dayday Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 According to the Sun,Leicester want Dundee Uniteds Stuart Armstrong, but will not pay the £4 million asking fee. However,a big bid is lined up for the 22 year old midfielder. And the foxes are also still chasing Wigan midfielder Shaun Maloney after a 1 million bid was turned down. Interesting if true,do we need 2 more midfielders though?
jimmeh Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 The fact he's 22 and hasn't even made an appearance for Scotland yet says a lot.
Strokes Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 The fact he's 22 and hasn't even made an appearance for Scotland yet says a lot.Not really, our scouting record with these types of players has been pretty good.
emmpii8 Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 The fact he's 22 and hasn't even made an appearance for Scotland yet says a lot.Mahrez
jimmeh Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 Well if he is being signed for the future fair enough. But an SPL player who is uncapped by Scotland isn't what we need right this minute in my opinion
benpicko Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 He ain't Scottish ? He hadn't played for Algeria before we signed for him I think was his point. Saying that he trusts our scouts
Robin JD Popley Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 The obligatory Youtube clip. Must say he looks pretty good.
Freesolo Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 Scottish football is shite! and im saying that a a Scotsman, very few players are worth £4 million £400k maybe The standard is shocking its League 1/championship quality
davieG Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 None of our midfielders get in the box these days.
Fox92 Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 I wish people would get away from this "it's the SPL so he won't be good enough rubbish". We've seen a range of players come over and still look decent in England including the likes of Adam, Jelavic, McCarthur, McCarthy, Wallace, Snodgrass, Wanyama and Robertson (who signed for Hull in the summer and has only played about 5 times for Scotland but he looks good - in fact I'd have him over Konchesky).
ealingfox Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 Got a lot of time for Dundee United and I've seen this guy play a few times, yet I really couldn't tell you if he's any good or not. Says it all really.
GaelicFox Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 He hadn't played for Algeria before we signed for him I think was his point. Saying that he trusts our scouts Only coz he was waiting to see if france were interested in him , he was born in france , he chose Algeria , they had been begging him for 2 years to committ Just thank god leicester got him before the others jumped on him , plenty were watching , city acted , the chap they use in france has pearson's and boards trust un capped Scottish players is gambling , Shaun Maloney is gambling Why gamble ? We have cash , so buy quality for now and in summer to do some long term shopping

We have cash , so buy quality for now and in summer to do some long term shopping Surely most players are gambles? Especially when we spend cash. I mean, we haven't been good at it before (granted not under Pearson). It's difficult to name quality, people say we need this position and this position but then names are missing. Unless we continue to look abroad and snatch players like Mahrez. I also question what quality would want to join the team bottom of the top flight without wanting to come for the money (personally don't think we'll end up bottom but at this current moment). I've just said above, Andy Robertson who signed for Hull in the summer is virtually uncapped (played for Scotland 5 times) but I'd take him. He's come over from Dundee and looked decent in the Premier League. Just like many other SPL players have done before. People need to get away from the SPL thing.
Jamiebux Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 4 m , Dundee can keep him! If he's worth 4 what's Mahrez worth!! A lot more than 5
davieG Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 Media reports suggest Burnley are just one of many clubs taking a look at 22-year-old central midfielder, Stuart Armstrong. The player is also thought to be on the radars of Celtic, Hull City, West Bromwich Albion and most recently Leicester City according to 'The Sun` whilst Sky Sports also mention Southampton and Wigan. Armstrong was captain of the Scotland U21 team and has recently received a call up to the senior squad so is on the verge of becoming a full international. It is thought it could take around £4 million to secure his services.Armstrong has spent his entire senior career with Dundee United joining them as a youth in July 2009 having previously played at youth level for Dyce Boys Club and Inverness Caledonian Thistle. He has since made over 120 appearances for the SPL club scoring 16 goals.Read more: http://www.burnley.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=382762#ixzz3NqwOai3A
CosbehFox Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 The fact he's 22 and hasn't even made an appearance for Scotland yet says a lot. He's supposedly the best SPL has to offer current and that includes Celtic. Sporting Lisbon are said to be interested too
Mark_w Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 4 m , Dundee can keep him! If he's worth 4 what's Mahrez worth!! A lot more than 5 Right we got a bargain once so never sign anyone again, because we'll never top that business.
Soar Fox Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 Right we got a bargain once so never sign anyone again, because we'll never top that business. Didn't kingfox say if we get a £4 million pound bid for Mahrez sell him?

Mark_w Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 Didn't kingfox say if we get a £4 million pound bid for Mahrez sell him? Kingfox said we shouldn't sign black strikers because they never play well for us. I've since stopped paying attention to anything Kingfox says.
GaelicFox Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 Yes Fox92 I suppose they are all gamble, I have looked this lad up He actually is ok, but £4m seems crazy paper talk He looks worth a try for future, as you you said already
VLC86 Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 Didn't kingfox say if we get a £4 million pound bid for Mahrez sell him? He also said he isn't a virgin so I would take this with a pinch of salt.
