GaelicFox Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 You're starting to sound a little bit silly now. I was Being tongue in cheek , not the best medium for that They sold Ryan Gauld for 3m ....look him up he is or was the "Scottish Messi" Ryan could play and is very handy and has just made his debut for Sporting in Portugal If ryan worth 3m this lad Armstrong must be half that price max Scottish football is just so weak now , not sure anyone left up there outside Celtic is a serious star especially at his age I can't see him coming to City
dayday Posted 4 January 2015 Author Posted 4 January 2015 What other teams ??? No one has made a move including teams that have done business with them All looks like dundee united will be caught speeding on the price and be stuck with him I hope at that fee Leicester,Hull and Burnley are apparently interested teams. If true these teams have seen something that takes the eye.
Bamba's Babes Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 Pay the £4M! Once again people crying over someone else's money which as a club we can afford. He is 22 years old, the same as Jeff, and looks a proper product. Is the SPL any worse than the Croatian league? People are happy for us to pay £8M for Kramaric and imo, Armstrong's YouTube video looks better. Let's not kid ourselves, all we have is video clips of these players.
The_77 Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 Dundee United Average home league attendance 7,599 That's about the top of the FOURTH tier of English football !!! And they want £4m for the "star player" Do you get the car park and training ground with that ? If I had a crappy store but had one quality item that people with plenty of money were after, you bet I'd be able to charge a premium for it. I probably wouldn't be able to command as much as a high-end store but I'd make a decent profit on the item. The price for Armstrong has little to do with what Dundee is worth but, rather, what Armstrong is worth to the clubs interested in him. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
BMR Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 The £4m figure quoted is an attempt to stop Celtic once again taking their player. source : a Dundee United lifetime fan
ALC Fox Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 While I agree that the Scottish league is weak, it doesn't mean all players in it wouldn't succeed in the Premier League. Also, not every good player in the league is snapped up by the biggest club in it. I think Pearson's transfer policy has worked well so far and if he and his staff have identified Armstrong as a player that can improve the squad and/or starting XI then so be it.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 Would play Nugents role I imagine. We are crying out for an attacking midfielder.

phg Posted 5 January 2015 Posted 5 January 2015 There's a little bit of Gary Mac in some of those passes......Combined with strength and energy. Like most on here, know precious little about him, but he loooks the part and I'd trust our scouting team 100%..... And he is under 30, which is good for one of our current targets!
LCCFox96 Posted 5 January 2015 Posted 5 January 2015 If he is good enough for us, the right player and the price is perceived to be accurate enough based on current and potential ability then I couldn't care less which league a player came from providing they improved the squad. Scottish football is just so weak now , not sure anyone left up there outside Celtic is a serious star especially at his age You don't watch much Scottish football then. Both Aberdeen and Dundee United have some talented younger players who could easily, in time, cope with the journey south to play in England. Derek McInnes and Jackie McNamara have done excellent jobs at their respective clubs to put up a decent challenge in the title race to Celtic. How sustained the challenge will be is yet guess work, although Aberdeen are 4 points clear, but the gap between Celtic and the rest is closing.

I was a Celtic season ticket holder , and a founding member of a branch in Ireland , but the club was strangled dry and the league ruined , I still watch Celtic when I can , and I agree there is some unproven but well coached talent but none of them seem a £4m player , actually this guy looks ok , and one to buy for the future if we had buckets to spend , but we certainly don't have buckets to spend looking at what happened in summer and £4m could be used better right now
GaelicFox Posted 5 January 2015 Posted 5 January 2015 You might want to check how much Utd paid for Nick Powell if youre judging player value that way Look what they paid for veron , Anderson , nani, kilberson United spend lots of money on lots of shit , that's THIER issue , maybe the can afford to gamble that big
GaelicFox Posted 5 January 2015 Posted 5 January 2015 I fail to see why the considered strength of the SPL is such an issue here! The player can't help which league his club play in, just give his best and hope that gets him recognised... If the SPL is reckoned by some of you to be that weak, then I can only believe that you consider Ligue2, (the breeding ground of Anthony and Riyad), to be one of Europe's stronger divisions!! Both those players combined fee cost less than this guy in Scotland looks like costing some premier league team
dayday Posted 5 January 2015 Author Posted 5 January 2015 All the big ones I see Are you actually a Leicester fan? Celtic season ticket holder, whats all that about. And as the big ones i see,are you calling Leicester a little nomark of a club?

hackneyfox Posted 5 January 2015 Posted 5 January 2015 Poor teams have poor strikers yet Connolly, Hume and Fryatt were alright.Hume was far from alright, he relegated us.
GaelicFox Posted 5 January 2015 Posted 5 January 2015 Day day I actually chose Leicester as my my team and they have been for 20 plus years I moved to the locality back then and fell in love and gave up my seats at celtic park and started going down filbo Most irish people from the south will have a premiership team and celtic, it's a community thing I have probably spent 7-9k following city this year alone so don't be questioning my loyalty Pop in the pubs in town when united or Liverpool are playing and explain to me all the leicester accents shouting for those teams,my local team in ireland was Spud pickers united so at least I have an excuse for being a cletic fan growing up , what excuse have the Oadby Liverpool fans have? We are a club evolving we are the new boys and we have a current size and value that may grow if we stay up what I was trying to say we are the desperation buyers like the other two you mentioned, and as such we get raped on prices, that was the point I was making
Scotch Posted 5 January 2015 Posted 5 January 2015 Being Scottish, I've saw quite a lot of this boy, here are my thoughts.... He is a good prospect and I think he COULD be a really good EPL player in the future but it all depends on how much money we have to play with. Armstrong is NOT going to keep us up, he would maybe come in and do a good job here and there as he progresses as a footballer so if we want someone to come in NOW and provide the assists to keep us in the PL,we would be better getting someone else in. If however,we get in everyone we need/want and have a bit of cash left over,I would go for it as he does have a lot of potential. I also don't believe that he would cost 4m. Maybe 2m with some good add ons.

Eastwellfox Posted 5 January 2015 Posted 5 January 2015 Scottish football is shite! and im saying that a a Scotsman, very few players are worth £4 million £400k maybe The standard is shocking its League 1/championship quality dead right. Remember Mark Deep Freeze starred at Hearts and couldnt shoot straight down here in the championship.
