EnglishOxide Posted 9 November 2014 Posted 9 November 2014 -------------------Kasper----------------- --RDL-------Wasyl-------Morgan----Konch--- -Mahrez----James----Drinkwater----Schluup- ------------Nugent------Vardy------------ Perfect balance. Pace down the wings. Pace and work rate up front. Experience in defence. Schluup can work as a direct replacement for Dyer if asked to. The skill and pace of Mahrez on the right. Nugent has to be in there for his work rate and ability to help out the midfield by dropping deeper. Ulloa is no good to us if we can't keep the ball against these better teams (due to him not being as fit or fast as Nuge). Keep it on the deck and play direct. Simples.
KentyLCFC Posted 9 November 2014 Posted 9 November 2014 Kasper Simpson (quality player we need to play him, none of that "not seen enough" bollocks. He is better than de laet) Morgan © Moore Schlupp Albrighton James Drinkwater Mahrez Ulloa Vardy Subs: Hamer Wasyl Cambiasso Wood Nugent Knockaert
WardyisPukka Posted 9 November 2014 Posted 9 November 2014 What a surprise no one uses the diamond formation! Schmeichel Simpson - Morgan - Wasilewski - Konchesky(positioning is a bit better than jeffs but thats the only difference) Albrighton - James - Drinkwater - Mahrez Ulloa - Vardy
foxfan92 Posted 9 November 2014 Posted 9 November 2014 -------------------Kasper-------------------RDL-------Wasyl-------Morgan----Schluup--------James----Cambiasson-----Hammond--Mahrez----------Ulloa------Vardy------------ Subs : Hamer, Moore, King, Drinkwater, Knockaert, Konch, Nugent, While I think individually both Drinkwater and King are better than Hammond, when Hammond has played we've looked a better team. Him and Cambiasso bossed the team about and we played with real passion. I think we've lost something since he stopped playing.
Dan Posted 9 November 2014 Posted 9 November 2014 Amazing how few have Cambiasso, myself included. He is without a doubt a quality footballer but I just don't think he fits us at all.
LCFCCKEANO Posted 9 November 2014 Posted 9 November 2014 James is probably one of 4 players right now who stay in the prem even if we were relegated, others being Mahrez, Vardy and Ulloa

Simples. better team than most, and agree with comments about alloa, his early goals seem to have hypnotised people into thinking he is irreplaceable, it is obvious by now the vardy, alloa combo stifles each other and the team, also pearson needs a labotomy if he thinks mahraz is not in his best eleven.
iancognito Posted 9 November 2014 Posted 9 November 2014 Kasper Moore Konchesky Wasyl Morgan Cambiasso Hammond King Mahrez Knockaert Vardy Not sure exactly what the question is, who are the best players so far or what would I pick? This is the formation I think we'd be best in. I haven't seen anything of Simpson yet and RDL is trotting around in dreamland, so Moore gets in because he's the most solid option. 3 sitting quite tight in the middle, Hammond & King have worked better than the invisible Drinkwater and our king of corner kicks James. I know a few people are doubting if Cambiasso fits the team but he can pick a pass better than any of them. Mahrez, Knockaert and Vardy will scare any defence especially on the counter. If Lescott had had these going at him last week instead of a static diamond we'd have got 3 points. I've not put Ulloa in because I think we play better without a big man and I agree with the point that him & Vardy just don't gel together. Nugent might be an option instead of Knockaert but he just looks like he knows he's not cutting it at the top level.
Nalis Posted 9 November 2014 Posted 9 November 2014 For me, its sort of a 4-2-3-1 / 4-5-1 with two holding midfielders and 2 attacking mids with Vardy just behind Ulloa with freedom to go on the wings if needed. Ulloa is briefed to stay in the centre when attacking. Kasper Schlupp (if he was briefed to stay back) Wasyl Morgan De Laet (havent seen enough of Simpson) Drinkwater James Mahrez Knocky (only one who can take a corner it seems) Vardy Ulloa Between first draft and hitting the post button I must have changed the team about 5/6 times, which tells its own story. Sure I wasnt the only one either.
Guest Col city fan Posted 9 November 2014 Posted 9 November 2014 I would revert back to what worked last year...and stick with it. A little pace and trickery on the flanks with Knockaert and Mahrez. James alongside Drinkwater And Vardy alongside Nugent. Give Simmo his chance at RB, Schlupp left, with Morgan playing alongside Wasa. Bin Cambiasso and Ulloa for the meantime. We operate best as a side with PACE. We always did under Pearson. And both Cambiasso and Ulloa are too slow to accomodate in a side where you want to play at a quick tempo. 4-4-2...
st albans fox Posted 9 November 2014 Posted 9 November 2014 If you play EC, you need to play a holding two and I suggest DH for that role. That means 4-2-3-1 so if you need a three In front which has width then you have RM and JS or AKn.If you want to play narrow, you can have DD, MJ, AK. Either way, you then have an issue with one up front. Is Ulloa mobile enough to play isolated? is vardy good enough to play on his own up there? the end result of this musing is that EC isn't fit/mobile enough to play holding on his own and this compromises the rest of the team. if the owners are ok about us yoyo ing down and up, I imagine they won't tinker with too much as we should be able to get promoted again with this squad. If they are desperate for us to keep our prem status, then Nigel won't survive till Xmas.
Mickyblueeyes Posted 9 November 2014 Posted 9 November 2014 I wouldn't say it is the best but an educated guess as to what might work in the next few games: KS Simpson Moore Morgan Schlupp Cambiasso Drinkwater James Mahrez Ulloa Knockaert
Rob1742 Posted 9 November 2014 Posted 9 November 2014 Think you need s few starting elevens. At home against the likes of West Brom etc, 4/3/3. Then away to the likes of Southampton, Chelsea etc a diamond is fine. The issue is we need to move to a more attacking situation against the likes of West Brom, and Newcastle away as I genuinly believe that last seasons team and line up could handle these games. Playing a diamond against West Brom is just like playing chess with someone who has been there and done it and is better at it than you. Against Sunderland Kasper RDL Schlupp Was Morgan Cambiasso Drinkwater Knockaert Mahrez Vardy Ulloah Subs Wood Liam King Albrighton Smith Konchesky
katieakita Posted 9 November 2014 Posted 9 November 2014 Would try a 3-5-2 formation, Kasper Moore Wasy Morgan Schlupp Mahrez Drinkwater James Cambiasso Vardy Ulloa
Guest ttfn Posted 9 November 2014 Posted 9 November 2014 Amazing how few have Cambiasso, myself included. He is without a doubt a quality footballer but I just don't think he fits us at all. Problem is he necessitates a minimum 3 man midfield and we can't play 4-3-3 for shit, so it's either a flat 4-4-2 with Cambiasso out of the side or a diamond and no more goals and no more points ever.
seenitall Posted 9 November 2014 Posted 9 November 2014 Kasper Moore Was Wes Jeff Mahrez Camb King Knocky Vardy Ulloa (Wood after 55 mins if no goal)

Jimothy Posted 9 November 2014 Posted 9 November 2014 We've not played a settled 11 enough to decide which formation and players are best. But I know this current 11 isn't the best we can put out. I think we have three option of formation 4-2-3-1 Kasper De Laet/Simpson (either will do) Morgan Moore/Was Schlupp Drinkwater/James Cambiasso/King (Any combination of two of those four) Mahrez Knockaert Albrighton Ulloa 4-3-3 Kasper De Laet/Simpson Morgan Moore/Was Schlupp Cambiasso Drinkwater James (Or King or any of those three) Mahrez Ulloa Vardy Or 4-4-2 Kasper De Laet/Simpson Morgan Moore/Was Schlupp Mahrez Drinkwater/Cambiasso James/King Albrighton Ulloa Vardy
theessexfox Posted 9 November 2014 Posted 9 November 2014 Kasper De Laet Was Wes Schlupp Knockaert King James Mahrez Vardy Ulloa
theessexfox Posted 9 November 2014 Posted 9 November 2014 Width was essential to our early success, when we weren't trembling about playing (good) Premier League sides; Konchesky's cross to Ulloa, Schlupp's cross to Ulloa, Vardy's cross to Ulloa, etc. We played with wingers and we were doing well. Would like to see it return.
