Daggers Posted 20 April 2008 Posted 20 April 2008 I heard that Milan is getting Thierry Henry in as player-manager and giving him a £50,000,000 spending kitty. Also, ticket prices are going to be halved as a thank you to the support and the third strip to be launched next season will be red.

Daggers Posted 20 April 2008 Posted 20 April 2008 Nice try Bob but Red kit absolutely no chance!!! It has to be true - I read it on the internet
Gaspipe Posted 20 April 2008 Posted 20 April 2008 does anyone else feel ill after reading about mandaric...if this is true then the geezer's clearly mad. infact M & M must stand for MadMan. why would you buy a club if you ain't got any funds!
dave the caveman Posted 20 April 2008 Posted 20 April 2008 Just got back from a holiday in Serbia. Speaking to a young shoe-shine boy who told me he once cleaned the shoes of a man who claimed to be a former employee of MM. Apparently this employee, who goes by the name of Willz Container, was something of a spunge for MMs new business ideas. Anyway, cut to the chase, shoe shine boy hears about these rumours and goes searching for Mr Container around the entrance to his office block. After a day or two of waiting around he finds him and asks about MM. Willz Container replies: "Yeah boy, I've spoke to MM, he's already sold Leicester, sold it for 40 million pounds, and a few goats. He's well chuffed. I asked him why he got such a good deal, and who he sold it to. He told me he has sold it to a new business set up by Tenzing Norgay and NASA. Apparently they reckon Leicester have the perfect player for scaling mountains on other planets. I asked him who, of course, and he just laughed and told me that it was Elvis Hammond, of course."

True or not I'm sure he never expected to be in our current situation, I doubt also that he anticipared spending anything like the suggested £11 mill in fact in the take over talks a figure of £4.5 mill was clearly stated as the investemnt for this year. Despite the gates holding up reasonably well he might also have expected the higher gates that would have come with a play-off place firmly established for the best part of a season with the potential added bonus of a trip to Wembley. Besides it's not that he doesn't have the money more that he chooses only to 'waste' so much of it on LCFC, he quite rightly has to determine what the chances are of recouping any outlay.
teblin Posted 20 April 2008 Posted 20 April 2008 I get the feeling there is some truth in this, hopefully not the admin part but that MM wants out. Just by the fact you haven't heard him say alot for a few weeks.
Shrenchel Posted 20 April 2008 Posted 20 April 2008 I'm dubious. Milan talked about getting into the prem within three seasons. Therefore surely he'd budgeted for this season to not be a complete success. Obviously he didn't expect us to be kicking around near the bottom but I don't see how we woulda made a great deal more money with a decent top half finish. A couple more thousand through the gates for certain matches, but nothing spectacular I'd imagine. Of course it's a different story if we get relegated though.
Webbo Posted 20 April 2008 Posted 20 April 2008 People are working on the assumption that we're MM's only business interest. Maybe some of his other businesses are struggling in the current climate and he's not as well off as he once was.

Maybe some of his other businesses are struggling in the current climate and he's not as well off as he once was. yes indeed , added to that , he is getting older and seemingly more impatient,. Perhaps he realises he's made a massive mistake and just wants to cut his losses before we become a money pit ( if not already ) the level of wealth that he is at could almost guarantee success a few years ago, but it takes a lot more now maybe this realisation has dawned on him
Thracian Posted 20 April 2008 Posted 20 April 2008 Mirror and People reporting that MM wants out, says we are approaching financial meltdown and MM is getting short of funds, admin beckons, this season!Hope this is just papers making mischief. Also said on radio that Martin George was at the game yesterday after a long absence, could the two be connected????? You could hope so, I suppose. I cannot see any way that our debut won't be escalating. And with banks etc becoming seriously cagey about releasing funds the situation could, I believe, become very serious indeed and we won't be the only club with worries aplenty for the same reasons. Martin George, who I believe has helped sponsor the Academy for some time, would be the most obvious man to turn to in a crisis being as close to the club as anyone and by all accounts, soundly liquid, financially, as well. He perhaps wouldn't be everyone's choice but I'd doubt there'd be a queue in present economic circumstances. Whether he'd be interested and whether the price would be right is another matter.
kevinwpratt Posted 20 April 2008 Posted 20 April 2008 I know you should'nt believe everythign you hear in the paper but a lad a work jsut shown me a section on leicester in the people newspaper talking about us going into administration and having points deducted. has anybody else seen it??? and if so do you know whats going on??? I think this could be a business decision, if it looks like we are going to be relegated he would put us into administration to wipe out a large amount of debt and by then a ten point deduction will be irrelivant (like Leeds) He wouldn't do it if it looks like we are staying up as the ten point deduction will either relegate us or we start on -10 next season

Short & Curlies springs to mind.
reynard Posted 20 April 2008 Posted 20 April 2008 Firstly we don't know whether this is true or not. Secondly going into administration would only be an option if the ownership of the club meant that the people owed money could not claim against the personal wealth of the individual owning said club. As sole owner (which I believe MM is) then it is possible the club could legally be counted as part of his personal fortune thus jeopardising said fortune if one of his buinesses under his sole ownership goes into amdministration. Of course this all depends on how the club is structured. One would hope the foxes trust would have something constructive to say on this but somehow I doubt it. The worrying aspect is that the Mirror has been correct before. However, it could be true MM wants out and is leaking some stuff to attract possible buyers. We also simply don't know the level of debt. Also if the financial situation was so bad how come money was found for the signing of Bell and others and how come mattock wasn't sold for the reutedly offered 1.5million? Let's hope it is not true for administration could well spell the end of the club as we know it with the sale of any potentially decent players and a return to the premiership put on hold for several more years if ever.

Well he's had several "opportunities" to put himself forward recently but has hardly appeared over the hill on his white charger has he?
STUHILL Posted 20 April 2008 Posted 20 April 2008 Load of rubbish!! We would have seen much earlier signs of this if true, you dont go broke over night and especially not when your a businessman like MM. He would have known weeks and months in advance, but yet he hasnt sold any players, plus he has sanctioned moves for any players Ollie wanted, most recently Bell. Don't forget MM is multi millionaire, 75million or more. Plus he isnt stupid, he wont have spend all this money in the transfer market without knowing the long-term outcomes if we fail to gain promotion this year or next. Papers trying to stir up a fuss as they see we're struggling in league.

Daggers Posted 20 April 2008 Posted 20 April 2008 The worrying aspect is that the Mirror has been correct before. However, it could be true MM wants out and is leaking some stuff to attract possible buyers. Don't be daft. You seriously think that he is leaking how broke he is and what a precarious state the club is in just to try to attract potential buyers? "We're really stuffed and so I will take any offers - come on people, financially rape me!" Not a hope in hell.
