Fouling, amassing cards, playing dirty: A way to success in the Premier League?

lol lol lol lol

As you can quite easily see, Ben Mee does as Ben Mee does.

Absolutely clatters Vardy and gets nowhere near the ball. The most stonewall penalty we've had in years.

God, I miss having Vokes and Ings up front.

When he got sandwiched between two of your players? Ok obviously not a foul and I'm sure you'd be screaming for it at the other end.

I said this after West Brim game, they did a number on us, all game they were slowing play down making niggly fouls to just stop any sort of momentum and got in the ref's ear over everything even after the game they were bleating on about Wasilewski. I don't want us to be that kind of a side but if refs and the FA are going to continue to be spineless and allow teams to get away with this then we have to either play them at their own game or accept we will be disadvantaged.

I said this to my friend after the Newcastle and Villa games, not saying we would have gone on to get anything from the games but picking up a yellow to stop play and possibly prevent a goal seems worth it, against Villa there was a chance for someone to bring Abonglahor down but he just blitzed down the wing on the counter, in that scenario I think other teams would have taken the yellow and reorganised

We've been like this for a couple of years.

Either one of King or Schlupp should have put Anya in the stands in the semi final of the playoffs when Deeney scored.

Completely agree. The Captain is right i think. The game is going soft. Has gone soft? The terrible ref we had last Saturday blew his whistle for EVERYTHING. Even the slightest little touch was a free kick. I hate it, but to compete against these nonsense rules we have to get more savvy as a team. We are actually too nice.

The absolute sad truth here I'm afraid.

It's terrible what a mess the FA have allowed it to get into.

Just lol at how anyone thinks Vardy v Burnley was a dive. Jesus.

It's gone soft years ago. The authorities, players and the fans are all to blame. Fans crying if they get a bit of stick back from a manager, players on the pitch writhing in agony and falling over when they have barely been touched.

But the FA take most of the blame, when a player touches someone on the face and the other player falls to the floor in agony, the player who touched the bloke gets a three game ban and nothing happens to the one who got him sent off, it's disgraceful.

Second in line are the managers, fans and pundits, the ones who say things like 'he's entitled to go down' - 'well, you can't raise your hands can you' or 'there is slight contact' - Instead they should be saying 'Actually no, the guy is a fcuking cheat and I'll be banning, fining him' or whatever. The way our fans defended Knockaert after Watford was pathetic, we deserved what we got for the blatent bit of prestidigitation.

It's a game where cheats like Ferguson and Mourinho prosper and are being lauded as legends, in any other sport they would have had to change their ways or they would have been kicked out.

It's true, we are losing out through our lack of Prem know-how, but I would prefer us to counter that by toughening up and learning to show more nous than sinking to the methods described.

For example, Agbonlahor was tracked by 2 of our men when he started out on the touchline, but instead of doubling up to press him and hem him in, they stood off and allowed him to turn inside. Exactly the same with Nasri. We didn't need to foul them to stifle the threat.

From my seat I thought Mangala got the ball and Vardy went over in the follow through. Fair tackle and not a dive. Vardy dived for a free kick against Liverpool. He initiated the contact v Man United, wasn't a penalty.

Dived last season? Not once. He was just too quick, both in pace and wit, for defenders and keepers.

Too far too see clearly from my seat, but MOTD slow-mo showed it to be a nailed-on pen. Such is our luck at the moment.

We're not horrible. Not enough anyway. We've got Wasyl who will do it but who else? It's how Stoke established themselves. Teams hated playing against them because they were so physical.

We can never be as physical as Stoke were. Guys like King, Mahrez, Knocky, Drinky etc ain't big enough.

The thing is, diving is cheating and absolutely disgusting. On the other hand, fouling isn't cheating, slowing the game down, breaking up an opponents momentum isn't cheatjng either. You foul, you get penalised with a freekick and card, sometimes it's worth it, sometimes it isn't, but I'd say conceding 4 yellows over a few games and preventing a few goal scoring opportunities is worth it (assuming not every foul is given a yellow). It's tactics which good managers enforce and expect from their players.

One thing that makes me wonder whether the players are willing to do this is NP's selection policy. Say, King is on 3 yellows, knowing another couple would see him miss a game, even though he has done it for the team and to get a result, there's no guarantee that he's going to go straight back into the team.
