Open Letter to Whoever Runs first4LCFC

Recommended Posts

Posted this in another thread, but gathered it is better placed in here. Apologies for the delay, I know you guys have been waiting avidly...

Think its about time I put an end to this tomfoolery...

This is the admin behind First4LCFC. Fed up of all this 'First4 know nothing' tripe...

We source everything we post, none of which we claim we are ITK for - We solely collate all web sources and put them in one convenient place for people who take the time to read on our page.

If I was a follower I'd appreciate everything being in one place to read, whether you choose to believe it or not is your choice, no? We really do not differ from any other news service provider.

Social media, for many, is seen as a place to read 'gossip' or stay in the loop over things which the official LCFC page obviously wouldn't mention til it's a done deal. That is fair enough. People who only want the 'official' news are entitled to only go by these 'credible' sources. Alternatively, we invite users who see the fun in 'transfer rumours' and don't take them too seriously as if it's 100% going to happen...

Furthermore, I'd like to think our Twitter & Facebook page is more than just transfer rumours. We like to involve the audience and do polls etc.

You have to understand this is an account which started off as a bit of fun. I have a full-time job and only have a team of 3 people. If I was to treat it as a serious sports journalism account I'd have to dedicate full-time hours to it. Of course it'd be great to make the articles more 'professional' and add extra information and background but we simply don't have time for it. We do our best with what the limited resources we have.

We are slowly expanding and making our service more interactive with the likes of a YouTube channel and articles provided by our followers.

Thanks in advance... Roll on the typical sarcastic comments...

It's the "first" bit which is thick because you are not actually first for anything you even admit yourself you just collate other sources.

Maybe change the name to goingontheinternetgooglingleicestercityuntilsomethingcomesupmidlyinteresting4lcfc

I think the problem is the name. FIRST4lcfc. Yet you have just admitted you are not first that you source everything.

I guess the name was just a name that we created years back when this got underway. We didn't ever anticipate us growing as large as we did.

Obviously now we have a site etc. it would be quite a hassle to change domain names and so on.

Whilst the name is First, maybe its time to look past that and see its just a brand and the information is sourced.

One thing I never get with these sites is the obsession with using the word "we".

Let's face it, it's one bloke sat behind a computer screen scowering the web for Leicester news.

I can assure you it's not 'one bloke sat behind a computer screen scouring the web...'

We have a slowly expanding team and there is nothing wrong with that. We just provide a service for those who wish to follow.

Here is an idea..... Just do not read it! I have never been to the site before 5 minutes ago and probably will not again, but why does it need a thread set up to 'bash' it. Totally weird. Think it is shite then do not read it! I think coffee cake tastes awful and so I don't eat it. It doesn't offend me if I see it on a menu, and I certainly don't need to tell other people not to eat it. I also don't like the Daily Mail, those trousers on women that pretend to be a skirt but are in fact trousers, edam, sugar puffs (they go soft to quickly), white chocolate, books that start with descriptions of landscapes, people who live on their smart phones (especially during a meal), Facebook, Dale Winton, Twilight 1, 2 and 3, white suits on men (unless for a joke), twitter, the Conservative Party, organized religion, and many more marginally offensive and at the same time trivial things, but I am not openly calling for them to be removed from society (except the Daily Mail).

Superb analogies.

Just don't eat the coffee cake if you don't like it guys  :trumpet:

How can you not like White Chocolate?

Are you a chocolate snob?

Valid point, but how about when you're in Sainsbury's looking for a nice, moist, victoria sponge and someone is shoving this aforementioned coffee cake in your grill?

That's the transfer section when this bullshit website makes any form of link lol

I'm actually not overly bothered by it. I don't use the website, and every time I see the name attached I simply switch off. It's more sad that someone dedicates time to this sort of thing really.

A very fine subjective opinion of 'sad.'

I can name numerous individuals (including yourself) that have posted in excess of 4,000 times on a forum. Arguably, this takes as much time and attention as running my social accounts does...

But hey ho... I'm sad  :(

FIF, I have tried it. I want to like it. I have a box of snack sized Toblerones in the cupboard and I have eaten the dark ones and the regular ones and I am left with the white ones - and every time I spot the box I forget that I have eaten the good stuff and that I am left with the ones that I don't like. It makes me sad. Do you want me to post them to you?

Anybody who likes dark chocolate is just wrong. Send your white chocolate my way

but but but Renart.... you have told us all of those things ;)

Ha ha.... Very true. I have also decided that I am going to start campaigning on one-or-two of those issues. Definitely going to try to call for a ban on women's trousers that look like skirts!

And credit to this site for keeping me posting for the many years I've accumulated that number.

Your site isn't a reputable source, it's simply a glorified Twitter feed with tenuous links to players we hardly ever sign. I personally wouldn't see any value in maintaining it; but as you've rightly pointed out, that's my subjective opinion.

Which member of the team am I talking to now?

Wait, does that mean you make money out of f4LCFC?  Are you openly admitting to being very narrowly targeted clickbait?

How, from what I have been quotes as saying there, have you come to the conclusion we are "openly admitting to being very narrowly target clickbait?"

I am bemused.
