Edmund Posted 27 December 2008 Posted 27 December 2008 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/...l.html?ITO=1490 No suprises the walkers is not in that list. Im sure Filbert Street might have got into it.
Darkzzz_ Posted 27 December 2008 Posted 27 December 2008 I would say the San Siro on derby day is the best. What a buzz.
Lillehamring Posted 27 December 2008 Posted 27 December 2008 well, i've been to goodison, anfield and wembley - wembley was good when we won, but i'm sure some of those dour england friendlies were awful, and so far from the pitch spoils it a bit--- anfield was alright where we were until heskey scored (for them) but liverpool were very quiet until they were winning. and i've only ever been in glywds (sp) street a few times and it was pretty good, but no better than filbert street- i didn't bother to check 10-50, but i hope ulleval made it cause that's the best atmosphere i've known, and i imagine brann is even better, tho i haven't been there yet... and i would have though some of those turkish games are better there or thereabouts...
Edmund Posted 27 December 2008 Author Posted 27 December 2008 Im sure theres some atmospheres in the lower leagues which have better atmospheres than the ones listed. What surprises me is how ignorant they are, considering the atmosphere in most turkish/german stadiums are second to none in terms of vocal support.
davieG Posted 27 December 2008 Posted 27 December 2008 Depends on their definition of atmospheric, a church can be atmospheric but isn't usually noisy, it can be just about emotion. I suspect on their day with the right ingredients most grounds will be atmospheric.
lildave3 Posted 27 December 2008 Posted 27 December 2008 Well that was possibly the biggest load of bollocks i've ever read.
SussexFox Posted 27 December 2008 Posted 27 December 2008 Turf Moor above the Den??? St James Park No.4??? seems a bit daft I agree for the big games though Anfield would be my top one
Fosse Boy Posted 27 December 2008 Posted 27 December 2008 I'm guessing the reporter is a Portsmouth fan. Could well be the case. I doubt any English top flight ground would get in the top ten in reality nowadays.
purpleronnie Posted 27 December 2008 Posted 27 December 2008 What a complaete load of rubbish, bet you any money they havent been to those stadiums and have missed 100's of others.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 27 December 2008 Posted 27 December 2008 How no German or South American team is in the top 10 baffles me. "Er, yeah, I' much rather go to Fratton Fucking Park than the Bombanera."
lildave3 Posted 27 December 2008 Posted 27 December 2008 How no German or South American team is in the top 10 baffles me."Er, yeah, I' much rather go to Fratton Fucking Park than the Bombanera." Fenerbahce are nicely lodged in between Hull and Raith Rovers.
Finnegan Posted 27 December 2008 Posted 27 December 2008 Was almost worried the Millenium Stadium wouldn't get on there then! It's so rare the place is ever full enough to warrant the word "atmoshere" but when it is, by God. The shape of the stadium's perfect for sound and when the anthems start pouring out I melt every time. You can stick your Nazi saluting, flare waving, camp choreographed little Joker routines all you want - you cannot beat a good old fashioned sing song. (rugby, but meh, you get the idea.) Edit: what a shocking list, though. Very predictable.

Edit: what a shocking list, though. Very predictable. It always looks to be buzzing whenever I see the Six Nations on TV. Surely the Millennium Stadium wouldn't make that place in the list purely on its merits as a stadium for good football atmosphere though, which is the criteria the list sets?
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 27 December 2008 Posted 27 December 2008 Fenerbahce are nicely lodged in between Hull and Raith Rovers. Dear God.
Jordan Posted 27 December 2008 Posted 27 December 2008 "An atmosphere is a layer of gases that may surround a material body of sufficient mass." Well, now I know how they came up with that list.
Daggers Posted 27 December 2008 Posted 27 December 2008 Bollocks being written in the Daily Mail? I simply can't believe it!
Fez of Mahrez Posted 27 December 2008 Posted 27 December 2008 The Mestalla and Bombonera just pipped by Sheffield ****ing Wednesday!! Oh and PSG - Toulouse (run-of-the-mill French League game on a weeknight) had a far better atmosphere than any league game I have ever been to in England.
Finnegan Posted 27 December 2008 Posted 27 December 2008 RE: Millenium Stadium & football, I doubt it's there for Wales' home games. I imagine it's been put up with the FA Cup in mind.
Floating Fox Posted 28 December 2008 Posted 28 December 2008 Even the facts listed bellow the pictures are rubbish. The Toon army aren't housed in the Gallowgate end, its the Leazes corner! And Old Trafford isn't Englands biggest stadium. The Nou Camp is ****ing woefull as well, quieter than the walkers for most games.
