Yeah can't you just take the cable that carries the image from the tower to the screen and plug that into your laptop?

Dunno, can I? That's why I was asking. :P

Ok, I'm probably being thick even asking this but it is possible to use my laptop simply as a monitor if I connect it to a desktop tower?

Basically, my Mum's desktop needs updating, new software adding, etc, etc and it'd be a heck of a lot easier if I brought it over to mine to do it. Thing is, to save bringing the monitor over too, can I use my laptop simply as a screen for her desktop while I'm doing the installations, etc?

If that makes any sense.....?!

Very hard to do. Dont think any off the shelf laptops have a display input, only outputs. i guess you could connect tower to the net as well as your laptop and use like remote assistant or summat. Prob too hard.

As a additional thought, couldnt you connect the tower to your TV?

Ok...

I am attempting to move the downloaded files (South Park episodes) from my computer to my Iphone. I have downloaded a few seasons, but at the moment I only have about 10+ episodes on my phone :(

The ones currently making it to my ITunes are MP4 files, & i have tried converting the files to MP4, from AVI File this is just how they appeared on my laptop! Some MP4 files are not going over also!? <_< I am not goood enough with compuers to know why???

I am unsure if I have to do anything with my quicktime settings??? Just a guess?? As the ones that transfer across are able to open with quicktime, but the ones that do not move across to itunes can't be opened with quicktime! I think I have to modify the file type??? Any ideas???

Cheers in advance Tom AKA Kilworth x x x love you all

Some random grey line has appeared next to the tip of my mouse cursor, how do I get rid of it, not really a massive problem it's just getting on my nerves. It's almost as if the tip of the cursor has been smudged to the right, if that makes sense. :dunno:

Need help.

My laptop will not connect to the internet. Well it does but my web browsers will not.

These are the symptoms,

1) Will connect to the wireless router

2) Bittorrent can still connect and operate and upload/download.

3) IE and firefox will not connect

4) I have to use an ethernet cable from the wireless router into my laptop for IE or firefox to work.

5) ^ The above also applies when a dongle is being used.

This is a problem I have had for a while and I gave up on fixing.

Microsoft Windows XP. Dell Laptop.

Back in early 09 it first happened.

In that summer I rebooted my entire hard drive for performance reasons.

This fixed the problem but then after about 2 months it went again.

I do not recall downloading or installing any software immediately before it stopped working.

This has happened on 4 different wireless networks. I controlled 2 networks and nothing was changed.

I am completely stumped. Any ideas?

Is your internet local only? Or local and internet? That is the only thing i can think of, but then it works with BitTorrent, so i have no idea.

Could always use one of these:

Keep having trouble burning CDs from iTunes, keeps saying different errors seemingly every time! Anyone able to help?

I found out the other day it only likes it if you have all the same file type like all MP3 etc etc.

Think my iTunes is dead.

Won't let me connect to the iTunes store, and I can't even do anything with my ipod now. It's connected it seems but I can't sync it or do anything.

Help! :ermm:

Think I may have fixed it. Typical - spent 2 hours trying to figure out how to fix it. Finally post on here and then 2 minutes later I find the answer!

problem

Try resetting the browser. Also, go into cmd

Start > Run > 'cmd' > Enter

Type 'ping www.google.co.uk' and you should get a few rows up saying 'Reply from...' if it's working (if it's not it'll say something about connection timed out). Also, type 'ipconfig' and you'll know if you have internet connection as you'll have an IP.

If have internet connection but still no internet, type 'netsh winsock reset' and it'll reset the winsock. Reboot and see if it works.

Hi, Random problem.

I've just set myself an account up on my missus's laptop as my computers broken and im rubbish at remembering passwords and have to keep logging her out of facebook/hotmail etc.

The only problem i've got is that her desktop is very cluttered and i prefer a nice clean one but when I delete the desktop icons from my log in it deletes it off hers aswell.

Any ideas how to seperate the two??

Its running vista btw...

Cheers

Dan

Im trying to sell my moped on ebay, and it wont let me add pictures. I click the link saying click here but it just doesnt respond. Driving me insane please help

Best I can do without actually seeing the problem in person: there are links here for troubleshooting with the basic and enhanced uploaders (maybe best trying the basic uploader?):

Not a PC problem but I thought I'd post here instead of creating a seperate thread. I have surround sound for my DVD player. But I want to connect it to my Xbox. Is there a way to do this? I'm a bit thick when it comes to things like this so I apologise if this is a bit of a dumb question. Thanks in advance.
