Sheff Wed H/T Appreciation

I understand the players of St Andrews FC are on the pitch with the Birch at half time on Friday, it would be fitting to give another local team a fitting round of applause when they come out following their fantastic achievement.

If anyone doesnt know they play the 2nd leg of the FA Vase semi final on Saturday against favourites West Auckland after drawing 0-0 away in the first leg last week.

Not many clubs of St Andrews stature have managed such a magnificent achievement, imagine being one game away from Wembley, absolutely amazing.

Lets hope we can give them a resounding applause for the achievement.

Best of luck Pepsi and the boys,...

We love round of applauses at this club

It's football. Achieving is what everyone aims for. Not saying I won't clap, but why do we have to have a thread about it? We've done so well to be top of the league and 15+ games unbeaten, are the likes of Arsenal and Spurs going to clap us?

No, Spurs & Arsenal wouldnt clap us but the comparison isnt quite the same is it, St Andrews have beaten semi pro teams on the way to the semi final and they dont get paid a penny. The achievment is probably akin to someone like MK Dons getting to the FA Cup semi final.

What else are we going to do when they come out?.... Funnily enough I think most fans will clap anyway

Youre quite correct, I just thought it merited a thread of its own..

You are talking Sunday morning footballers who've beaten near on semi professional players to be a game away from Wembley. Incredible effort by St Andrews and worthy of praise.

Maybe one day we can have something entertaining for our half time entertainment.

Or we could just stick to kids I don't know walking around the pitch.

To be fair to this topic.. this team bring kids through.. a few of which could make it.. their a good model of a local team so best of look to them Saturday. . If people are free on Saturday they could do with the extra support.. they had around 1000 ppl there for the quarters. . Would be great if that could be doubled for a non league team

Spot on. Would be great to see City on match days other than Saturdays invite clubs of St Andrews type and give them some publicity. A club like the newly formed Hinckley would have a massive boost on that.

The comparison could not be further apart.

These are local lads who play football with their mates on a Saturday. None of them get paid to play, all they get is a win bonus and that's it.

This is a massive achievement, they knocked out Rushden & Diamonds earlier in the Vase and every round they have been the under dogs.

It's a dream of so many successful professional footballers to play at Wembley and these lads are 90 minutes away.

I think it's good to show appreciation but the best way to do that is to actually go to the game on Saturday if you are able to and cheer them on from the sideline.
