Do things REALLY need to change very much?

There's plenty of threads flying around, hypothesising about next season.

It's understandable... it's an exciting time for the club.

However.. some people are saying we effectively need a new squad, others that we need a change of captain, still others that we need to change our manager in the summer :o

Personally, I don't think much needs to change to mount a good campaign next season, in terms of avoiding relegation first and foremost and then seeing where City can finish.

I would stick with Wes as Skipper, I would only sign three/four good quality players and I would give Pearson a two year contract NOW.

I like this squad.. it's young, its balanced, it's developing.

Why all the call for change? Are we not going to be ok next season?

Opinions please..

Agree entirely.

I think I need a shower.

With our full first team fit and in form we have nothing to worry about, however I think we all know that is not possible every single game.

So for me our fate will lie in the hands of our squad players, and in my opinion Hammond, Wasilewski & GTF to name a few are not Premier League standard.

If we can bolster and replace these with a higher caliber of squad player we should have a great chance next term.

When I said 'opinions please', I wasn't stretching it to informing us all of your personal hygiene needs.

I personally think it'll be a huge test for Pearson and his team. We've seen that their management style works very well in the Championship but these players are untested at Prem level and while I think most are good enough, there's no way to definitively know. If it does go wrong I will be very interested to see how we adapt as a unit.

Living in dream land. Don't think you get how difficult the prem is. Look at stoke away in the fa cup. And they are a midtable team.

And after making 6 changes, we lost by the odd goal.

I think with 3/4 quality additions and as always a good pre season and we will do ok.

This squad has been built in mind to play in the premiership and have no doubt that a lot of them are going to be able to step up.

We need to get behind the lads, and get behind the management team, they've served us well so far (management) - Give them the time and chance to do what they think is right and we'll be ok.

It is always best to build on sound foundations and we've seen the consequences of endless change year after year.

I'm not saying certain managers and players didn't have to go - just that some of them should never have been engaged in the first place.

Now, at long last, we seem to have an intelligent manager who's shown himself capable of changing and adapting, who seems to have sound judgement when it comes to recruitment and the ability to achieve results.

He's already said that changes will be few and entirely aimed at improving what we presently have - words that are quite good enough for me.

As ever, fans would seemingly recruit every half-decent footballer whose agent sends in a video and what dross we've signed in the past seemingly on that basis.

I really couldn't give a toss who Pearson signs so long as he continues to field a team with the kind of spirit and purpose it has shown this season.

As Col has stated, our first and primary aim is to stay up and, in the first season, everything beyond that is a worthwhile bonus. That's not being defeatist but realistic. Premiership teams have to be built stage by stage even at the highest level and anyone who thinks we can do differently is dreaming.

I'd consider survival a success and any finish in the top two-thirds finish an outstanding initial achievement - the sort of platform from which we might start making some genuine impact before eventually thinking of Europe.

But the answers lie in attitude, aptitude and team-spirit not in a long list of fancy signings.

I think we just need a centre back and a striker. Maybe a winger, following Knockaert's naive showing yesterday.

If Sunderland go down I'd like to see us go for players like Wes Brown and Seb Larrson, and see if Liverpool will lend us Fabio Borini for the season.

Stoke have only lost twice at home all season!

If i'm living in dream land you're practically comatose.

Look at the teams who went up. Cardiff and Palace both made masses of signings and, until Pulis came in, it looked like both of them were going to struggle big time whereas Hull kept the same core and added a few quality signings and are looking safe from relegation, have kept the same manager all season whilst also getting into the FA Cup final.

It's about the quality that you add, not the quantity. Huge changes are most definitely not needed.

Same, think I'll join you.

Not the same shower, obviously!

4-5 players and hold on to what we've got (bar the players who are already being loaned out or have been effectively side-lined) - the squad will need to be bigger just to cope with the increased demands, especially if we're going to be playing different systems from game to game as NP has suggested.

Major and botched surgery has almost finished off Cardiff, and would have relegated Crystal Palace but for Tony Pulis.

We certainly do not need a major overhaul, just the strengthening in key positions that Pearson has alluded too.

You don't watch much premier league football do you? 3 quarters of the premier league is not much better than championship standard, the majority of the players are championship standard(some mediocre too)

lol what ???

Just the defence that worries me a bit Col. Other than that I feel we are fairly well equipped and I'm excited to see players like Mahrez, Drinky and Vardy given a crack at the prem

Agree we need to keep the same core, with the addition of 2-3 strong players, especially for the positions where we lack depth.

This is the approach Swansea, Hull, Norwich etc took when they were promoted and it worked successfully in their first PL seasons. No reason why we won't be able to do the same.

However I worry about the impact of our key players leaving - if Vardy, DD or Schmeichel get snapped up by a bigger club, it could really impact our style of play and momentum from this season.

Every team in the bottom half of the premier league is not much better than championship standard with championship standard players(with a few quality players thrown in). Apart from about 6 teams the premier league really isn't all that special

Wes Brown? The constant liability? Seb Larsson who's been off form for about two seasons? Borini blows hot and cold, but I could see why he would be useful.

Def not the kind of players NP will sign

Utter rubbish. Look at teams like Norwich. A frontline of elmander, Hooper, van wolfswinkel and players like Snodgrass, ruddy, and many more and look where they are in the table. I'm sure vardy, Nugent and wood will score a lot of goals though lol clueless

No I'm talking about the Wes Brown who's played his career in the Prem and won 5 league titles.

I guess since we've run out of our own players to slag off it's time to start slagging off potential transfer targets.

Who would you sign then? Put up or shut up, sir.
