This.

Like a lot of things in life I think the chase is better than the catch.

The PL has been like a crap shag with half scarf wankers thrown into the bargain.

I don't want to go down but I won't be crying about it like I did 10-15 years ago.

Nah...

You simply change 'the chase'.

The chase this season could have been creating a much better team..one with better players in it, playing better football, beating other quality teams.

The chase could have been mid-table security.

Then next season, striving to get higher, maybe into Europe.

You simply revise 'the chase'.

Pearson looks like taking us straight back down to square one...all over again. That's not improvement. That's regression. And it's certainly not ' chasing' anything.

People are too one dimensional to see "the chase" as anything other than winning something or promotion.

99% of clubs have no "chase" on that basis.

Yet go and ask fans of Southampton, Spurs to name 2, theyre loving life right now.

Their "chase" has some intermediate goals. Its not defined by over exaggerated targets we were never going to meet anyway.

Fair enough, you're probably right that I'd be enjoying it if we were doing far better.

I am finding it weird though, I can't understand why myself but I don't seem to be that bothered - I was gutted the last time we were relegated, I can't get why this time I'm not.

Actually, same here mate.

I'm not as bothered about football in general though. Other things to worry about.

If I was 21, having had the season we've had, I'd be seething..

Can't see how 'looking forward' to the Championship can be in any way a positive.....There is absolutely zero guarantee that we'll bounce straight back.....We believed that in 2004 because of what happened under Mickey Adams two seasons earlier.....and ended up suffering ten mainly turgid years!

Would imagine that, despite their commitment and enthusiasm so far, that the owners won't want to stick around much longer if we DO go down and don't get promoted in 2016....

Relegation could prove absolutely catastrophic for the club....We all ought to be hoping and praying for another 16 or so points!

This.

I think that's probably nail on head.

Am I alone in looking forward to next season in the Championship. I am not being negative in my belief that we will be relegated, I am being realistic. In my opinion our fate was sealed a couple of weeks ago when we could only manage a goalless draw against Hull at home. I have been watching LCFC since 1970 and have seen it all before. We obviously want our team to do as well as possible and play the best teams, but I can honestly say that I have not enjoyed this season seeing us being beaten time and time again. Conversely I loved last season going to away matches at the likes of Watford, Barnsley and Huddersfield.

As to the Pearson "Should he stay or should he go" topic, I am sitting right in the middle of the fence. I am not saying he has not made mistakes this season, but could our current predicament be due largely in part to the fact that our squad is still very young with little or no PL experience.

So assuming we keep a majority of our squad together, I am looking forward to Huddersfield away next season.

Am I alone.

You are clearly not alone but it saddens me to think that my fellow City fans will accept and settle for second best.  :(

Would you care to explain what else we should do?

The fact people have accepted it don't mean they are happy about it and some of us are to old to cry about it.

I have still not given up hope however that don't mean I do not realise we have more chance of being a Championship club next season.

it's going to cost me an extra $20 a month to add the channel back in on my satellite plan that shows Championship games over here.

Clearly people who are looking forward to the championship are the ones that are trying to soften the blow of relegation mentally. There is nothing more advantageous about being in the Championship except for cheaper ticket prices in my opinion. The argument about winning so many games is silly. Yes we will win more games in the championship and therefore we have more 'success', if people think success comes from winning those games against Brentford and Huddersfield.

But the reward for doing well in the Championship is to be in the Premier League. Surely those wanting championship football are taking a step back on the metaphorical ladder. It's like playing for the senior team and struggling, or to then go play with the U18's and do well. If that gives you more satisfaction then clearly you are lacking in ambition. Maybe the PL is overrated and maybe we will never win it, but its the pinnacle of English football and we need to be here. Imagine if we could in the next five or so years, do what Southampton did and go and put together a Europa league campaign. Football is nothing without hope. If we all thought that we are going to struggle every season in the PL, it would be boring to follow us. You have to have that hope that we could do a Southampton or a Stoke and become a real force in the league. That should be the motivation, no matter how unlikely

One thing about this season that utterly baffles me is this apparent conceding, amongst many, to relegation.

Even a few weeks ago, it was almost like it was inevitable..a given.

There have been threads started to examine which players might stay in the Championship. Not 'if' it happened but when..

People seem to have given up so easily, or with a bit of a laff about it.

Some have even said it's 'better' being in the Championship. Still others have kinda said it's ok..because under Nigel Pearson we'll bounce straight back anyway.

It took us ten long years, sometimes painful years to get back in the top flight. Many managers have come and left. Numerous chairmen, tons of players etc etc.

Yet, for some, Nigel Pearson remains the right man. Our failings this season (really the only one that now matters) have been almost glossed over and there is an acceptance after ONE shot at it, that it kinda doesn't really matter.

I think it does matter. If we finally do get relegated ill look back on this season as actually something of a joke to be honest.

A case of what coulda, shoulda been?

For me, it will stick in the old grey matter until the old grey matter has died away.

It does matter and it surprises me that some people take it so lightly really.

Probably just a defence mechanism..its better maybe to suppress it than to get wound up by it. But given the choice between kicking on in the Prem..having another shot at it or looking forward to playing Preston away next season gives me the shudders.

But that's just me.

I'm 17 and I'm not that bothered about going down, probably because I'm so accustomed to us losing now

Well said. I don't see how ANYBODY can give up until it's mathematically impossible - you just never know in this crazy game.

If the players adopted the attitude that we're already down we'd all be going mental. I know it's highly unlikely we'll survive but I won't chuck the towel in until I have to. It's taken so long to get back here that to write it off with 8 games still left seems a shame. I for one will keep the faith and back the team til the death. We've had fook all luck all season so about due some. Stranger things have happened...

I was more disappointed with the Sousa, Sven and failed Pearson seasons but relegation has been coming so long I've just accepted it which is pretty bad really.

No, I am not looking forward to dropping into a lower league, as I want the very best for my club.

It's a sad day when certain people are looking forward to it.

I totally agree I cant understand the thought process of some people, why don't we get relegated to Div 1 again, that was good fun... stupid comments by people who have no ambition and have been happy with the rubbish we have played this year under a arrogant deluded manager....
