Nalis Posted 9 November 2014 Posted 9 November 2014 If we'd scored that penalty against Palace, and we would be level. Exactly, all ifs and buts. Just adds to the theory that its not the highs that show your real character, its how you react in adversity particularly with something that was aviodable at the time
Spanner73 Posted 9 November 2014 Posted 9 November 2014 Like I've said before small margins are holding a side for 75 mins and then long a 12 million pound striker hits You with a double , at the end of the day that's it , he knew we needed more in the summer ie deeney , Campbell , but in the end he knows best for a manager who likes to be positive we sure are trying to hang in and play for draws as we can't score goals we have no penetration and creativity in midfield , but again " im happy with what I have " and yes it's fine lines but teams know a 1 nil will do because leicester have scored 1 in 6 away
Mike Oxlong Posted 9 November 2014 Posted 9 November 2014 Saw the thread title and thought Robin Thicke had brought out a new single
WardyisPukka Posted 9 November 2014 Posted 9 November 2014 Fine margins but the last four games there has been no fine margins as weve hardly created clear cut chances Pearson bangs about fine margins but yesterday wasnt about fine margins as we didnt have a single bloody shot on target
Fox92 Posted 9 November 2014 Posted 9 November 2014 If that wasn't, then by that standard you wouldn't have had a penalty against Man Utd, so, you wouldn't have made your comeback. So, in fact you'd be worse off. Never said it was a foul. Just very naive defending.
Finn Claw II Posted 9 November 2014 Posted 9 November 2014 The one positive of the last few games is that Burnley are dross as are West Brom. Add QPR, Palace, Sunderland and VIlla into the mix and we stand a fighting chance of staying up. I'm not even sure wholesale changes to the side are needed just a style of play that suits the players and is a threat going forward. I don't think we are world beaters but I think we are capable of more than we've shown in the last few games.
inckley fox Posted 9 November 2014 Posted 9 November 2014 To be honest, I'm fed up of hearing about fine margins. Over the past six games we've had 31 shots, 14 on target. Meanwhile the sides playing against us have had 64 shots and 32 on target. We've been comfortably overwhelmed and lucky not to lose by more goals on several occasions. After the Palace game several pundits were pointing out that our work-rate was questionable, but our managers, players and a fair few people on here were positive that nothing was wrong. Just as they were equally positive when we lost to Peterborough back in January 2013. Against Newcastle and Swansea we were outright lazy, and neutrals were of the view that we offered virtually nothing in either game. Against Burnley we attempted to defend a narrow lead for the whole second half, against Southampton we tried to defend a goalless draw for 90 minutes, against West Brom we created two clear chances at home against struggling opposition. These aren't fine margins. This is a side that's creating half the number of chances as the teams it plays against, and scoring a fifth of the number of goals. The very least we should expect is a sensible line-up and formation and full commitment from the players, and we're not getting either. All of which means that, against players of superior experience, the margins are going to be far from fine. Over a game or two you can talk about fine margins, but to use the term in reference to a six game run of miserable form at the beginning of a season is nothing more than applying a thin leaf of paper to a great big gaping crack.

This...fine margins, I'm afraid, is bollox. We've been shite. We all know it. Time for improvement.

Guest ttfn Posted 9 November 2014 Posted 9 November 2014 So, how many points did you pick up from these dross teams? Enough to still be ahead of you. For now...
BlackburnClaret Posted 9 November 2014 Posted 9 November 2014 Enough to still be ahead of you. For now... Ha, yea, Too many pound notes for a two point cushion?
Corky Posted 9 November 2014 Posted 9 November 2014 Ha, yea, Too many pound notes for a two point cushion? In terms of wages, transfer fees etc we should be 19th so we aren't that much different compared to the rest.
Guest ttfn Posted 9 November 2014 Posted 9 November 2014 In terms of wages, transfer fees etc we should be 19th. Pearson for manager of the year.
Corky Posted 9 November 2014 Posted 9 November 2014 Pearson for manager of the year. He started it If the league was decided on wages paid and transfer fees then we would be second bottom, QPR trounce us on both and all the others must've spent more than £15 million in the last two years on transfers or gone way past our supposed wage cap. Fortunately we have proved we can upset teams and need to do it again. All the best Sean
BlackburnClaret Posted 9 November 2014 Posted 9 November 2014 Corky, you love love these Burnley / Leicester debates, you're forever starting them.
Corky Posted 9 November 2014 Posted 9 November 2014 Am I? If you've got a Babylon style memory of people's posts then fair enough, but I usually only respond to something you or another Burnley fan has said or a Dyche comment, or talk about your game/ ask for your views. Don't recall starting any threads about comparisons.
Captain... Posted 10 November 2014 Posted 10 November 2014 Its not fine margins What if? Aint real life I am afraid. Facts are we aint scored now for six games piss poor at anylevel of football.Nobody wanted to correct him?Too busy wallowing in self pity and desperation to point out a blatant lie. We last scored 2 games ago, we last scored for ourselves 5 games ago. Against Burnley, so 4 games without a goal, 3 of them away from home. Still poor, but let's not get so desperate to slag off the team I love that we start making up shit.
