Using the jumpers on the actual HDD itself make sure it's set as slave and not master.

thanks :thumbup:

i'm not really sure how to do that though , i'll probably get a proper man to look at it :thumbup:

Ok. If you haven't changed them (which it sounds like you haven't if you don't know what it is lol) then default is master. It's pretty simple; on the side of the HDD look like below

hddinstall_jump.jpg

Take them out with a pair of tweezers and then put them in the way the sticker on the side of the HDD shows. Each HDD is different. See example of sticker below

More of a software question but is it possible to un-blur photos on Photoshop. Took a good photo the other day but its not so good because its unclear and blur.

I've looked on the net at techniques such as sharping but none work.

We have a PC for general family use which has an internet useage meter on it measuring uploads and downloads.

Every once in a while the level of up/download goes through the roof.

Today for example, over 4 gig upload and over 8 gig download and yet I know that only one of my children has been on that particular PC and for not a very long time. He swears that he was only doing GCSE revision online and the browsing history bears that out.

Norton is not showing any virus, trojan etc although the Norton log is recording attempted intrusions but that they were blocked.

There was a file sharing program on the PC but I uninstalled it when I found out (about 6 months ago). Could a part of this still be running?

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Any suggestions on this particular problem people?

Recently something called 'Vista security 2011" has infected my laptop, it claims to be an anti-virus system but after a quick internet search it turns out that its a certain type of virus.

I've tried removing it in the normal uninstall programmes method and deleting it but nothing works, even a couple of suggestions I found around the web.

Does anyone have any information or knowledge on how to get rid of this problem?

Any info would be much appreciated, Thanks

Late i know.... but ive just had the b*stard thing on my comp... along with the suggestions from DB11, i also used tss rootkiller from Kaspersky, cleaned it up good n proper. :)

Maybe you do have a virus and it is using your PC as a client to send out mass spam email or DDoS

I ran Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware last night and it found two hijacking applications in the registry.

I'm now wondering how long they've been there as O2 terminated my 'Unlimited' Broadband account last summer for excessive use. At the time we couldn't understand it - possibly makes sense now.

Good job I have a net-use monitor on all of our PC's.

That would be it then :) Good job you've sorted it - be expensive if you'd been on dial up lol

I have a question about a wireless router. I have one, but don't use it - I prefer the modem plugged straight into my PC.

However now I have a PS3, I'm wondering is it possible to use the wireless router for the PS3 and keep the Modem hardwired to my PC? (which to my understanding is faster)

IE: Do I need to do this...

----------------------------------/---->PC

Modem -> wireless router

----------------------------------\---->PS3

Or can I do this?

----------/---->PC

Modem

----------\---->wireless router---->PS3

Hope this makes sense.

I don't know why you'd want to? Just keep the PC connected to the router via the ethernet cable and it's still a physical, wired, connection. You don't have to do it wirelessly.

Modem > Router > All Other Connecting Machines

Modem > Router > All Other Connecting Machines

That answers my question. Cheers.

What do you guys think of this mid-range build? I'm not very good with computers so it's going to be a big challenge to put it together, never done it before. Is there anything else I need with this? I I don't think I need a separate cooling fan as i'm not overclocking anything. This is the very max of my budget.

Asus P8P67 LE R3 P67 Socket 1155 8 Channel HD Audio ATX Motherboard -£104.99

i would prob go for this instead to future proof yaself:

http://www.amazon.co...08601524&sr=1-4

I would save bit of money on the ram, ya not gonna notice 1333mhz to 1600mhz imo

http://www.dabs.com/...tm_content=Q200

I would get a 64gb SDD and install windows plus programs on there

You will have a pretty awesome PC then!

Right click it, hide update.

Thanks, effective way to hide it... but is it useful and should it be downloading?

Every time I try to run CC Cleaner it gets to about 52% and says something about google chrome and it never gets past that point. It just keeps running without progressing. What can I do?

Sounds like your internet browser is open when running it?

No, I always switch it off. I've even tried restarting the computer and not switching anything on before I start it.

It never gets past this point no matter how long you leave it running.

Hmm try manually clearing Google Chrome history and cookies etc ?
