I have forgotten the password to my laptop. Any ideas, the old password was "radiator" which I changed a few months ago (last time I used the ****ing thing) because I thought it was too simple.

God knows what it is now, the password hint is "It's cold so" so I think it may be a version of "radiator"

Or is there a way to get in without the password?

Things have been happening to my pc when I log into FT for the past 6 months or so. It only happens when I'm on here, and only when I'm logged in, not just 'guesting'.

The top quarter, or sometimes top half of my screen, goes black for 1 - 3 seconds, sort of like that little black thing that pops up when you run the cmd thingymabob.

Anyone know what this is? I'm not accusing FT mods of hacking my pc but it defo only happens when I'm logged in here. I've been keeping a log. Never happened at any other time on any site.

Being as this is the only place I ever post 'sensitive' information it's probably them dicks from the golf ball place up north. Just wondering if anyone knows anything about the black screen part.

Ive got an Emachines G640 17.3" laptop..

basically ive cracked the screen so I know that needs fixing. But now when i turn the laptop on and connect it to

my tv it comes up with 'windows resume loader' and none of the keys are working, I get 2 options

'continue with system resume' & 'Delete restoration data and proceed to system boot menu'

Before when i linked to the TV i managed to go in my documents etc but now i cant do anything!!

Fingers crossed theres some brainy computer people on here on how I can solve this matter, last option

being to take it to a computer shop for personal reasons ha

Cheerz =)

You're just trying to make me para with that ninja face! :D

It wouldn't bother me if there were some snoops amongst you as it's the internet - you're gonna get snooped on - (but I don't actually think it is this forum), I was just wondering if anyone knew what the black quarter screen thing means as it only happens when I log in here. Can't find a blummin answer anywhere!

Another thing that's weird, that picture I put in the user help section of the malware alert pop up I got in the music section. If you type the web address into Google search, you get a big list of Jewish stuff! After all the Israel stuff I posted it made me wonder, but may be just a huge coincidence.

Either way, whoever it is messing with my pc can still f*&k reet off.

It's all Webbo's fault. :D

Webbo's the only one I trust lol

I might have a look at the list of mods as I've lost track, and put up a list in their order of shiftiness!

Pfft, well that's where you're going wrong, innit!:P

It seems at least once every few days, my PC BSODs on me, and I'm not sure why. I've tried reinstalling my graphics drivers several times, and letting Windows Update download drivers for me, to no avail. It's been happening since I installed Windows 7 earlier this year (CCleaner cleans out logs, and the 2 week gap is because my graphics card broke and a replacement took ages to arrive).

So, two cards, plenty of driver re-installs, attempted running with only the basic services, and I'm still no closer to figuring out why this happens.

Hard drive could be on the way out? Try running diagnostics on the hard drive see if there are any bad sectors

Howdy all.

The volume control has vanished from my taskbar at the bottom. Now when that has happened in the past, I usually go to the control panel and go to the sound section and re-tick the box so it appears, only this time the box won't let me tick it. Any ideas on how to get my volume control back on the taskbar at the bottom?

Cheers :D

In the router what type of authentication is selected? It must be compatible with the Android otherwise it won't work, I think the standard is WPA/WPA2-PSK. You could try changing the channel on the router also (if it's not set to auto).

Can anyone tell me why Windows won't let me format my hard drive? "Quit any disk utilities or any other programs using this drive". I've formatted a lot of hard drives, but never come across this before. So annoying, every application is closed expect the os itself.

Guys the internal connector on my Dell Inspiron laptop seems to have bent/snapped meaning that the power cable does not sit in properly. I have managed to cellotape the power cable to the laptop but the battery does not charge. It just means I can use the laptop as long as it is plugged in. I guess my laptop has kind of become a desktop!

Any ideas what I can do here? Is this likely to be a cheap repair? The laptop is over 3 years old now.
