StanSP Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 Good performance from him. I think he only needed to come off his line to deal with a cross once and he did so fine. Not convinced his distribution is as good as Kasper's. Or at least it's not better. His kicking needs some improvement and I hate how he leaves it til the last second to kick it . That's a minor point, however. I'm glad he gets a run of games so he can prove himself and get better at the same time hopefully. I don't think he was thoroughly tested today and next week could be telling; West Ham are a team who like to get balls in to the box and will do so more than Man City did today. Decent show today but actually had little to do.
cjslcfc Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 Let's not build him up to knock him down again. He had a solid game but had very little to do. Solid save from Toure. Certainly more active in his box than stuck-in-the-mud Kasper has been. Decent punch at one point and he did make me feel a bit more confident. Long way to go though. Why do we always insist on making our minds up about a player after one or two games? Like Simpson he had a good game but I'm saving my judgement until I've seen a lot more of them.
Guest ttfn Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 his punch landed to a player on the edge of the box. Yes, but given that 3 weeks ago our goalkeeper allowed the ball to travel 40 yards into the six yard box at Loftus Road you'll forgive the excitement and seeing a keeper leave his line. Better to clear to the edge of the box than concede a header.
ADK Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 I thought his kicking was alright. He gets his head up and aims for where our players are rather than going for maximum distance all the time. Thought the save from Toure was better than it looked (Toure should have scored though).
sdb Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 He was fine but basically had v little to do. Kasper would've had exactly the same game, bar one cross Hamer came for, and several kicks that Kasper would've dealt with a little cooler.
lestajigs Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 Thought he played well tbf, don't know if that warrants a first team place though

To be fair that cross with Kasper in goal could have ended up with the ball in our net.
iamafox Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 Did okay today, seems to take more control of his own box than Kasper does. It'll be interesting to see how he deals with Andy Carroll next week.
Buzzell Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 Decent display from the lad. Fair play to him.
Grewks Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 Much more impressive than kasper. Just the little things like the punch, as well as coming out in an attempt to beat the striker to the ball, are improvements on Kasper. Personally thought his kicking was fine today. Much better than Hart's, and we actually won a lot of headers because his kicking was much flatter, rather than Kasper who just launches it too high and leaves our forwards with no chance.

Didn't think we won that many headers. Sagna bossed us in the air down our left side. Can't think of a header that Vardy/Ulloa won because Kompany is just so dominant. I'm usually impressed with Vardy in the air but against Kompany he didn't have much of a chance.
Dan Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Did well. Nothing spectacular but nothing I can really slag him off for. Better from set pieces than Schmeichel though I'd imagine it's hard not to be. Made a couple of decent saves. Distribution wasn't noticeably bad either. Solid from him.
Rob1742 Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 From both a financial and football point if view, I would accept an offer for Kasper if one came in, in January. He is decent, but prone to mistakes, so I would be happy to take the money and go with Hamer.

I thought we should have cashed in when the supposed interest from Real Madrid was there, would have helped FFP while we were in the Championship and enabled us to get a free replacement who's at least as good and have allowed us to invest elsewhere too while keeping below ridiculous spending limitsSchmeichel was a saleable asset before the season started, not sure who'd buy him now
Rob1742 Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Needs to lose that beard. I haven't really seen enough to say he is a better option than a Kasper. I just personally think it would be good to have a keeper with a big beard.
cc_star Posted 14 December 2014 Author Posted 14 December 2014 Needs to lose that beard. It's the source of his powers!
StanSP Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 I'm pretty sure it's been scientifically proven that a goal-keeper with a beard is infinitely more frightening than a clean-shaven keeper.
CPW22 Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Dealt with everything and didn't look out of place. Got slightly worried in the first ten minutes when he came to claim a free kick but Kompany put it back across the box, luckily no one was there.
L1wood Posted 16 December 2014 Posted 16 December 2014 For me Hamer did really well he was calm when the occasion could have got the better of him. Sitting at the front of L1 you can hear him barking out orders all game from him box which you don't hear from Kasper . All you hear is him ranting & waving when things go wrong which some players won't react to . Hamer was calm & clear but got his point across what he wanted his back 4 to do
MrSpaM Posted 16 December 2014 Posted 16 December 2014 Don't shave the beard Ben Hamers beard I just don't think you understand Cos if you shave the beard Ben Hamers beard He's gonna lose the power of his hands
Babylon Posted 16 December 2014 Posted 16 December 2014 Is this some kind of a joke thread? He had barely anything to do all bloody afternoon.
Bettsj2 Posted 16 December 2014 Posted 16 December 2014 Is this some kind of a joke thread? He had barely anything to do all bloody afternoon. This. One shot saved and one cross punched. Wow. Lets see how he does this Saturday. I'm hoping a cross comes in early and he clatters everyone out of his way and claims it comfortably.
Soar Fox Posted 16 December 2014 Posted 16 December 2014 Is this some kind of a joke thread? He had barely anything to do all bloody afternoon. I can only remember him doing 2 things of note. Saving Toure's shot and coming out punching a corner. Both he did well at. He didn't have much to do at all. Let's see how he gets on this weekend when Andy Carroll is charging in at him.
