Open Letter to Whoever Runs first4LCFC

And credit to this site for keeping me posting for the many years I've accumulated that number.

Your site isn't a reputable source, it's simply a glorified Twitter feed with tenuous links to players we hardly ever sign. I personally wouldn't see any value in maintaining it; but as you've rightly pointed out, that's my subjective opinion.

Which member of the team am I talking to now?

1. Have you ever visited our Twitter feed? I'm sure you'll be in for a surprise that it is not just transfer stories (other than today, as obviously it's deadline day).

2. Anyone with an ounce of knowhow wouldn't regard us as reputable. They see us as a one-stop outlet for LCFC transfer gossip. Ie. Rather than scrolling down Twitter to see what other people have written, we bring it direct to them.

3. I don't see how providing you with my name will add any value. No one on here uses their real name.

How, from what I have been quotes as saying there, have you come to the conclusion we are "openly admitting to being very narrowly target clickbait?"

I am bemused.

You sound like you're hiring staff to work on your little project.  To hire staff there must be a cashflow.  To have a cashflow you must be making money off ads as you don't appear to sell anything.  To make money off ads you need to target a specific audience to get them to click on them (=clickbait).  In this case the audience is fans of one football team in particular (=narrow target).  Ergo clickbait which is very narrowly targeted.

FIF, I have tried it. I want to like it. I have a box of snack sized Toblerones in the cupboard and I have eaten the dark ones and the regular ones and I am left with the white ones - and every time I spot the box I forget that I have eaten the good stuff and that I am left with the ones that I don't like. It makes me sad. Do you want me to post them to you?

please.

It'd be doing you a favour.

Their biggest mistake was launching themselves as having actual contacts and the information being from their sources (please don't even try to deny this), when in reality it was clear it wasn't. They denied it and denied it and then did a massive about turn further down the line, and now just say they collate all the news in one place. They were taking information from this site and elsewhere and passing it off as it's own, whilst also spamming this site under multiple user names to get their cack links out there.

With that in mind, it's not a shock people have a problem with them. I certainly have a less of a problem than I did at the start, but I still have a problem with anyone stating them as a decent source, which still happens from time to time. I also have a problem with people linking to their website, which then contains a story nabbed from elsewhere. When the OP could have linked directly to the original, that to me looks like nothing more than an attempt to generate clicks via a certain group of posters on here. It's the same people most of the time, really not hard to work out who they are.

We don't have 'staff.' We have volunteers who want to write for us. We put up a Twitter/Facebook ad prior to the season and saw a number of people interested in writing for us.

Reasons behind their desire are varied. We categorically, do not pay anyone to write for us and never will.

Ha ha.... Very true. I have also decided that I am going to start campaigning on one-or-two of those issues. Definitely going to try to call for a ban on women's trousers that look like skirts!

I don't like them either but I absolutely hate those trousers that look like a baby's full nappy.

Do you make money off the ads still though?  If so maybe some of it should be passed onto those working for you to make that money.

I can guarantee you that we do not post any articles on here. We might have right at the start, maybe 2010 or so? But now, we realise its frowned upon on here and fair enough!

Furthermore we have visibility of FoxesTalk as guests, but this is our only account posting on here also. We decided it was about time to speak up and clear any false beliefs.

With respect, how and who we might want to pay is an internal decision!

please give over.

They are no worse than any other twitter source for LCFC and better than some.

They are probably just City fans putting a lot of effort into getting info out there.

If you don't like them don't click on their links

simples.

Now back to the chocolates.

1. Yes, never followed because of the poor reputation over transfers.

2. Openly non-reputable, then what's the point in maintaining a site named "first4lcfc"?!

3. I was pissing about in relation to your previous comment that you've got a few on your team. All I'm envisioning as I watch SSN is a few students monitoring the #LCFC hashtag lol

I'm not coming back in here since I previously mentioned how I'm not fussed. Jokes and piss taking aside, best of luck IMPROVING your site. I won't be using it as is, but you never know in future.

All they do is compile a load of LCFC news, a bit like other websites.

I just get frustrated with the people on here that quote them. Stuff from this site belongs in the twitter thread.

To be sure it's nothing to do with me where your gains go.  I just find it interesting that people are willing to aggregate Leicester City news for you in their spare time for no reimbursement.  Do they think it will help their CV?

We have one content writer who covers all transfer news stories.

We have one member of the team who runs their own YouTube channel, and we provide him with a much wider audience.

We have one content writer who enjoys giving their own view, again to a much wider audience then what they could achieve posting themselves.

Then, we have myself. I stick to social updates. Don't fiddle with the writing anymore.

Twitter should be banned altogether.

Should be on here. Literally just some random people making up a deal which gets passed on.

Surprised that twitter hasn't been banned on this forum.

I have, Col has, Una has, etc... but not Twitter and that spews far worse rubbish.

I guess the name was just a name that we created years back when this got underway. We didn't ever anticipate us growing as large as we did.

Obviously now we have a site etc. it would be quite a hassle to change domain names and so on.

Whilst the name is First, maybe its time to look past that and see its just a brand and the information is sourced.

Actually its not that hard at all. Transferring domain names is easy you do not have to change hosts. Just make sure you 301 redirect everything.

The logo will be a site wide header so that's just the one change. You could then search and replace the phrase 'first4lcfc' en mass within all your content.

Its so true - a name is everything - such a fine line between success and failure sometimes and a name can make all the difference.

For the amount of effort it takes i'd definitely change your name.

We have one content writer who covers all transfer news stories.  Probably this site's main offender.

We have one member of the team who runs their own YouTube channel, and we provide him with a much wider audience. I'll have to take your word for it there, I've been through the first few pages of your site and none of the identi-links jumped out as being a link to a youtube channel.  If it's who I think you mean then the guy should spend more time focusing on getting other people to participate in his videos than pushing them, nobody wants to watch one bloke list off his opinions for 12 minutes at a time it simply isn't enjoyable viewing.  If it's someone else ignore all that!

We have one content writer who enjoys giving their own view, again to a much wider audience then what they could achieve posting themselves.  The stat guy?  If so that probably will help your site gain much needed credibility.

Then, we have myself. I stick to social updates. Don't fiddle with the writing anymore. Could you fiddle with the layout?  My eyes hurt from trying to use your site...

Look, with respect again we are doing fine as we are. We have a loyal following. You, amongst other people don't like the site or the concept. Great.

I can only hope you have your eyes seen to regarding the pain. Sounds unhealthy.

It's one thing doing a 301 redirect. This comes with a lot of collateral which I will not go into as there is no need. Things such as NewsNow acceptance, our entire Wordpress config. etc.
