Corky Posted 23 March 2015 Posted 23 March 2015 It's a pretty depressing place all round, tickets aren't that much cheaper, plenty of crap atmospheres, crowds will be 8k lower, away crowds roughly 1k on average. Even last season during a fantastic season the atmosphere was flat.
Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 23 March 2015 Posted 23 March 2015 Im absolutely dreading it. Just the thought of the Championship makes me so sad. Its such an arduous, drawn out process. Its just the thought of all the extra games, the dog eat dog randomness of the league married with the total lack of quality, it just fills me with dread. Or being off the pace at christmas and having so many games with nothing riding on them to endure. Please someone spare me the "proper fans proper football" rhetoric, it doesnt wash im sorry. We have wasted a golden opportunity to establish ourselves in the Premier League. It will take a long time to get over that next season. I just want our club to be successful, and it hurts like hell seeing us down there. Pretty much sums it up perfectly.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 23 March 2015 Posted 23 March 2015 I hope everyone realises that the best thing to have done to this thread was for no one to reply to it. That would have really freaked him out. Too late now though.
6ups 6downs 2 cups Posted 23 March 2015 Posted 23 March 2015 The only thing I am 'looking forward' to is some extra home games, then again I realise those extra games might be Tuesday nights in Jan and Feb against Preston, Blackburn and Rotherham!
Dan Posted 23 March 2015 Posted 23 March 2015 The 2013/14 Championship I think we'd all take. Winning almost every game, being the best team in the league by miles, breezing past oppositions and even when we don't it falls for us (Yeovil etc.) a cup run and the reward of promotion. But have you forgotton about 2004/05, 05/06, 06/07, 07/08, the end to 09/10, 10/11 11/12 and the horrendous run of 12/13? The league next season will be rammed with decent teams. Of the three teams that have been relegated from the PL since the 07/08 season here's the number who have made an instant return... (relegated in) 07/08- 1 (2nd Place) 08/09- 2 (1st & 2nd Place) 09/10- 0 10/11- 1 (via Playoffs) 11/12- 0 12/13- 1 (via Playoffs) 13/14- (only a potential of 1 with Cardiff and Fulham going nowhere) It'll be hard, it'll be a slog and I guarantee within three months of the season starting you'll remember how crap and arduous it actually is. It's great and glamorous when you're winning every week, of course it it. On the flip side if we are able to be as competitive as we were last season then with the way everyone beats everyone we might well make an instant return. We hear that one every year. Realistically it's full of dross.
Leicesterpool Posted 23 March 2015 Posted 23 March 2015 The championship is an excellent league, its very exciting and sometimes unpredictable. I mean a team could be near the bottom by the end of october, but come May they could be sitting in the play offs. Some of the away trips are all right, I mean I like forward to the trips like the local derby with Forest, a new ground in Brentford, Fulham, Brighton always enjoy the seaside trips, Bristol City... One of the sad things about leaving the premier league is visited some of the top grounds in the country. I mean clubs like Liverpool, Chelsea and Man Utd even some of their own fans have probably never visited there ground. Infact we've probably been more times than them!

Which begs the question, why aren't sky putting more money into the championship and raising it's profile, after all 3 teams will have sky money pumped into them every year. Why give the premiership 5 billion a year when all that will happen is the players will be on more money, Wayne Rooney won't suddenly become a better player just because he's on another 100 grand a week. The money won't attract better players as was originally planned because it's already peeked in that respect. its just throwing money down the drain and increasing the gap the already mega rich clubs have.

Its the unredictability and randomness that makes it a close league with lots of to-ing and fro-ing throughout the season. But thats not created by having an excellent league of great players who are all technically good , its created by lumping 24 gash teams into a league and watching the mess that they create. In the Premier League thread, people were mentioning how bad the bottom teams are that they can lose a lot of games, or in the case of Aston Villa score so few goals and not go down. The same must be then said of Bournemouth who can lose 4 games in a row at one point and still be in the top 2, or teams who put a little run together who go from obscurity to the playoffs. It might be exciting in one regard as a neutral looking on, but its poor. You could probably replay this season in the championship and all 24 teams would all finish in different positions next time around.
Strokes Posted 23 March 2015 Posted 23 March 2015 Some of my best memories of watching Leicester have been in the second tier, its where the dreams are started folks. The prem is where they are shattered.

DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 23 March 2015 Posted 23 March 2015 No, I am not looking forward to dropping into a lower league, as I want the very best for my club. It's a sad day when certain people are looking forward to it.
Strokes Posted 23 March 2015 Posted 23 March 2015 Yikes.....youre younger than me then.I'm talking about.....Tony James scoring against oxford in the last game of the season. Thrashing Cambridge 5-0 in the play off semis. Joachim running half the length of the pitch to score against Pompey, at the city ground. Iwan Roberts hat trick against derby in the epic 3-3 at filbo. Beating derby at Wembley. Izzets diving header at vicarage road. Claridges shin. Finishing second, despite spending half the season in administration and players playing for free. A record breaking season finishing on 102 points, despite restrictions implemented after ffp. That's just off the top of my head, happy memories, despite being in the league below.
Dan Posted 23 March 2015 Posted 23 March 2015 I just can't see how anything can be worse than this. It's embarrassing, it's deflating and the level of frustration is something I've never witnessed in football. Constantly so close yet so far. This league is where we should aim to be but I'm not going to pretend for that reason that this season has been anything other than a ****ing nightmare for the majority.

Ah, i kind of mistakenly, and somewhat stupidly, thought you might be a post O'Neill fan. Had I been around to have seen some of those memories, i may have had a different opinion.

Don't get me wrong it can be a horrible league, full of mediocrity and disappointment but I have some fantastic memories and its not all despair if we have to go through it again. I always tend to gloss over bad memories and almost banish them, so it's probably me just being overly positive. We have historically spent our existence between the two divisions, and are due a decent stint in the prem.

Aways are better for start.
Leicesterpool Posted 23 March 2015 Posted 23 March 2015 If there was just a league between the championship and the premier league, that's where it would perfect for leicester. The trouble with Leicester is there too big for the championship, but seem struggle in the top flight. Even though with a our wealthy owners, we still haven't been able to stay up.
Bayfox Posted 23 March 2015 Posted 23 March 2015 Depends on why you go to the city. I love the city. Not sure why at times, but it is something that is bred in you. By that I mean I started going to the football for the love of the game as a kid. Once I had been once I was hooked, Leicester was my team and that passion and feeling for the club has never left me, whatever division we are in I will support my club up and down the country. However being honest last season, was the 1st in a long time that the football was the real attraction. For me now, it's about the day out, the company, banter etc. This year has been enjoyable to a point. It's been a long time since we visited old Trafford etc and so far we are yet to disgrace ourselves away from home. But for all this challenging ourselves against the best. This season has been a disaster. I preferred the winning, positive football of last year. I guess overall, I enjoy the days out where ever they maybe, but I want us to be competitive in what ever division that maybe. If we can do that in the top flight fine. But this time around that aim hasn't been met. So for now it looks like over priced tickets at Leeds instead of Liverpool. Here is hoping it doesn't take 10 years to get back and when we do. We make a better ****ing fist of it next time.
jim5000 Posted 23 March 2015 Posted 23 March 2015 Being a Foxile, I'll miss the fact you can stream every game. I don't think I've 'missed' a game this season. Its going to suck having to watch the football league show again.
UpTheLeagueFox Posted 24 March 2015 Posted 24 March 2015 From a personal perspective, I'd rather they were doing well in the Prem. From a professional perspective, I get to watch them more in the Championship.
AyewJoking Posted 24 March 2015 Posted 24 March 2015 Sorry but id take safe, boring mid table finishes in the Premier League over yoyo-ing between the top two leagues.

Like a lot of things in life I think the chase is better than the catch. The PL has been like a crap shag with half scarf wankers thrown into the bargain. I don't want to go down but I won't be crying about it like I did 10-15 years ago.
