A view from a new poster

Recommended Posts

Alright guys, I have read FoxesTalk for years but never posted but some reason I thought I would today, I'm not going to introduce myself again, if want a read look on new members part. nobody probably cares about my view especially as a new poster but here goes...

Realistically it looks like we will go down, we have played well in games, and patches in other games but if you have 18points after 26games it isn't looking good, there's only so long you can point to bad luck until you just have to say aren't good enough. Before you jump on me for being negative, we still have a chance of staying up of course we do, the gap is only 4points but our record so far isn't great. posters say 'yeh bit we've got this team to play and that team to play' which is true, but at the moment that means jack because so far we haven't even scored against, let alone beat, Sunderland, West Brom and Palace. Not great is it? BUT! we still can get enough points to stay up, why can't we? I'm sure I heard us called the 'best bottom team in Premier League history' during the Everton game which is fantastic, but that wont make me feel any better if we go down. There are still plenty of games we can win, but at this stage of the season we need WINS, a spirited point at Everton, or a good performance a Arsenal mean nothing when you cant beat Palace at home, NOTHING.

Everytime I watch us, we generally do ok but the players make the dumbest decisions, both up top and at the back. The Everton is symptomatic of a team who will get relegated. Before the game we would've all taken a point, but with the way game went we should've got 3, that second was so soft and who couldn't see that second goal coming from how we have been this season? Before people accuse me of being too negative I'm going make a point that the future for Leicester City is BRIGHT, regardless of what happens this season. We are debt-free, we own our stadium and supposedly we were in line with FFP in our promotion year (we shall see when the accounts are released). We have always had very healthy crowds and we will next year IF we get relegated, this isn't 2003 again, things have changed a lot for us. It could be a lot worse, we could be the CovScum.

I don't think I've ever seen such divided opinion on a manager. Pearson did a great job last season, I'm sure someone will correct me but are we only the third team to get 100+points in the second tier (after Reading and Sunderland)?. This season though he has struggled, he really has. Is it inexperience or is he just not good enough? Look at Allardyce, people forget he got Bolton promoted, then relegated but came up 2/3 years later then they became an established topflight team. Same with Curbishley at Charlton, came up, went down, they came back immediately and again became an established top flight team. Now I'm not saying Pearson would do the same but does he deserve the chance to try again? I'm neither anti or pro Pearson, I'm genuinely 50-50 but who is better equipped to get us back up if we do relegated? If we do stay up and are struggling come October then we can make a change. If we were going to make a change it should've been 2/3 months ago, the only viable alternative would've been Pulis. I've read posters who think we should go for Lennon, Howe, etc etc. Why would these be any better than Pearson IF we do get relegated?

right that's enough, i'll get me tin hat on

cheers

Nice one.. generally agree with most things especially the divine intervention that is now required. I also agree that the only way we would have survived is to have sacked Nigel and given Pulis a go.

A very fair post.

We missed the boat with Pulis, but Pearson should stay, until the season is over.

Why not let him start the 2015/16 season out of interest? I mean he either keeps us up and then surely deserves the chance, if not there's not really anyone who will come who stands a better chance of taking us back up. I don't see how making a change at the end of the season is supposed to help us in any way?

Reason for not keeping him. He hasn't learmt from his mistakes this season. Has struggled to maintain a stable starting line up.

Reasons for keeping him. To avoid a big pay off.

Fair enough, replace him with who? Who will either keep us up, or do better in the Championship?

Just think that football is so entrenched in short termism now. It's been a detriment to the game for a long time. People tend to forget where we've been and how shit we've been for the last decade. I trust our owners, if they sack Nigel so be it, I'm not a 'Pearsonite' (how moronic, ughh) but who's to say in the next 2 or 3 years we'd be much, or any, better off with a different manager and completely new squad? I've sort of lost my point in amongst all this. Something about better the devil you know, knowing the darkness that could return.

Edit: several responses were deleted before I posted that

I was wondering wtf you were on about lol Then I read the last line

Rebuild needed - keep about 4 and start again - new manager needed for this - retire the pensioners (60% of the team) and get some youth in - 5 year plan

Agree with this.

Some people are just living a lie if they think we can come back with how things are now. We need to cut loose quite a few. Those who dont want to go, offer a take it or leave it payoff.

I'm sure some of them will say set me free and I want to find out who they are sooner rather than later.

Nobody will keep us up now. I think we all know that

Who better in the champ? Well I don't believe he can turn a team from winning 1 in 6 to winning 1 in 2 over the summer. It took him a few goes to get the consistent winning mentality in there and will take a lot to bring it back no matter how "good" our performances have been. Because he got us up once doesn't mean he is a championship promotion specialist now

We need a new leader and to clear out some of the players he has so much misguided faith in (Morgan, Konch)

Who would I go for? Depends if the owners demand automatic return or willing to invest in rebuilding as they have before.

For immediate I'd go for Allardyce if we can attract him. For a long term rebuild I'm not so sure. There are a lot like pearson who seem to struggle as they make a step up so its a big decision. Lennon may be an option with his experience at Celtic (league and champions league) he may not be doing that well now at Bolton but they were in awful shape and clearly he has resource constraints (bringing in tow very old strikers)

That's just my view

Now Harry is ready for a return......Harry will be the new manager oct-2015

naaaaa, only joking!!!!!

Look.... if Nigel is forced out, I havent yet seen any suggestions that come up with any real logical after thought.Too many suggest, run of the mill non exciting also struggled ex-managers.Pulis would not have been my choice, too many historonics, and baggage.

On the circuit, but not free would be Neil Lennon has an obvious 'good story'. Sherwood would of been a good shout.

I cant see our management going for avg, till now previously failed managers/coaches has any natural replacement.

Maybe pulling some rabbit out of the hat, even someone from foreign fields.

There is another train of thought to consider....Pearson himself..why ???.

Hes been hurt, hes taken the hits, more importantly hes served an hard apprenticeship, and gained more insight.

Stop this crap over his arrogance, any coach worth his salt has to have arrogance and self belief.

Like Babylon has mentioned, in an excellent post, we the fans have posted between us, all sides of the possibilties, and the following contradictions, on who should play, tactics and sytems, so we aint been better on or in the ideas department

His biggest mistake, was trusting his players from last season, would not be so bad has they have turned out to be.

Drinkwater, James or Morgan would play substandard, and on the ball basic control so abysmal, by all chosen including Mahrez, Vardy and Nugent, when needed to score 1from-3, or to help relieve the defence from pressure.

IMO Mahrez and Wasi have been the only players shown any potential expected...2 from 16 players, and even these 2 have had slips at the wrong time.Schlupp, Moore, Lawrence, young and inconsistent, but maybe still with a future

Ulloa, Cambiasso, Albrighton, Kramy, have had their moments, but with the City BBone failing, little chance to turn things around themselves.

Perhaps staying with Pearson could turn out to be a shrewd move.

These players this season were not destined or skillfull enough, no matter, who, what and how Pearson had set them up.

Why wouldn't it be possible to come back with how things are? The older players are pretty much all out of contract int he summer, the younger players already proven in the lower division are under contract barring Knockaert.

The team could quite easily be:

Hamer

Simpson  Wes  Moore  De Laet

Albrighton  Drinkwater  James   Schlupp

Vardy Nugent

Bench: Schwarzer, King, Ulloa, Lawrence

That's presuming all the out of contacts go along with Kasper, Mahrez, Kram.

Only four subs? Very confident!

I'd be amazed if Albrighton, James and Ulloa are still here.

If we go down, a huge rebuild on the squad will be required.

But they might be here, all under long contracts, not pulled up that many trees.

There is a good chance no big rebuild is needed.

How many new managers would you like to rebuild the rebuild within that 5 years?

Welcome apollo4joe too.

I can see why the Pearson out people are so negative, I've been thinking we'd keep the majority of our squad. Didn't realise we were losing 90% of the playing staff.

Sam Allardyce may well be availabl, and who knows what others.. Allardyce knows what is required of players in the Premiership, and could build a squad to take us up and KEEP us up, where Pearson has failed.

Keep Pearson, and it is the mixture as before, and a repeat of what has happened this season. That would be a nightmare scenario.
