Rincewind Posted 29 August 2014 Posted 29 August 2014 I thought she did. One session noone turned up so she chatted to the bar staff. i agree with the cynicism though. With over 20% of the shadow cabinet being public school and Oxbridge educated and over 30 of the cabinet it would be hard to have anything in common with LCFC football supporters for instance. Politics has changed so much over the last decade or so with the emergance of the career politician. Such a shame.
Rincewind Posted 29 August 2014 Posted 29 August 2014 Sorry, I disagree. The Tories don't attack the poor at all. True they keep well away from them and forget they are there.
Alf Bentley Posted 29 August 2014 Posted 29 August 2014 I assume that "the Big Society" has been filed away behind "the Trickle-Down Effect" in the drawer marked "Rhetorical concepts designed to act as smokescreens for redistribution to the rich". I agree with your point, Ken, about the emergence of career politicians. It would be a lot better if MPs of all parties had experience in various fields (business, health service, armed forces, education, finance, trade, unemployment etc.), instead of predominantly being special advisers and the like. The experiment that the Tories conducted last time with open primaries (allowing non-member constituents to vote), leading to the election of the GP Sarah Wollaston, was an interesting one and seemed to work well. I've not heard anything about them extending the process - or about Labour or other parties using it. It could be open to abuse, but with suitable safeguards could be a good idea. God knows, most people feel disconnected from the political class, which isn't healthy...
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 29 August 2014 Posted 29 August 2014 No surprise really. Quite a few Tories are part of the way there already but their chance of progress is higher with the Tories. Talk on the tv tonight, infers that some Labour MPs, are also likely to switch to UKIP. From little acorns, mighty oaks will grow. Just could happen.
Rincewind Posted 29 August 2014 Posted 29 August 2014 She also said with most MP's living in London even she felt cut off from them. She did meet some people. What seemed to her like a whole street once. She did not promote the meetings much jusy an A4 poster. If she had advertised it more she may have got the press there too which would have defeated the reason for being there, to speak with the public not the press.

Must be the thought of her "jusy A4 poster". Sorry for the frivolity. Good idea for MPs to be more in touch with "real people" generally, given the disconnect. Logging out (for now)....

Sir Fynwy Posted 29 August 2014 Posted 29 August 2014 Two more Tories are strongly linked with moving to UKIP from reports on sky tonight
PAPA LAZAROU Posted 29 August 2014 Posted 29 August 2014 Our net-trade with the EU comes out as a sizable loss. I.e we import more than we export. Our clout in the EU is minimal because nobody likes David Cameron. Even less after his pathetic attempt to stop that bloke from Luxembourg being appointed. I despair with politics. Don't even get me started on Alistair Darling lieing through his back teeth about the North Sea oil being a burden for Scotland when the only reason Westminster don't want Scottish Independence is for the North Sea Oil companies tax revenues which makes up nearly a third of all UK Corporation Tax revenues. Eton level hypocrisy from the conservatives who hire a former UKIP leader to challenge Farage for East Thanet seat to goad voters into thinking 'he was UKIP leader and left to be a standard Conservative MP, therefore UKIP are crap'. When the shoe is on the other foot and they lose a MP to UKIP - its all oh what a counterproductive thing to do and call it disgraceful. Hypocrisy at its finest from the Eton educated deluded posh boys that run this country. Good grief have you any idea of how you sound ? First of all you are obviously not educated , no matter how hard you strive to convince others. you are a compilation of everything you have heard and saw , spouting other peoples ideas with not a single fresh idea your self. Hypocrisy is your middle name dear boy.
Webbo Posted 29 August 2014 Author Posted 29 August 2014 Two more Tories are strongly linked with moving to UKIP from reports on sky tonight They'll probably see which way the by election goes before they jump ship.
Guest Col city fan Posted 29 August 2014 Posted 29 August 2014 There are only 2 parties who can win the election, 1 that wants to reduce Immigration but can't and 1 that sent out search parties when they were in power. There's 1 that wants to renogiate with the EU and give a referendum and 1 that wants more integration. A vote for UKIP will only put Labour in. Dead right. I'd be more than happy to vote UKIP, but Christ knows I don't want another Labour Government. It's all academic anyway where I live. Blaby remains a sea of blue.

And the trade figures are from official government documentation that I have read in full. What's your view my dear boy? Anything to contribute other than your delusion above?
Guest Col city fan Posted 29 August 2014 Posted 29 August 2014 I suspect, very strongly that all this stuff about Rotherham is going to have some impact politically. If anything is going to play straight into the hands of UKIP and especially the BNP, its this.
Harry - LCFC Posted 29 August 2014 Posted 29 August 2014 How many medicals did he have? None. UKIP with their vision of a deregulated economy want to throw all that health and safety nonsense out the window. Let the market's work God damn it!
Guest MattP Posted 30 August 2014 Posted 30 August 2014 Bloody hilarious,,,,,hahaha!! When you say Labour care about the poor, does that include the working class kids they turn a blind eye to being gang raped to chase a few Muslim votes?
