ballso Posted 4 March 2013 Posted 4 March 2013 possibly my favourite band ever. ian curtis is one of my heroes and peter hook's bass playing got me into playing bass myself. favourite tune would be disorder i think. they were actually probably the first band i really got into in a big way when i was probably 15 or so. got into joy division before i got into the beatles. weird really, as i suppose the beatles music is a lot more accessible, but i've always quite liked dark music (early cure is some of my favourite stuff too).
Uncle Phil Posted 4 March 2013 Posted 4 March 2013 Yeah, good call. Haven't listened to any in too long.
foxfanazer Posted 5 March 2013 Posted 5 March 2013 Don't know many of their songs but what I've heard I like. Love will tear us apart is a great song
SystonFox Posted 5 March 2013 Posted 5 March 2013 yeah love them. dads a big big fan. he once met Ian Curtis and has a signed poster of his.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 5 March 2013 Posted 5 March 2013 Great band. Why don't they release some new stuff?
MrsJohnMurphy Posted 5 March 2013 Posted 5 March 2013 If someone pushed me for my favourite song ever I think this would be it.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRpY_wcNcMQ
David Guiza Posted 8 March 2013 Posted 8 March 2013 Only just seen this thread, but absolutely love them. Anybody who hasn't seen the film Control really should do, Sam Riley as Ian Curtis was exceptional.
wight88 Posted 26 May 2013 Posted 26 May 2013 Joy division and early New Order spawned a lot of imitators, the only convincing effort of them all was the former oi punk band Blitz who completely changed direction with their album Second Empire Justice- still criminally unknown. For what it's worth I still think Exercise One was JD at their absolute eleven out of ten peak.
Fox92 Posted 3 January 2014 Posted 3 January 2014 Started listening to Joy Division again, really into them at the minute. 'Disorder' is probably my favourite (although already posted above). Think Ian Curtis' lyrics are good, very deep and a sort of insight into his life, (bit like Morrissey's lyrics). Did anybody see his Kitchen Table was resold again, around November time?
