fuchsntf Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 We're discussing things, there's barely been anything negative said, let alone anyone 'demeaning' our players. Stop being so melodramatic, you seem to be the one who needs to find negativity in basically anything that's been said. So stating konch and Schlupp are not upto the PL, is positive is it..
Haydos Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 So stating konch and Schlupp are not upto the PL, is positive is it.. Ah, the old Leicester fan EVERYTHING ANYONE SAYS HAS TO BE COMPLETELY EXTREME. I thought we'd got past this, apparently not. How long until we can say anything other than complete praise for everyone then?
Simonb Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 With topics like this starting already its gunna be a longggg summer.. jus let the lads enjoy it and celebrate like the fans and leave it to pearson to sort out. This season we should have all learnt not to worry as pearson will sort it out
Guest bss9401 Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 I think that Konch has been an asset and is as good as some in the PL. To get promoted is extremely tough as we all know so he should be given a chance if he wants it. Experience and nous will be invaluable and remember that he has been part of a well organised defence
Strokes Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 So stating konch and Schlupp are not upto the PL, is positive is it..You dont think we need any new signings this coming season then?
Guest Col city fan Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 You dont think we need any new signings this coming season then? Personally, left back isn't a main priority for me. I think Jeff will cut it and have done for ages.
adam Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 Not sure what the point is in having a squad player that's not good enough for the first team. He is too slow for the prem. Would get torn apart in most of the games I imagine. Move him on and get him off the wage bill and bring someone in who is up to the job. Harsh but fair.
jimmeh Posted 7 April 2014 Author Posted 7 April 2014 A lot don't seem to have a clue. Think a lot have got a tad too carried away about getting promoted. People seem to think every player we have is good enough for the prem. Living in cuckoo land
jimmeh Posted 7 April 2014 Author Posted 7 April 2014 Schlupp left back in the prem idiots. Don't think you understand football if you think he is a prem left back.
Father Ted Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 Schlupp will cut it, his positioning has improved big time. His pace and ability to beat a man down the left will create a lot of chances too. He's also solid in the air. He is better in every department compared to Konchesky for me.
fuchsntf Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 Agree 100%. Have followed this team for nigh on 50 years and, apart from Rofe/Nish we've never had a 'quality' left back....Been some half decent ones, (Whitlow, Davidson, dare I say Thatcher), but in the main we've got by with 'reasonable' ones.....OK,Konch might not be a Baines or a Cole, but he,s steadier than a fair few in the PL. Have seen loads of calls for Cresswell....might be half decent BUT he's been pretty average come piss poor against us in recent games and that bothers me with regard to splashing out on him for the PL! Lots of people rank Cresswell but, good as he looks in the Champ ,that's no guarantee that he'll make the step up any more than Schlupp.
AdamN Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 Schlupp hasn't put a much of foot wrong in the games I've seen him play left back. And at least if he does make a mistake, he has the pace and power to make up for it. Obviously it's the Championship and the Premier League is a big step up, but it's impossible to say how he'll do in a higher league, especially with the remaining six games + the summer to work on the defensive side of his game (which I don't think is as bad as some seem to make out). At least give the boy a chance.
MGLCFC Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 Schlupp could make it the next level, but I think keeping Konchesky would be wise. He'd be able back up, Schlupp can learn an awful lot about the art of defending from him and should Schlupp suffer an injury or proves not to be able enough then Konch has played at this level before and could step in until the Jan transfer window. I suppose the question that needs to be asked is 'would Konch be happy with this?'
