Not for a couple of weeks. I have uTorrent and use that sometimes but I don't think I've used it for at least 10 days. (if that's what p2p is, not sure!). I haven't played a game on Steam for a week or so either.

It's getting on my nerves now cos I watch a few videos every day and now I can't online. I can watch clips I have saved on my pc but not on a website. If I re-install Flash Player it works again for a little while but then ducks up again. It's like Flash keeps getting corrupted.

Some kind of virus? You done all the usual checks?

Check if utorrent is running in the background, can sap bandwidth (in the bottom right)

I had the Youtube thing for about 9 days (ish). Turned out that it was just my provider (TalkTalk) doing maintenance in my area. Could be that :dunno:

I've done some scans and only found some tracking cookies and removed them but hopefully that helps. uTorrent defo not running, just checked.

I hope that is what it is so it will hopefully just go back to normal soon.

Just got a new Dell laptop using Windows 7 but I am having problems installing iTunes.

Everytime I start the download from the Apple website it starts fine but always freezes before the download is complete. Any advice from anyone? I've searched around a bit but none of the potential solutions have worked.

Just itunes or every download is incomplete?

Is the file you downloaded there? Or is it deleted because of the partial download? If its there give it a double click and see what it says.

Only happens with iTunes. And I don't think there is any partial folder even though the download shows as partially complete (think it normally gets to 42mb out of 93mb or something like that, not the same every time though).

Even though I only click on the mouse once it acts as if I've double or triple clicked on it meaning I click unclick at the same time. It sometimes makes the computer crash as well. In short it's a right pain in the arse.

The mouse itself is only a few months old but it's only started doing this recently. I suppose it's probably the mouse but could it be the computer?

Have you another mouse in your house spare? If so, plug that in and see if it is the mouse. Then you will know if it's the mouse or the computer.

Could be the mouse button sticking?

Perhaps try updating drivers (I don't think this'd do anything but always one to try)

Try another mouse.

Then try the same mouse on another machine.

Several months ago I thought I would be a clever bugger and clear up some space on my hard drive. Thinking I was well smart I realised I had the same files taking up space in my regular music folder and in my itunes folder. As I only used itunes at the time decided I would delete about 10 gig of songs. Now I am set up properly in the states, I have realised this was not wise. No systen restore points will help either - now none of my itunes music will play. Anyone know of a way to get these songs back?

And yes, I feel very silly. lol

Guys, i brought a WD External Hard Drive 1TB a couple of months ago, and wanted to delete some stuff on it. But i accidentally formatted it and now whenever i plug it in it says it needs to be formatted. But whenever i click format it just doesn't do anything.

Anyone got any ideas? :dunno:

Cheers.

I've got some sort of virus. Sometimes when I click on a link to a site some spam site pops up instead. An AVG scan finds it and says it's dealt with it. I've done the CC cleaner and then Malware bites thing, that found 2 threats and dealt with them but it still keeps coming up.

Try Spybot Search and Destroy and also look to re-install your browsers if need be. Another thing to look at is in CCleaner, take a look at the Startup Programs and remove any which seem linked to the Malware - feel free to post a screenshot on here with the list and I'll see if any are dodgy startup programs.

Only using a recovery program... but several months is a long time ago and each time you turn the computer off/on less and less will be recovered (at least in a readable format and not corrupted).

I've tried the spybot thing and I've unistalled/reinstalled firefox (it's worse on IE)but when I restarted the computer the problem was back. I've taken this screenshot if this is any good.

If you've got a virus, it means your computer aint safe. (I know i'm probably being very stupid in saying this)

If I was you, I'd back all your files up that you want to keep mate, and programs. And just wipe the lot.

Start from Factory settings, with the disk. I do mine about twice a year, just to clean it all up.

Seems to be working now :fc: Thanks Hitesh & DB11.

I would reformat the computer but it takes forever to set up my wireless broadband and I don't want to spend 2 hours on hold to Talktalk. But thanks for the suggestions.

That will have taken the malware out of the start up, thus improving start up speed and general performance, but it will not have removed them from the system. I'd recommend that you run a program called MalwareBytes

I've managed to delete RTHDCPL & VXIOOO. I've only been able to disable mxapeqayof but it doesn't matter what I do with gxonatiwouiliquw it keeps coming back.

EDIT- I seem to have sorted it out now.

Something has happened to my Recycle Bin. I've searched the net but no help.

If I right click my recycle bin I get the option of 'open' etc. but there is another new option that I only noticed yesterday : 'System Guards Shredder Shred Recycle Bin'. If I click it it then says 'choose program to open with'.

I searched the webs and there is a program called SystemGuard but I have never installed this. In my uninstaller program there is no mention of SystemGuard and I have done a pc search and I have no folder or file with SystemGuard or System Guard in the name.

Could it have something to do with CCleaner or ATF Cleaner?

SystemGuard sounds a bit like a virus... one of those fake anti virus programs that says you're infected and then asks you for money to remove the viruses.

Ok, I'm probably being thick even asking this but it is possible to use my laptop simply as a monitor if I connect it to a desktop tower?

Basically, my Mum's desktop needs updating, new software adding, etc, etc and it'd be a heck of a lot easier if I brought it over to mine to do it. Thing is, to save bringing the monitor over too, can I use my laptop simply as a screen for her desktop while I'm doing the installations, etc?

If that makes any sense.....?!

Yeah can't you just take the cable that carries the image from the tower to the screen and plug that into your laptop?
