I thought Ghana already had decent cover at left-wing (or left-back for that matter). It's not like Jeff has been an integral part of the national squad for years.

This is the key part!!!

“He had scans here and was advised not to fly because of the swelling and then he went down to London to have an independent medical that was organized by the Ghanaian FA, and they came to the same conclusion as we did.

Just reading that West Ham could be in trouble for fielding Sakho in their FA Cup win http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/31103752

Of course our FA Cup winner at Spurs was scored by Schlupp, who should have been at AFCON. So are we implicated here too?

I am hoping the difference is that Sakho personally withdrew from the Senegal squad citing an injury, whereas Schlupp didn't withdraw from the Ghana squad, he simply wasn't selected by the Ghanaian FA after going through a medical assessment in London?

Answered your own question there, we've done absolutely nothing wrong. The third party deemed that he wasn't fit to travel at the time.
