Fan attitudes in the crowd

I agree 100%

There's been too much talk all season. I'd rather we simply win football matches.

Let's have something to cheer about eh?

Hopefully starting tomorrow col

Unfortunately we aren't just fans, we are paying customers so we can all say what we want. Personally I'm pro pearson and I don't ever about abuse at the players despite how poor they can be at times. It is what it is, support the club how you want. Though if you're being negative you are wrong, we just can't stop you.

Unfortunately chanting Pearson out during a game is the only way we can communicate with the board

How about not dragging the players and everybody else down with negative crap during a game and doing it after the final whistle instead?

Too much stress on this thread... There's some free clappers today, so that's sort everything out.

Don't forget your half and half scarves. Chill out and have a sandwich...that was management gold too. Bet some of you lot loved that as well.

It doesn't happen though does it, everyone is behind the team, if it goes wrong during the game, like it might then the tipping point may arrive and Pearson gets the abuse he deserves. He's been very lucky as others have said, because the crowd as a mass haven't turned on him verbally at the games yet, but unless things change it will. Lets hope he comes to his senses and realises that you only win games by trying to score as opposed to holding a 0-0, and hoping for a lucky break.

don't see why anyone would turn on him, we've played reasonably well this season considering we're rooted to the bottom, he's made mistakes but so does everyone. I think it's the grim realisation that we just didn't spend enough money, that's not much of a criticism. yes we should be doing better, but in reality only by a place or two.

Nearly 20 million quid on just two strikers (who never seem to play together) is not an insignificant sum of money. I doubt Cambiasso is here for peanuts either is he?

Again, you simply gloss over what has been a series of mistakes with the catch all of 'so does everyone'.

Personally, I think we could have done a lot better than we have done. I agree, we still might just be a few places above bottom, but we should have gained more points than this!

It's the ongoing debate either pro or anti Pearson and as usual, the pro's will make excuses, the anti's will look at all the negatives.

With some exceptions...eg. TTFN's excellent thread.

I think the fans have been extremely patient this season, I think they have supported the team and management, giving them time, letting them make mistakes, but there is only so much you can let them off with, now it's coming to the crunch and everyone is just abit pissed off I think that's fair to say.

We all knew it was gonna be hard this season and we'd be in a relegation scrap, that would be acceptable but the fact we've been bottom for so long, going down with a wimper I think the fans have been outstanding the amount of time we've let things go this season. I know in previous season after about 10 or 15 games fans would have been on the players/management backs, to have got to this stage in the season and it's only just starting, i've gotta say i'm surprised.

I've said all season, I believe that many many fans felt that Pearson 'earnt' a crack at the Premiership. We had not been promoted for such a long time. Some of our younger fans had never known us to play in the top flight.

This patience then, I think is founded upon many almost seeing Pearson as untouchable. For some, he's been reified. This attitude about 'no-one could do a better job', I think, is based upon this adoration of the man. The challenges of playing in the Premiership have almost been ignored, on the back of 'Pearson did so well last season, he MUST be ok this season. He will turn it around..he's learning, we are progressing' etc etc.

Therefore, mistakes, both on and off the pitch will be excused. Reasons will be given for why Pearson has done what he's done and, certainly in the early days of this season, any dissent of Pearson will be stamped upon. I think it's almost been a case of 'how dare you criticise the man who took us up'!

The problem is that the Premiership and the Championship are two different animals completely. I've never got the argument that the level of ability between the two is not much different. For me, it's vast. What Nigel Pearson hasn't done this season, is to bridge that gap. In terms of signings, tactics etc, so far, he's failed. We are bottom, the table doesn't lie. That's fact. To date in the Premiership, Nigel Pearson has failed.

It will be interesting to see, next season, if we do get relegated. My feeling is even the most ardent fans of Nige will turn on him if he stays and we start badly. I know that's all ifs and buts, but I do think Pearson will be gone after only a few games next season, given that scenario.

So, I agree that the fans this season have been incredibly patient and I've attempted to explain why I think that is.

Well I'm sure the players would rather win games also, I'm also sure they would rather not do the interviews and have to answer the questions.

I really don't know why people read so much into these things.

Very good summary. except I can't see the Thais who've been unbelievably patient with him, giving him another opportunity to fail.
