The Gulf War III - this time it will be legitimate?

If we haven't yet figured out that we can't impose western ideals and standards on populations that have no desire to change the tribal existence that has prevailed for centuries, I can promise you that another bloody intervention by the young men and women of the UK and/or the USA will not change anything much. Once we are out of Afghanistan dont expect the status quo to continue. Its being maintained by superior firepower, not political will. And as someone with 3 tours under his belt and who has lost colleages and seen many others maimed, I feel very hurt and sad about that.

A Muslim caliphate across Iran and Iraq is imminent.

Not really - ISIS territorial claim is for most of Syria and part of Iraq. It's not a middle east superstate they're after, it's the borders they believe in - because Sykes-picot divvied out land with no regard to warring tribes and tried to force enemies under the same banner.

Islamist terror threat to west blown out of proportion - former MI6 chief
Richard Dearlove says extremists are now focused on Middle East and giving them publicity in west is counter-productive

Pointing the finger at Sunni Saudi Arabia, Dearlove said the Isis surge in Iraq had to be the consequence of "sustained funding".

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/british-isis-fighter-al-britani-threatens-3819631

British extremist Abu Rahin Aziz believed to be using the alias Abu Dugma al-Britani used Twitter to threaten that the Islamic State would capture Downing Street and hold executions in Trafalgar Square

A Brit fighting in Syria has vowed to bring terror to the UK – and stage public executions in London’s Trafalgar Square, the Sunday People reports.

Using the name Abu Dugma al-Britani, the fanatic has issued a series of chilling online vows to wage “holy” war on home soil.

The father-of-one, who claims to be fighting for Isis , used Twitter to warn: “Downing Street will be a base for Muslims. Trafalgar Square is where public executions will take place. Army of Islamic State is coming.”

He bragged extremist forces were set to “conquer” America’s White House.

He demanded the release of jailed “Muslim brothers and sisters” in Britain.

And he warned David Cameron and Home Secretary Theresa May they’d be “annihilated” because of the “filthy dogs” at the centre of an alleged paedophile network in Westmister.

Al-Britani is understood to be an alias of Abu Rahin Aziz, 32, who fled the UK in March after he was charged over a gang attack on a football fan in London. He was jailed for 36 weeks in his absence.

He ran jihadist websites in the UK and was part of a mob called Muslims Against Crusades, who torched a wreath of poppies on Armistice Day in 2010, yelled appalling insults during the two-minute silence and held placards saying: “British soldiers burn in hell.”

Aziz is now thought to be associating with ISIS leaders fighting to create a Sunni Muslim caliphate in Syria and Iraq.

On Wednesday he warned of a terror strike like the 2001 bloodbath at New York’s World Trade Center against any state that helped the Iraqi government take on Isis.

He tweeted: “USA your interference will trigger many more 9/11 twin towers attacks and your brave boys returned in body bags.”

Meanwhile, UK spy chiefs have angered ministers by stepping up airport security at the busiest time of year.

The 24 million people set to fly this summer face long delays after the US claimed al-Qaeda had developed an explosive invisible to scanners.

But Whitehall sources believe our intelligence chiefs are just “covering their backs”.

A series of interesting articles you've posted over the last few months, Steven, which tally with others I've read.

It beggars belief that Islamic State could have become so powerful and well-armed so quickly without serious financial backing - and Saudi Arabia & Qatar seem to be the main countries in the frame.

How much funding comes from state representatives may be questionable, but at the very least those running the states in question seem to have encouraged the ideological upsurge in extreme interpretations of Sunni Islam and have turned a blind eye to private citizens giving vast sums to militant jihadis like IS who are creating mayhem that could get a lot worse.

What has the West done to pressure Saudi to change tack? Very little, it seems. Too fond of nice secure supplies of oil?

As you rightly pointed out before, it was mostly Saudis who were behind the 9/11 attack. What has been done to prevent Saudi nationals continuing to be a major force behind global jihadist terror? I'm sure that if most of the 9/11 attackers had been Greek or Swedish, we'd have wanted to know what those states were doing to prevent a repeat.

And it is sickening that we could find ourselves taking part in a World Cup (Qatar 2022) in another of the countries that is funding brutal jihadist wars, not to mention the murder of our citizens.

We are a war weary country but I really don't see how we can do anything else than go with this, the World hasn't seen such evil for quite a while as these Islamist groups show.

Obviously we know the downfalls, it's likely we'll see some sort of retaliation on our own shores for this and we might have to prepare for a public beheading or two given they seem to have quite a bit of support over here but it still has to be the right thing to do long term as these animals need to be wiped off the face of the earth.

As for Cameron, as I said at the time, thank your lucky stars parliament didn't vote yes to your choice last year, I dread to think what situation we would be in now had we struck the Assad regime and the Syrian Army to it's knees and pretty much marched groups like Al Nusra and ISIL to even more populated parts of the country, many, many thousands more would have murdered, raped, tortured etc under this warped vision this lot have.

If anyone hasn't watched the video smuggled out of Aleppo where the woman hid it in her Niqab to show the World then do so, it was appalling and no citizens should ever be forced to live under that day by day, 70 years ago the World became aware of something quite awful and we promised we would never let it happen again, we've already let this go on long enough.

I know that 'I got you babe' was a bloody awful record, but was it really really that bad for the followers of Sonny and Cher to want to kill each other?

Jihadi john is still free as well, neither 1 of them have been captured. What's your point?

That the FBI would be better deployed hunting the alleged killer of a 14 year old in London, rather than following a narrow headline grabbing political agenda. It would make that part of London safer.

What has London got to do with the FBI?
