Jace Posted 25 May 2014 Posted 25 May 2014 Does anyone remember the film in the build up to the 2006 World Cup Sven the coach, the cash and his lovers? Trying to find a link online to watch it but can't find 1, does anyone know of or remember of any other World Cup films that are worth watching? One night in Turin is a favourite of mine but would like to find more to watch if I can!
Voll Blau Posted 25 May 2014 Posted 25 May 2014 The BBC have been showing films from the 1930, 154 and 1958 tournaments over the weekend. Iplayer them, they're fantastic. Brilliant throwbacks to a time when football was a lot more innocent.

Would love it if there were some more like this out there for the more modern tournaments!
Voll Blau Posted 25 May 2014 Posted 25 May 2014 Absolutely love the British Pathe newsreel type football commentaries. If I was a mad dictator the first rule I'd bring in would be all football highlights had to be packaged in that style.

Trav Le Bleu Posted 25 May 2014 Posted 25 May 2014 Saw the 1958 world cup documentary this morning too. All 4 home nations qualifed, no chance of that these days!
Jimothy Posted 26 May 2014 Posted 26 May 2014 Saw the 1958 world cup documentary this morning too. All 4 home nations qualifed, no chance of that these days! I guarantee if Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland qualified, then England would some how **** it up.
Jace Posted 26 May 2014 Author Posted 26 May 2014 Lets face it the only way we will see all the home nations in the same World Cup again is if Wales/Scotland/N.Ireland make a joint bid to host it
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 26 May 2014 Posted 26 May 2014 Not a "world Cup" film per se but this effort always gets me going for big tournies.
ozleicester Posted 27 May 2014 Posted 27 May 2014 Absolutely love the British Pathe newsreel type football commentaries. If I was a mad dictator the first rule I'd bring in would be all football highlights had to be packaged in that style. ... somewhere in the dark recesses of my loft, i have a stamp album with a few of these world cup stamps (mint)... oh and the launch of the QEII and the Concord. Oh.. so, Ive ALWAYS been a nerd
Grandad. Posted 27 May 2014 Posted 27 May 2014 Only one needs to be watched right now, One night in Turin. I can see England having an Italia 90.
Zapp Posted 27 May 2014 Posted 27 May 2014 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/27213333 Starting with England's heroic World Cup success in 1966, we'll rerun, in full and 'as live', the highs and lows of the Home Nations' campaigns of yesteryear. The full schedule includes: • Friday 30 May, 12:00 BST: England v West Germany, 1966 final • Saturday 31 May, 15:00 BST: Scotland v Netherlands, 1978 group match • Wednesday 4 June, 12:00 BST: England v Argentina, 1986 quarter-final • Saturday 7 June, 15:00 BST: England v Germany, 1990 semi-final • Sunday 8 June, 15:00 BST: Spain v Northern Ireland , 1982 group match Will definitely watch these, never seen them in full be interesting to watch full world cup matches that happened before i was even born.
Grandad. Posted 27 May 2014 Posted 27 May 2014 England's top 53 goals on Dave at 9pm. Got this on now! Nostalgia.
Voll Blau Posted 27 May 2014 Posted 27 May 2014 Got this on now! Nostalgia. Shame they couldn't do it without some no-mark comedians having a little dig at Heskey eh. Seems to be par for the course for this kind of show.

Lionator Posted 27 May 2014 Posted 27 May 2014 Those sort of tv shows are rubbish. Most of the time the celeb pundits haven't got a clue and it's pretty evident that most of it's scripted.
Kitchandro Posted 28 May 2014 Posted 28 May 2014 Very few of those shows actually work for me. One of the few was the World CUp Heaven and Hell series on ITV, but that was because they had actual comedians on and writers too.
Voll Blau Posted 28 May 2014 Posted 28 May 2014 Interview with Eric Cantona about his documentary. Quite fancy watching it, certainly agree with a lot of the points he makes.
Grandad. Posted 28 May 2014 Posted 28 May 2014 Rio Ferdinand's was by far the best World Cup programme ever, the Wayne Rooney set up is absolutely brilliant.
Voll Blau Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 World Cup film from 1962 on BBC2 tomorrow morning at 10.
