Mr Happy Posted 23 May 2008 Posted 23 May 2008 Wheres the 'other' option?? I wanted our next gaffer to be..... Darth Vader Well he certainly wouldn't stand for any sh-ite from the players.
Thracian Posted 23 May 2008 Posted 23 May 2008 I wouldn't be against Grayson's appointment because he's a man who's easy to underestimate but I'm not convinced he's got the flair we need. Yes, his team will be organised and efficient. They will function fine and he'll have a sound dressing room. But we really do have to change our emphasis and I feel Royle will be more likely to do that than Grayson. Blackpool weren't prolific scorers last season - 59 they got, which wasn't bad but was less than 1.5 a game and we'll need more than that. He did get people scoring from more positions than we did though but, overall, I'd have more confidence in Royle. Looks like a two-horse race up to now though - and neither of them bad candidates by any means.
Tommeh Posted 23 May 2008 Posted 23 May 2008 Tilson or Grayson would do me. Also like the idea of Lambert.
Manwell Pablo Posted 23 May 2008 Posted 23 May 2008 RUUSSEELL SLLADDEEE. But thats just me. from that list...pfft hold on let me look. Newell I reckon, no wasted money on release fees, can get Howard playing, knows the league.
Jordan Posted 23 May 2008 Posted 23 May 2008 I'd like Mike Newell, but as I've written before, there's no way Mr. I Hate Scumbag Agents, Corrupt Chairman and Female Assistant Referees would ever work for Mr. I Love to Launder Money and Give It to Agents, nor would the former ever hire the latter.

Looks like a two-horse race up to now though - and neither of them bad candidates by any means. Grayson had very little to work with - virtually the same squad from the promotion season, plus some shrewd loan signings (Dickov being a case in point). Despite this Blackpool still managed to score SEVENTEEN more league goals than we did. They were slso promoted from League One with some style. I'd like to think that's what Grayson would go for with the quality of players that will be at his disposal here. He would also have the chance and the hunger to take us onwards and upwards to the Premier league, and hopefully to keep us there. I'm not sure Royle, at this stage of his career, would have that.
iancognito Posted 24 May 2008 Posted 24 May 2008 Lambert Ince Grayson Newell In that order. Though, whoever gets the job, I hope they're allowed to buy their own players not just the ones Mandaric has read about at the time.

Would we have to change our stadium name to The Death Star? I'd love to see Grayson here, whether we get him or not is an entirely different matter
Joe. Posted 24 May 2008 Posted 24 May 2008 Newell all the way. But let's face it- it's just not going to happen.
Musty Posted 24 May 2008 Posted 24 May 2008 I know its annoying but i can't reveal my sources...but for what its worth Billy Davies says he knows nothing about it - though i guess he would say that wouldn't he - and the word is it will be Paul Lambert
Guest Posted 24 May 2008 Posted 24 May 2008 Brian Little. Them were the days Can't beat a bit of a nostalgic appointment
act smiley Posted 24 May 2008 Posted 24 May 2008 Grayson would be my first choice. Money seems rather underrated - he might not have made the playoffs, but he gave it a good shot after taking them up last season and lost a couple of important players.
Lichfieldfox. Posted 24 May 2008 Posted 24 May 2008 Of that lot I'd go for Royal. In reality Paul Ince or Billy Davies for me. I know nothing about Lambert so going to read that thread next!
Master Fox Posted 24 May 2008 Posted 24 May 2008 It's got to be the one and only Peter Reid. I've been saying it for years now.
Neil_LCFC Posted 24 May 2008 Posted 24 May 2008 Billy Davies but he isn't on the list for some reason.
