The Owls Sell out - they're after more tickets

The Owls' trip to the Walkers Stadium to take on Leicester City is set to be the biggest game of the season for both teams - and Wednesday fans are flocking in their numbers.

Wednesday's initial allocation of 3,200 have already sold out at the Owls' ticket office, proving demand is huge for what will be a key game for both teams who are fighting against relegation.

The clash, on Saturday April 6, is also the Owls' final away match of the season - which usually witnesses a big travelling support for Wednesday no matter what the circumstances.

Wednesday could well be set for another batch of tickets with demand for away seats being high, although there is no confirmation as yet, and with Leicester also desperate for the points the Foxes could well be set for a full house at the Walkers Stadium.

And no doubt Wednesday fans will be looking for a repeat scoreline to that of last season at the Walkers - a 4-1 drubbing of the side now managed by Ian Holloway.

:crylaugh: They'll have to give the tickets away for us to fill the ground.

I hope they choose to do that rather than give the Wednesday support even more strength.

I would hope so too, but we are owned by Milan Mandaric. If giving them more tickets will help boost his bank balance then we'll be having a few more visitors from up north.

Best away support in this league by miles.

What will happen to N Block then?

Not being biased but I would agree. Even after years of under-achievement and watching shite football we still turn out in incredible numbers all over the country. The downside of it is it can make getting tickets for a lot of away matches tricky.

:) Nice to see some recognition.

If MM's priority for the match was to help his bank balance he'd probably have chosen an all City crowd. He'll be governed by football authority guidelines, custom and practice etc.

Mandaric has his faults but I don't see that wishing to make money from his investment is one of them. Benefactors are scarce in professional football and most people would want to see a proper return and that includes the fans if it were they were they who were stumping up the millions.

Anyone can champion benevolence or sacrifice when it's not their money being risked.

Alot better than united fans! To be fair you do have good support both home and away.

They have to give a certain percentage to away fans.

I agree Sheff Wed away fans are the best in the league, thats why I hope they stay up (not at the expense of us of course).

We need more fans like them in the league.

I think a few teams have applied for extra tickets in the past but the requests have been turned down.

To be honest, with it being our final home game I think there will be quite a high demand from Leicester supporters so I can't see it happening.

Could be wrong though.

Depends on it being likely to be a party or a wake.

I suppose it depends on whether we are relegated, safe or are depending on that match.

Does anybody know where I'll be moved to from N block if they do get more tickets?

We have a higher average gate than Wednesday. In fact, we have the third highest average gate in the league behind Sheffield United and Norwich, so I don't know why you are mocking our home attendance.

I actually think we could reach the 30.000 mark against Wednesday.

You have a very good home support and you always turn up in big numbers. Considering the last few years you've had as well it's very commendable. It's a massive game for both of us and I expect you to sell, or nearly sell out your allocation.

The only reason the pigs have had as many 'fans' as they have this year is because their chairman offered them discounted Premiership return season tickets. :crylaugh: Shame that hasn't worked out. I guarantee their crowds will be a lot less next season when the woodwork fans have gone back.

There are reasons for our poor home attendances this season too. We're averaging about 5000 less this season than we did when we were in League 1. Read my comment in the other thread and you'll see why. It's not because of performances on the pitch. I know a number of people who go to away games only and will continue to so until certain things have changed and certain people have gone from the club.

I'm mocking the article, although I can see how it seems I'm taking a pop at our attendance. You're right our home attendances are admirable, but we won't be close to selling out unless the ticket prices are vastly reduced.

Bit ofa stupid remark considering weve sold out around 24000 for every home game.

Where are these extra 8,000 going to come from then for us to sell-out unless tickets are given away? Just because it is an important game people don't want to be spending £25 on a ticket to watch what is likely to be a poor quality game.

I know what you mean. If we had a board like yours then I surely wouldn't be giving my money to them. Isn't there supposed to be some sort of a take over of your club, or am I hearing things?

Our home attendance is quite admirable considering the fact that we've been fighting relegation for the past 4 seasons. I fear if things don't change next season (provided that we stay up of course) and we are fighting yet another relegation battle this time next year then I see us dropping in numbers big time. And add that to the increased Season Ticket prices - A lot of people already have decided to not re new their ST.

You've got to admire the Wednesday support, they're always backed in numbers wherever they go.

Ok they have the history of a big club and an old fanbase but not many clubs would keep their fans in the way Wednesday have.

There are supposedly 2 parties interested in the club who are in negotiations at the moment. One of them has gone through the due diligence process. That is all I know because it's being kept under wraps, so it's just a case of wait and see. I have my fingers, toes and everything crossed. We have massive potential as a club and it's about time IMO that we had people running it who will do it justice and treat the fans with respect.

Staying up is crucial for both of us. If we can get that out of the way you never know what is round the corner next season. I take it MM has already announced that your ST prices will be going up next year?

Got huge respect for Wednesday's away support and also their home despite them playing in a half full Hillsborough every week.

Easily the best fans in the league for me and I think they'll come to the walkers and win although this after we've beaten col u and Barnsley (touchwood!) >_<

Meaning both stay up, which for me would be good for the league.

Don't give them anymore... the last thing we want is more Wednesday fans in to cheer on there team
I hope they choose to do that rather than give the Wednesday support even more strength.

All I can say is I hope Soton or covscum are down before this fixture. Oh dear
