comes out flapping for the ball all the time. Up the blues.
Leicester1884Filbert Posted 23 March 2014 Posted 23 March 2014 i personally think he is a class keeper. end of.
Buzzell Posted 23 March 2014 Posted 23 March 2014 Unless A.C Milan come sniffing around again, then he will still be our No 1 next year. He does do the odd mistake here and there but he's a brilliant keeper who can only get better. He's played in the PL with Man City a while ago, I remember him having a stint in the first team, at a very young age, and was brilliant for them. He will do just fine for us.
AdamLCFC Posted 23 March 2014 Author Posted 23 March 2014 Chris WoodsSlightly past it I think. David Marshall however.
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 23 March 2014 Posted 23 March 2014 Love Kasper, but unfortunately as much as we love him he is replaceable. Football League Paper reckon we've sounded out Speroni at Crystal Palace
svensson Posted 23 March 2014 Posted 23 March 2014 Love Kasper, but unfortunately as much as we love him he is replaceable. Football League Paper reckon we've sounded out Speroni at Crystal Palace Good god, if he is to be replaced, i don't want Speroni anywhere near us. We could do far far better.
Jimothy Posted 23 March 2014 Posted 23 March 2014 Judging what his dad said on Friday night on 5live, he'll be with us next season if we're promoted.
Fox92 Posted 23 March 2014 Posted 23 March 2014 I wasn't a massive fan of him, he's growing on me and I do think he's developed a lot this season... I'm not sure if we could get a goalkeeper better than him at the minute. If we establish ourselves as a PL club, maybe.
Agent Fox Posted 23 March 2014 Posted 23 March 2014 This has been his least impressive season for us, still good but not irreplaceable. Comes for balls which he shouldn't, most famously Watford in the play-offs. Kicking can be either brilliant or rubbish. Has had some clangers this season too.
Ashley Posted 23 March 2014 Posted 23 March 2014 He will be playing for us next season, his Dad even mentioned it over this weekend.
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 23 March 2014 Posted 23 March 2014 What keeper doesn't make mistakes? And if there is one that doesn't make mistakes he won't be playing for us Best keeper in this league by a mile
Fox92 Posted 23 March 2014 Posted 23 March 2014 This has been his least impressive season for us, still good but not irreplaceable. Comes for balls which he shouldn't, most famously Watford in the play-offs. Kicking can be either brilliant or rubbish. Has had some clangers this season too. Watford was last season. It's over, it's gone. I could easily turn around a say Knockaert should have scored, or King should have just fouled their man when they were countering. I agree he's had a few clangers this season, I was behind the goal away at Doncaster, but which goalkeeper doesn't? I don't think we'll find a goalkeeper that doesn't make mistakes, ever. Thing is with goalkeepers, their mistakes are noticeable. You know, if a midfielder loses the ball in midfield and the opposition score then people don't turn around and say "well he lost the ball". It's not that noticeable when you're an outfield player. I agree he is good but not irreplaceable. I do think we need a new goalkeeper if we go up, to challenge him. Logan isn't pushing him really; Kasper's an automatic choice every game. I'd look at Marshall when Cardiff get relegated, though he could be in demand.
yorkie1999 Posted 23 March 2014 Posted 23 March 2014 No doubt he's a good goalie but I've always wondered about a couple of things. Why is he sponsored by specsavers and how come he's a bit dodgy from long shots?
Bert Posted 23 March 2014 Posted 23 March 2014 Would be very surprised if he didn't sign a contract with us if we go up, unless a team playing in European competition comes in for him.
MattGamble92 Posted 23 March 2014 Posted 23 March 2014 You are not going to get a goalkeeper without faults. The best goalkeepers in world football have their faults. I'd feel confident with a Hobbit between the sticks after having Ricardo
Banks Posted 23 March 2014 Posted 23 March 2014 I'm sure we could take Ruddy or Foster off Norwich and West Brom if one of them are relegated. Kasper is replaceable.
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 23 March 2014 Posted 23 March 2014 Schmeichel's weaknesses: crosses/crossed set pieces and his concentration when it comes to his kicking Schmeichel's strengths: shot-stopping, his mentality, his kicking I think he's certainly worth a shot in The Premiership but he has to improve on his judgement of and dealing with balls across the penalty, and he has to cut out the sloppy kicking we sometimes see from him every so often, because it is actually one of the things he is very good at. Given the positive influence he's had on the team and the commitment he's displayed over the last three years I'd be glad to see him stay.
lgfualol Posted 23 March 2014 Posted 23 March 2014 He'd definitely make the step up, like he did against England and our league cup games. Hope he stays!
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 23 March 2014 Posted 23 March 2014 People forget that he is still a young keeper and will only get better
Alex_LCFC Posted 23 March 2014 Posted 23 March 2014 If he hadn't of conceded yesterday this thread would not exist. Let in 2 out if 5 games is good. Especially when you look at Cardiff yesterday letting in 6. Even Liverpool conceding 3! Peoples stupidly high expectations of our team is the reason why drinkwater used to cup his ears.. Vardy nearly quit last year. People need to get a grip
Dan Posted 24 March 2014 Posted 24 March 2014 He's one of the best shot-stoppers in the country IMO but I think his all-round game is questionable. Hard to comment on his communication. His distribution is incredibly hit and miss (either brilliant or dire), but from set pieces he's no good and hasn't been ever since we signed him.
