LAprice_ Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 Just a few points... Keeping Dean Hammond and Gary Taylor Fletcher doesn't mean they're going to start every week. Sometimes carrying a couple of older heads can be more beneficial. The biggest difference between this season and last is the added experience. Why do we want to get rid of that? As squad players, I'm more than happy with keeping them. We have a squad full of Premier league standard players already. We also have a lot of money, hence why we've kept hold of them. Schmeichel would be the best example. We're a young side. Just playing together more and more will make us better. Squad unity is essential in the Premier League. QPR got relegated because they had a team of big named individuals. We have the best central midfield partnership in the Championship. Why do we need to bring in someone else to break that? The Matty James statistics are outstanding. As for Danny Drinkwater, well, we all know how good he is. I personally think ManU lost out big time. They have Tom Cleverley, some elbowing afro guy and a bunch of over thirties. James was offered a new contract at Manchester United. He turned them down. I do agree with people that say we need a new CB. Wasilewski is a brilliant defender but his distribution is lacking. Same can be said about Wes Morgan. I would like us to give Miquel a chance. He can pass a ball. They teach 'em something at Barcelona and Arsenal... Strengthening in other areas, ST and LW for e.g, yes, but a little belief in our current team wouldn't go a miss. The bottom 10 clubs in the Prem are really not that brilliant. If we started our first match with our strongest XI from this season, it wouldn't be a disaster. So, keep with the current players. They're the ones that got us here. Squad unitiy. Determination. Effort.
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 Laughable. We would go down with a record low points with our current squad The only thing laughable here is you, are you on a wind up?
jimmeh Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 The only thing laughable here is you, are you on a wind up? Do you know about football ? Or are you one of these people who can't say a single negative thing about your beloved club
Fox Ulike Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 I could, but it's a lot less hassle for both of us to get you to click the direct link to the names I suggest! Fair point. vydra could be a nice idea. Not really heard of any of the other foreign charlies you're bandying about. But I would prefer one or two players who know their way around the Premiership already.
Fox Ulike Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 Laughable. We would go down with a record low points with our current squad It's not really "laughable" then is it. Aha ha ha. who you think we should sign?
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 Do you know about football ? Or are you one of these people who can't say a single negative thing about your beloved clubYes, yes I do actually "know about football". I know we've walked the league and that we've got a better squad than Hull had last season and that they've signed a few quality players and are having a pretty good season. Yet, for some reason you want us to do something similar to CardiffAnd yes leicester is my "beloved club", thanks
jimmeh Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 Yes, yes I do actually "know about football". Bettsj2 Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 It is always best to build on sound foundations and we've seen the consequences of endless change year after year. I'm not saying certain managers and players didn't have to go - just that some of them should never have been engaged in the first place. Now, at long last, we seem to have an intelligent manager who's shown himself capable of changing and adapting, who seems to have sound judgement when it comes to recruitment and the ability to achieve results. He's already said that changes will be few and entirely aimed at improving what we presently have - words that are quite good enough for me. As ever, fans would seemingly recruit every half-decent footballer whose agent sends in a video and what dross we've signed in the past seemingly on that basis. I really couldn't give a toss who Pearson signs so long as he continues to field a team with the kind of spirit and purpose it has shown this season. As Col has stated, our first and primary aim is to stay up and, in the first season, everything beyond that is a worthwhile bonus. That's not being defeatist but realistic. Premiership teams have to be built stage by stage even at the highest level and anyone who thinks we can do differently is dreaming. I'd consider survival a success and any finish in the top two-thirds finish an outstanding initial achievement - the sort of platform from which we might start making some genuine impact before eventually thinking of Europe. But the answers lie in attitude, aptitude and team-spirit not in a long list of fancy signings. Fvck that. Get the chequebook out!! Spend Nigel. SPEND!!!
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 So how many new signings do Burnley need to stay in the premiership then ? Our squad is better than burnley
foxes_rule1978 Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 4 points better ? 7 if we win the game in hand .. plus we took 4 points from them. I guess the likes of hull and palace can't possibly stay in the league... oh wait a minute...
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 4 points better ? Bloody hell do you even support leicester? If you do cheer the fcuk up will ya!
Richard Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 Laughable. We would go down with a record low points with our current squad you really have no idea do you? And can I ask what exactly I said is so laughable? Have you actually got anything to add or not?
benpicko Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 View from the old peoples' home: http://www.fansonline.net/leicestercity/mb/view.php?id=703320 To be fair this list, other than probably Wes Morgan, is pretty accurate: LoganMorgan Marcin Konchesky Hammond Dyer GTF Wood Phillips King SSL Gallagher There is a dozen off the bat who are either past it, never had it or just plain rubbish. I don't think we'll have a problem staying up and the majority of those have barely played anyway but we do need some new players
Bluetintedspecs Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 There's plenty of threads flying around, hypothesising about next season. It's understandable... it's an exciting time for the club. However.. some people are saying we effectively need a new squad, others that we need a change of captain, still others that we need to change our manager in the summer Personally, I don't think much needs to change to mount a good campaign next season, in terms of avoiding relegation first and foremost and then seeing where City can finish. I would stick with Wes as Skipper, I would only sign three/four good quality players and I would give Pearson a two year contract NOW. I like this squad.. it's young, its balanced, it's developing. Why all the call for change? Are we not going to be ok next season? Opinions please.. Good post mate and fully agree. I do not expect to see wholesale changes either!

Why all the call for change? Are we not going to be ok next season? Opinions please.. Good post Col, and I agree with much of it. The point about Wes though, I can't go along with. Although a really decent Championship player, his form has nor been entirely inspirational. He has appeared to be a bit slow, and also hesitant, on occasions, and he will quickly "be found out" by many Premiership clubs, and be in real trouble. Ok as a bench player probably. I would imagine Pearson will bring in 5/6 signings for the campaign, and they will be of quality calibre. ( I do not refer to multi million pound player ) Relying on computer battery now. Sodding power cut! Now an hour and a half later, and yes, I agree with all the rest.
The Doctor Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 To be fair this list, other than probably Wes Morgan, is pretty accurate: I don't think we'll have a problem staying up and the majority of those have barely played anyway but we do need some new players Was, Wood, Dyer and King certainly don't belong on that list and Konch is dubious - the ones that do generally haven't been on the pitch, or even here this season anyway.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 I don't like this arbitrary nonsense about key first team players not being good enough for the Premier League. Regardless of what some people say, there's no telling who will do well really. Wes might be a rock. Lloyd's pace might be vital. You just never know. The main thing is to keep this extremely successful squad together and keep going with the continuity that has served us so well. I think six or seven signings sounds about right. We will need different options. Roughly a quarter of our games next season will be extremely difficult and it'll be backs to the wall. I'm not sure our squad is set up for that kind of approach at the moment so we might need a couple of solid, experienced heads and especially some height to deal with the ongoing set piece issue.
Legend_in_blue Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 Based on a squad of 25, this is how it is people: 1 Schmeichel 2 Backup gk 3 Logan (3rd choice) 4 1st choice LB 5 Schlupp (backup) 6 Morgan (captain) 7 1st choice CB (with pace) 8 Moore (backup) 9 Was (backup) 10 De Laet 11 2nd choice RB 12 Mahrez 13 Dyer (backup) 14 Knockaert 15 2nd choice RW/LW 16 James 17 Drinkwater 18 King (backup) 19 1st or 2nd choice CM 20 Vardy 21 1st choice striker 22 Nugent (backup) 23 Wood (backup) 24 2nd choice striker (loan?) 25 One spot available for someone we currently have not listed above We need 8 new players and one of the following needs to be kept (as the others I haven't listed already aren't good enough imo): Konch, GTF, Hammond, SSL, Gallagher, Phillips (offer coaching role) - choose one, the rest out. Of course, there will be people that think some in my 25 aren't good enough either but bear in mind you take more out the list and we'll need to bring it at least 9 new players. Can't see that happening, but imo we do need 8 players.
LAprice_ Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 We've only started criticising Morgan's form since he's moved positions to accompany Wasyl. Coincidence?

shade Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 funnily I'm very confident we will finish mid table with very few changes, weird.
DangerFox Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 It doesn't need to change a lot but I do think we need to strengthen!
Corky Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 Laughable. We would go down with a record low points with our current squad Going on your stupid logic, we wouldn't, because if the two teams below us kept the same squad, they'd finish 19th and 20th, as our squad has been better than theirs, so they'd be behind our points total.
