sylofox Posted 27 March 2015 Share Posted 27 March 2015 you can get involved do what you like stil 90% will stay in the prem. "The weak grow weak as the strong grow stronger" (a line from what song? but so true) FFP and sky money will make the prem a closed shop of 17 with 3 tourist clubs every season. Soup Posted 27 March 2015 Share Posted 27 March 2015 Yay free coach travel. This is typical of the modern football club. They want the majority of fans dropped off outside to spend any money they have inside the stadium.I get it but it proves they don't give a shit about the local area.Pubs, restaurants, shops and hotels can do one they think. Footballwipe Posted 27 March 2015 Share Posted 27 March 2015 So nothing explicit about lowering ticket prices? I guess they get to say £1bn of the money is going elsewhere so they can claim they can't afford to lower ticket prices.

It's not just that, the club would prefer full stadiums full of the kind of folks who go on official coaches rather than trains.

Voll Blau Posted 27 March 2015 Share Posted 27 March 2015 As long as it's not spent on kitting out catering staff in the away end with the visiting team's shirts it's a step in the right direction. What's really needed is supporter liaison officers with more influence at board level so they can tell the club exactly what the fans want/need when they do get concessions like this, rather than the club guessing/wanting to keep its influence on spending "in house" as much as possible. Good work to everyone who went and it's encouraging to see the FSF getting some results, its a great organisation that I wish more people who care about the game would get actively involved with. Finn Claw II Posted 27 March 2015 Share Posted 27 March 2015 I don't want to be that guy but it is a 70% increase in total revenue and 40% increase in money redistributed. Yes it is a big sum but the Prem \ Champ divide is just getting bigger. Noisey packed stadiums make the televised matches a better product, ticket prices should be lowered in the prem just for that alone.
Webbo Posted 27 March 2015 Share Posted 27 March 2015 All this extra money will still be spent on the same things, players wages and agents fees. Nothing will change.

Careful what you wish for, judging from some of the stuff that's been reported from our fans consultative meetings. There's a vast difference of opinion in what fans want. SantiagoFox Posted 27 March 2015 Share Posted 27 March 2015 It's not just that, the club would prefer full stadiums full of the kind of folks who go on official coaches rather than trains.Unfortunately you are correct. Thanks for the folks for going to London to protest. But what we really want is a cap on away ticket prices. Then everyone can get there how they like. Simples. Leave it to the clubs and they'll do the cheapo straight-there straight-back bus travel. Not my cup of tea. Although Chelsea were talking of subsidising a train when they play us!
Foxes_Trust Posted 28 March 2015 Author Share Posted 28 March 2015 In the letter presented to the Premier League meeting which was co-signed by fan groups (including us) from every Premier League club, we asked for an increase in the Away Fans Initiative, more engagement on how that money is spent, all away fans to automatically qualify for Category C pricing, and an end to reduced away allocations and "inferior accommodation". The aim is to have all away tickets at a price of £20, not to subsidise travel.
davieG Posted 28 March 2015 Share Posted 28 March 2015 I understand the need to make it easier for away fans but there seems to be little or no pressure being put on reducing the matchday prices which are horrendous and other additional charges like the extra fee for booking on line, paying more on the day both of these for example could easily be stopped
Foxes_Trust Posted 28 March 2015 Author Share Posted 28 March 2015 I understand the need to make it easier for away fans but there seems to be little or no pressure being put on reducing the matchday prices which are horrendous and other additional charges like the extra fee for booking on line, paying more on the day both of these for example could easily be stopped There is a reason for the focus being on away ticket prices (first). The Premier League accepts it has a collective responsibility to ensure the atmosphere is maintained at all grounds by having a good level of away support attending, so is keen to encourage clubs (and make the type of decision just taken) However the Premier League feels each club should set its own pricing level inside grounds (home fans), therefore any campaigning for home pricing has to be at individual club level. The FSF/Premier League Trusts do have a plan for the next stage, but needs to see the reduced away pricing in place first. The Trusts are also sharing "best practice", so many other Trusts are using our clubs - no fees (set up or % uplift) for Direct Debits as an example of what should be offered by their clubs.
