Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 9 November 2014 Posted 9 November 2014 KasperRDLMorgan WasylSchluppCambiassoHammondAlbrightonPowellMahrezVardy.Bench: Hamer, Moore, Drinkwater, James, Knockaert, Ulloa, Nugent.
Thracian Posted 9 November 2014 Posted 9 November 2014 Kasper, DeLaet (or AN Other), Morgan, Moore, Konchesky, Drinkwater, King, Schlupp Albrighton/Mayrez, Vardy, Ulloa. Some selections are marginal. Subs... Hamer, Konchesky, Wasilewski, James, Knockaert, Wood, Nugent or Powell, The emphasis is on passing, pace out wide, partnerships, crossing considerations and goals potential. I thought long and had about having Wasilewski in the centre but he's always a risk and his distribution just not good enough. Schlupp is perfectly competent on the left of midfield and gives us the potential for width, pace and crossing on that side without sacrificing one of the strikers. It's not perfect and the loss of James bothers me but he doesn't offer a goal threat and King does - or should - as well as his being useful from set-pieces at either end. Drinkwater's inclusion is not 100% either in his current form but the combined passing ability of Drinkwater, King, Schlupp should ensure plenty of options and accuracy. It puts a lot of responsibility on Schlupp but I think he'd flourish in various ways. Konchesky would provide support rather than needing to be a 90-minute overlapping full-back which is beyond him now. Within the system Ulloa should get the crosses he needs and Vardy the chance of getting behind defenders. I'd try to use Wood more off the bench. He's gets chances and with confidence he'll convert some. PS: Yes i do think DeLaet's a weakness but I don't see any alternatives. Moore's not fast enough to be a wing back. As others say, it's not easy and there's a lot that's not ideal.
MooseBreath Posted 9 November 2014 Posted 9 November 2014 Amazing how many people are going with 433 and even the diamond considering how badly we've performed playing these formations, not just this season but also in the recent past. Last season we played predominantly 442 and often 4231 with Nuge dropping back but still with out and out wingers. People say 442 isn't a premier league formation (which is nonsense anyway) but 4231 is among the most commonly used formations in the league. The difference between the two is marginal, we could play any sensible back four, any two central midfielders, any two proper wingers, Ulloa or Vardy up front and then either another striker or an attacking midfielder in the centre of the three, depending on how attacking of defensive you wanted to be.
Dickov22 Posted 9 November 2014 Posted 9 November 2014 Kasper De Laet Moore Morgan Schlupp Cambiasso Mahrez definitely definitely definitely James Drinkwater Ulloa Vardy
GingerrrFox Posted 9 November 2014 Posted 9 November 2014 The diamond wouldn't be a problem if we actually played it correctly. Drinkwater either plays the holding role or not at all, he's not suited and quite frankly wasted playing on either side. Kasper Simpson Wasyl Morgan Schlupp Cambiasso/Drinkwater Powell James Mahrez Vardy Ulloa
jmono84 Posted 9 November 2014 Posted 9 November 2014 For me, its sort of a 4-2-3-1 / 4-5-1 with two holding midfielders and 2 attacking mids with Vardy just behind Ulloa with freedom to go on the wings if needed. Ulloa is briefed to stay in the centre when attacking. Kasper Schlupp (if he was briefed to stay back) Wasyl Morgan De Laet (havent seen enough of Simpson) Drinkwater James Mahrez Knocky (only one who can take a corner it seems) Vardy Ulloa Between first draft and hitting the post button I must have changed the team about 5/6 times, which tells its own story. Sure I wasnt the only one either. This is the team I would pick but I'd have king or Powell in for vards... I love the guy but I don't think he will be able to play this type of role. This selection genuinely gets me excited but unfortunately I don't think I'll ever get to see it in action
Osavo Posted 9 November 2014 Posted 9 November 2014 Schmeichel Simpson Was Wes Schlupp Albrighton James Drinkwater Mahrez Ulloa Vardy
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 9 November 2014 Posted 9 November 2014 No place for Drinkwater in mine.
Crazy Kop Corner Posted 9 November 2014 Posted 9 November 2014 I got the impression from yesterday that Nigel honestly believed that was our best 11 and that it's still not good enough; A mix of exasperation and non belief from him. I happen to more or less agree with him however. The only change I would have made is to have played Mahrez instead of King; who was largely animous again yesterday in my view. Best 11 for me:- Schmiechel De Laet Morgan Moore Sclupp Cambiasso Drinkwater James Mahrez Vardy Ulloa I thought we'd do better yesterday with the team he selected but clearly it doesn't have 90 minutes in it and has to absorb too much possession from the opposition. An outlet and soem much needed width in Mayrez and overlaps from Schlupp and De Laet (espeically at home)would definatley help our current limited creativity.
Father Ted Posted 9 November 2014 Posted 9 November 2014 Honestly... I'm torn between a 3-5-2 and a 4-4-2... 3-5-2: Schmeichel Wasilewski Morgan Moore De Laet -------------------------------Schlupp Drinkwater James Mahrez Vardy Ulloa This allows us to still play 3 in the middle that Pearson needs. De Laet and Schlupp are MADE to be wing backs. 4-4-2: Schmeichel De Laet Wasilewski Morgan Schlupp Mahrez James Drinkwater Knockaert Ulloa Vardy
Father Ted Posted 9 November 2014 Posted 9 November 2014 Incredible how many people are saying Simpson. You mugs will be begging for De Laet back when Simpson does play trust me.
Burbo17J2 Posted 9 November 2014 Posted 9 November 2014 Hamer - only game we kept a clean sheet is with him in goal ----------- RDL - Haven't seen enough of Simpson to say he would be in our best 11 Morgan - Best player this season Was - been solid since he came in to the side Schlupp - I think he proved today that he is far better that Konch at LB ----------- Mahrez - Skillfull and has a good shot on him. Creative player. King - Best midfielder this season Drinkwater - when he plays well, the team plays well. Knockaert - I think if he had a good run of games he would be fantastic ----------- Ulloa - Scored 5 goals this season so we know what he is capable of. Vardy - his pace is scary for defenders. Cambiasso can fvuck off. We offer him a contract extension and he says "I'll wait until the end of the season and see what league Leicester are in" Who the hell do you think you are you money grabbing tw*t! This would be my team as well. But maybe swap Knockaert with Albrighton depending on his form
