MC Prussian Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 It's not a ten point gap but neither is it the case that were three points from safety. 18 more points is what we might end up needing. To get that wel need to go on a run of form that this team doesn't look remotely capable of doing. Or less than that. The good thing about this season is that the teams around us are equally as bad and wasteful as us, so we're back to "fine margins".
Trav Le Bleu Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 3 points at the moment. it could be 5 by the end of today. Will probably be eight by the time we've got Arsenal City and Chelsea out the way, so we will realistically need to win six of our last 11 to get 38 points. We could we see a record low points for 17th this season if one of the teams down there don't stick a run together, even then, we going to have to double our wins tally in those 11 games and pick up 3 draws, meaning we can only lose four of them. Assuming we pick nothing up in the next three games we are going to have to finish the season with top half form, it is not impossible but there is nothing to be chilled out about. Good points Pablo, but the highlighted point at the end, I agree for the manager, players and staff, but for fans... what's the point? Getting angry, depressed or flustered isn't going to change anything on the pitch. All we can do is support the team the best we can and hope that it helps in some small way. I'm disappointed, but I'm not getting my knickers in a twist.
Fox 4 Life Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 I won't relax until we put it a decent performance that shows we even deserve to be in this league. We have been absolutely woeful, Burnley are fighting for their lives and fully deserve to stay up. I wish I could say the same about us. They haven't changed their starting lineup in 12 games and have been playing well, pearson changes ours weekly how can the players get any kind of consistency going?!
bovril Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 We have won four times this season. How are we going to muster up 6 more wins from 14 games?!

It's scoring goals that is the issue
Callabinho Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 Survival is impossible, the next chance we have a picking up any points is V Hull in March, we've got far too much ground to make up, those three points may as well be ten, if we get a single point before Hull, I shall attend that game wearing nothing but a mankini...and that's a promise.

Everton away has us written all over it. If we can take a point from Everton and beat Hull, we're not so doomed with 9 games left on 21 points. Remember we're playing Sunderland, QPR, West Brom, Burnley - all winnable, and Swansea/Newcastle at home, both potential draws. If we lose our H2H battles vs Burnley / QPR and Hull, then yeah, we're down and out, but i'll stay confident till it's mathematically impossible. and I hope it'll at leats come down to the last say where we need to beat QPR, and Villa have to beat Bunrley, to put down Burnley, Hull and QPR instead of us. Truth is, although we look doomed and pretty much out of it, we're not adrift YET, and who knows, we could beat Arsenal... and Manchester City... perhaps..
roger the dodger Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 all last seasons good work down the pan. Pearson is not the man to take us Foward i think his ego is bigger than the club. if you are happy to see us relegated but enjoy i don.t enjoy seeing us at the bottom not winning against teams we should be picking up points against

I like your optimism, but the fact we haven't done it all season suggest we are no set to buck the trend, we're our own worst enemy at times. Tuesday could be our undoing, I can see us getting absolutely hammered.

Pearson? No way, in terms of his man management of players, he is exceptional, ego doesn't come into it at all, his problem is he and his staff lack PL experience as a group, they show a lack of tactical nous at this level as well as some naive decision making, give it a few years and Nigel will have a side in the top half of the premier league. World class managers aren't moulded in a day, they all progress at different rates, but as a manager Nigel has bounced back once before, after two play off defeats most other managers would have buckled aka Dave Jones, Billy Davies to name two. Nigel will get it right, because he has done it before, when we go down I want to remain with Nigel, because he wants to be here and he has brought us success already, persevere people, Rome wasn't built in a day.
