davieG Posted 14 November 2006 Posted 14 November 2006 Source O'er Plymouth boss slams Foxes star 17:03 November, 14, 2006 Ian Holloway has told Leicester City striker Iain Hume to keep his nose out of Argyle affairs Hume was quoted as saying after Saturday's 2-2 draw at the Walkers Stadium: "Defending so high up the pitch as they did is a gamble. "Fair enough, we were miles offside at times, but not all the time and the idea of giving the benefit of the doubt to the attacking side seems to have gone out of window." Holloway blasted back, telling the Plymouth Herald: "Normally, we go quite deep when we need to, or we play it high when we need to. "For their first goal we got it wrong. "Who does he (Hume) think he is, criticising us? He wants to sort his own team out before he starts talking about ours."
Solihullfox Posted 14 November 2006 Posted 14 November 2006 Why does Humey need to sort our team out, is he the new manager or something, sometimes Holloway says stupid things, albeit most of the things he says are funny.

Thracian Posted 14 November 2006 Posted 14 November 2006 Who is Hume? Seems to me he's a bloke who's expressed his opinion. You might have thought the Plymouth boss could have worked that out without asking. Besides, Holloway's hardly a shrinking violet when it comes to viewpoint.
Maybes Posted 14 November 2006 Posted 14 November 2006 when hume is on form he can say anything he wants.
Chimp Posted 14 November 2006 Posted 14 November 2006 Hume was quoted as saying after Saturday's 2-2 draw at the Walkers Stadium: "Defending so high up the pitch as they did is a gamble. "Fair enough, we were miles offside at times, but not all the time and the idea of giving the benefit of the doubt to the attacking side seems to have gone out of window." Surely this is a criticism against the officials, not against the tactics. Trust Holloway t get the wrong end of the stick. Idiot.
Flexx Posted 14 November 2006 Posted 14 November 2006 Surely this is a criticism against the officials, not against the tactics. Trust Holloway t get the wrong end of the stick. Idiot. You can't call Holloway an idiot just for saying that. I think it's funny - 'Who does he think he is? he should sort his own team out' is hardly that offensive is it. In fact he's right our team does need sorting out more than theres does. But we'll show them who's team needs sorting out after Milan takes over at the return fixture.
filbertway Posted 14 November 2006 Posted 14 November 2006 Surely this is a criticism against the officials, not against the tactics. Trust Holloway t get the wrong end of the stick. Idiot. Yes but he is questioning holloways tactics?
lcfc_jme Posted 14 November 2006 Posted 14 November 2006 Holloway is a plank. Hume can say anything he wants as long as he's working hard and banging in the goals Plymouth weren't that great against us, and Holloway needs to realise this
Louise Posted 14 November 2006 Posted 14 November 2006 Good thing we didn't get Holloway as manager then, as Hume would be saying this to his face
lookwhaticando Posted 14 November 2006 Posted 14 November 2006 Surely this is a criticism against the officials, not against the tactics. Trust Holloway t get the wrong end of the stick. Idiot. How is it a criticism of the officials? Did the officials make Plymouth defend higher up the pitch?
Milky Posted 14 November 2006 Posted 14 November 2006 he's hardly slammed him has he. just a bit of jiggery pokery
Scow Posted 14 November 2006 Posted 14 November 2006 It was just an observation fom Hume - nothing wrong with that. The way Holloway has reacted says it all.
shen Posted 14 November 2006 Posted 14 November 2006 How is it a criticism of the officials? Did the officials make Plymouth defend higher up the pitch? No, but he does say that he feels the notion of giving attackers the benefit of the doubt in near-offside situations has gone out the window. That's a criticism of the officials.
Durnerz Posted 14 November 2006 Posted 14 November 2006 After the way Holloways cheating bunch played against us last season at the Walkers Stadium hes got no right to challenge what anyone says about his tactics.
samcobblin Posted 14 November 2006 Posted 14 November 2006 Its just an observation by Hume that was quoted in the media like an observation by me that Ian Holloway is a jumped up bald twat
AyewJoking Posted 14 November 2006 Posted 14 November 2006 Yay, its about time we had a new villian. I'm bored of Dennis Wise and Peter Taylor.
Brummie-FOX Posted 14 November 2006 Posted 14 November 2006 Foxes star slams Plymouth Boss 17:03 November, 14, 2006 Iain Hume has told Plymouth Argyle manager Ian Holloway to keep his nose out of Leicester City's affairs Holloway was quoted as saying after Saturday's 2-2 draw at the Walkers Stadium: "Defending so high up the pitch as they did is a gamble. "Fair enough, they were miles offside at times, but not all the time and the idea of giving the benefit of the doubt to the attacking side seems to have gone out of window." Hume blasted back, telling the Leicester Mercury: Usually I think Holloway is always full of sh**. "Who does he Holloway think he is, criticising us? He wants to sort his own team out before he starts talking about ours."
Chimp Posted 14 November 2006 Posted 14 November 2006 No, but he does say that he feels the notion of giving attackers the benefit of the doubt in near-offside situations has gone out the window. That's a criticism of the officials. Thank you. I'm glad someone else took the time to read the quote properly. The only thing Hume said about the tactics were that they were a gamble - this isn't a criticism but an obvious statement of fact. Playing a high back line can cost goals, ergo, it's a gamble, as was perfectly displayed on Saturday by Hume. I'll still maintain Holloway is an idiot for misrepresenting and misunderstanding Hume's comments.

C-man Posted 14 November 2006 Posted 14 November 2006 After the way Holloways cheating bunch played against us last season at the Walkers Stadium hes got no right to challenge what anyone says about his tactics. Judging by some of Hayles' diving and cheating on Saturday, he hasn't changed at all. ****.
The People's Hero Posted 15 November 2006 Posted 15 November 2006 Definitely not the words of someone who is bitter about not getting this job....
