Hi all, I read on here somewhere about how to view UK websites, from overseas.. an IP blocker or something..would that do it?

Are they safe?

do they slow the computer down?

are there any issues?

Cheers

I am looking to upgrade my cpu. I went on my motherboard makers website and it states I can install a "amd athlon x2 upto 4800+". Is this trustworthy?

I might bid on a 4400+ model on eBay. It says it is compatible but I feel scared as I have never upgraded a cpu before, is it easy?

Ive got a 4800+ cpu in my home pc, its pretty ancient now.

You shoudl look to get something more modern

I only wish. But I have a socket 939 motherboard, had it for about 5 to 6 years, so the only best option is the Athlon x2 range.

The system has treated me well, so I just want to upgrade to a dual core as I only have a athlon 64 single core installed at the minute. And I haven't enough money to buy a new motherboard, ram, psu etc or a new system.

If you really mudt keep that motherboard, I think the FX-60 is one of the best for it.

I looked at one of them on the other day on eBay. At the minute though, I have bidded on a motherboard bundle. Its not the motherboard I want though, its the athlon x2, heatsink/fan and ram that are all included

Is it the newest Firefox? Click the 'Firefox' drop down menu in top left hand corner and then they should be under 'Bookmarks Menu'. I don't know why they don't just appear :S

Zonealarm is giving me jip. Vsmon.exe is taking up 90% cpu and slowing down the internet to super frustrating levels.

I got a message from zonealarm the other day saying my version was out of date. It normally just updates itself but this prompted me to download a new version, uninstall the old and install the new. I did all that and the pc's been playing up ever since.

I've stopped forcefield which is the iswsvc.exe thing in 'services.msc' but that has not sorted it. I've reset to default settings aswell but still no joy.

Anybody know what's crackin? Or any other solution to help?

PLEASE!!!!

Google Chrome - I use this on 2 pc's, it's fine on my laptop but my desk pc is driving me nuts, everytime I open a page/window I get a message across the top saying

'An additional plug-in is required to display some elements on this page - Install plug-in'

I click on this and it disappears until I open a new page or window.

There's an icon 'Problems installing' wher I get a message:

Windows Media Player and Java

If you allow websites to use plug-ins and the browser detects that you're missing a plug-in for a particular site, it'll prompt you to install the plug-in at the top of the web page. Here's more information about installing Windows Media Player and Java plug-ins. Learn more about managing plug-ins

Windows Media Player

If a page simply links to Windows media files (e.g. .asf or .asx files), you might not see a prompt to download the Windows Media Player plug-in. In that case, follow these instructions to get the plug-in:

Windows instructions

  • Visit http://port25.techne...n-download.aspx doit.gif
  • Click Download Now.
  • Click Save for the file in the downloads bar to confirm that you want to download the file. Don't worry - saving the file won't harm your computer. Learn more about downloading files in Google Chrome.
  • Open the setup file.
  • Click Run to start the Setup Wizard. Follow the instructions in the wizard to finish installing the plug-in.
  • Restart Google Chrome.

Mac instructions

Test whether the Windows Media Player plug-in has been installed successfully doit.gif

Java

Windows instructions

  1. Visit http://java.com/en/download/chrome.jsp doit.gif to download Java version 6, update 11 or higher.
  2. Click Agree and Start Free Download to save the setup file to your computer.
  3. Click Save for the file in the downloads bar to confirm that you want to download the file. Don't worry - saving the file won't harm your computer. Learn more about downloading files in Google Chrome.
  4. Open the setup file. Follow the instructions on the screen to finish installing Java.

I've installed/repaired the firefox plug in and downloaded the Java and I've tried un-installing and re-installing Chrome but it's still occurs.

Every web site? Or just ones where there are media files (note even web sites like FoxesTalk may have media files in the banners / adverts at the bottom of the page)

Seems like all of them although I do occasionally think it's solved so maybe not, but help is required because it's driving me nuts.

A virus that is turning it off? Is it enabled and set to auto run in services.msc ? Try system restore? Drivers? Wireless management system?

Cheers DB11 (as usual), but the error has been fixed now.
