Guest Posted 16 February 2015 Posted 16 February 2015 James was brilliant. As so often the case he was the heartbeat. Feel sorry for him what is around him. Schwarzer, Simpson, Morgan, Schlupp, Cambiasso and Mahrez were absolute w**k.

Villa had us pinned back for nearly the whole of the second half, which was partly due to James and Cambiasso being unable to gain a hold of the ball and using it constructively. He was as guilty as anyone in the first half too throwing easy balls away. That said, he did at least offer some attacking threat which all but Kramaric failed to do.

Sobered up a little since I wrote that. Yes brilliant probably a stretch. Feel he was our best player though.
NewquayFox Posted 16 February 2015 Posted 16 February 2015 We have had games where a player or two have been poor but today seven or eight decided to be absolutely crap, Upson, James & Kramaric the only ones to come out with any credit, maybe Konchesky too. Pearson has lost the faith of a lot more fans after that debacle..,,
I blame Wellens Posted 16 February 2015 Posted 16 February 2015 Cambiasso 8 All the rest 1 You are truly the biggest attention seeking plum on this site.
Guest Col city fan Posted 16 February 2015 Posted 16 February 2015 You are truly the biggest attention seeking plum on this site. Not really. I'm just utterly fed up of the crazy over-inflating of some of our players, the harsh criticism of others and the general wallyness of Pearson. It's gone on all season and frankly, we've been a bloody disaster...Cambiasso included.

Not James' fault that the manager insists on playing two men in the middle every bloody game. Same old story every week- we get overrun in the middle, putting pressure on our defence and meaning we barely have any posession . Terrible season
Steve Earle Posted 16 February 2015 Posted 16 February 2015 Glad I didn't vote yesterday. All 4s & 5s for me except Simpson & Schlupp (2), Pearson & Konchesky (3), Kramaric (6 - up 1 for the finish) and James (7). I missed the 3-4 games when Schlupp had his golden spell around Christmas time. Consequently, I've never seen him have a good game:)
eastendfox Posted 16 February 2015 Posted 16 February 2015 Schwarzer 4 - To be fair we got to the 5th round through the Spurs goalie dropping one in for us, but no reason for him to do the same. Or to play at all to be honest. His continued preferment above Hamer is ridiculous. Simpson 4 - He's a better right back than RDL, but I'd take RDL at wing-back any day Konchesky 5 - He was ok, but similarly if you're playing wing backs why not Schlupp? Morgan 5 - Didn't think he was too bad to be honest Was 5 - Similarly ok Upson 5 - Too slow to play in a 4 at the back, but does attempt to pass Mahrez 4 - Clearly believes he's the best player in the team, but a couple of good minutes is not enough Cambiasso 4 - Every ageing meastro may have an off-day now and again, and it really didn't come off for him. Probably the worst he's player since he was 10 years old James 7 - Tried to keep 3 Villa midfielders at bay on his own while also attacking, and nearly managed it Schlupp 5 - Not dreadful, looked to make things happen, occasionally did Karamric 6 - A goalscorer, he's shown that. Unfortunately also the type of goalscorer whose sides are likely to get relegated as his all-round game isn't quite up to being a solo striker Sub Ulloa 5 - Tried to get involved, did hold the ball up a bit Ref 8 - far better than either of the sides, sad we wasted an unusually good ref performance Pearson 4 - Not unreasonable to try the Arsenal approach, but it was pretty obvious from early that it would need to be changed.
Guest MattP Posted 16 February 2015 Posted 16 February 2015 James a 7. The rest gets 5's apart from Upson who gets a 6. Simpson, Schulpp and Cambiasso can have a 2 or3.
Oxfordfox83 Posted 16 February 2015 Posted 16 February 2015 Schwarzer 3 - didn't do a lot wrong, but what he did cost us dear Simpson 3 - elementary mistakes for their first goal. Started well going forward but makes RDL look like Gary Neville. Morgan 2 - so out of his depth yesterday-really disappointing. Shambolic positioning for the second goal. Not his fault he wasn't subbed, but should have been. Wasilewski 5 - unspectacular, but seemed to have a good understanding with Upson. Bafflingly removed Upson 6 - a cool head: can't remember when we last had one of those at the back. Konchesky 5 - underrated, solid yesterday. Poorish crossing but few options and generally one of our better players. Mahrez 3 - where was he? Disappeared after 25 minutes and never seen again. James 7 - holding the ball, passing, shooting on target. Best player on the pitch yesterday. Cambiasso 2 - never hid, but that's all you can say. Dreadful passing, poor free kick; he broke so many good moves up. Schlupp 5 - don't understand the stick he's getting. Little enough joy but kept going and was involved in a couple of really good moves first half that EC blew. Kramaric 6 - sensational finish for the goal, shame it came too late. First half I'd have liked to see him stay high a bit more, but he looks the real deal. Ulloa 5 - offered options with ball played to feet. Difficult for him as Mahrez had gone home by the time he came on. Nigel 2 - Selection was odd-I have no issue starting 541 if it's working, but you have to be able to change if it's not. We went behind, had 4 passengers and after a genuinely promising first half they stepped up and we didn't. Wouldn't have minded losing if we'd gone down fighting but we didn't. I voted go-still not sure I mean it but he looked uninspired today.
LCCFox96 Posted 16 February 2015 Posted 16 February 2015 Gave Kramaric a 7. He earns a 6 for his work rate, movement, and attempts to create a meaningful attack. He gets boosted to a 7 for the quality of the finish on that header. James got a 6 for a very decent performance. The rest of the team though: a spattering of 3's, 4's and 5's. Very, very poor yesterday and we cannot afford anymore performances of that standard!
cc_star Posted 16 February 2015 Posted 16 February 2015 Schwarzer - 2 - Good save from Benteke saving him from a 0, but 3 decisive goals in 4 games tells its own story Simpson - 1 - Mr Limited is limited *shocker* Was - 6 - Not sure why he was subbed, usual solid self Wes - 3 - Found wanting Upson - 7 - Good interceptions, blocks & can actually pass ok for a lcfc CB Konch - 3 - Usual Mr steady going backward, usual Mr Woeful getting forward (key in a back 5) Mahrez - 1 - Just dire, should have been hauled off at HT Cambiasso - 1 - Just dire in every regard, headless chicken but with no legs and couldn't find a blue shirt if we were the only team on the pitch James - 6 - Had to do everything given his partner in the middle, felt sorry for him Schlupp - 5 - Felt he was very good 1st half, but practically AWOL 2nd Kram - 7 - Felt sorry for having to play with Cambiasso etc behind him, came looking for ball & scored a corker. *feed the Kram* NP - 0 - No problem with the formation, but should have played with more attack minded RDL & Schlupp at fullbacks, where defensive susceptibility wouldn't have mattered so much with 3 CBs. Does albrighton dump in tea each morning? Clown Schwarzer continuing to gift opposition decisive goals... and not changing formation making subs when it was obvious to EVERYONE it wasn't working? Yesterday, for the first time I felt he just wasn't up to it.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 16 February 2015 Posted 16 February 2015 Good to see a collective positive outlook on Upson. So refreshing to have a defender who doesn't think the ball is a bomb. Think he and Huth could be very, very important for us if they can both keep fit.
