davieG Posted 24 May 2008 Posted 24 May 2008 For the things he has said in the past... the way he is with the team. He looks and sounds like a bully and not someone that actually has any tactical nouse or ability to be able to get a team playing football...He failed at Luton... why would he be any better here? He did say some unfortunate things re lady refs but he seems a man of integity putting his career on the line exposing bungs etc. I thought his managerial career had been quite successful and that he had a decent reputation re attacking football and tactics and I certainly wouldn't say he failed at Luton when he had all his best players sold from under him. Looking and sounding like a bully doesn't make him one and surely it's somewhat unfair to judge someone by how they look. Oh well it's all just opinions and we wont have any say in who is recruited.

Fair enough. It is unfair to judge them on how they look and normally I wouldn't mind... but he really creeps me out... If he comes in, I won't be happy but I'll support Leicester... not him. I just hope we find someone who can actually turn us around and sort us out properly... I just can't see him doing that really.

He seems one of the few who's prepared to put his head above the parapet and express a genuine opinion. Seems to me that, as I predicted, he's been cold-shouldered by football for doing no more than tell the truth about bungs and express his personal feelings about women officials. It's funny how people are so happy with free speech so long as the speakers only say what's approved of.
FilboFox Posted 24 May 2008 Posted 24 May 2008 Who the bledy hell is Martin Ling? I also was wondering that...
ASH17LCFC Posted 24 May 2008 Posted 24 May 2008 I seen Steve Agnew walking in tesco today. I asked him if he still keeps in touch with the club and he told me he was on his way down the walkers. Matt Posted 24 May 2008 Posted 24 May 2008 Who the bledy hell is Martin Ling? I also was wondering that... I've never heard of him but done a search - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Ling Currently Leyton Orient manager.

Steveiefox Posted 24 May 2008 Posted 24 May 2008 I like the sound of Paul Lambert. Good chance he would bring Neil Lennon with him. He took him to Wycombe a couple of months back before Lennon went back to Celtic.

You ought to phone that into RL so that more people can have a good laugh.

Sandman Posted 24 May 2008 Posted 24 May 2008 sorry to say this, but who was that ex england man who uses an umbrella and said a few weeks ago if the right deal came along.........
Number 6 Posted 24 May 2008 Posted 24 May 2008 I think I am beyond caring, I was filled with some optimism before today but now Ollie has gone, and looking at the list of potential replacements, I am very worried.
maddog Posted 24 May 2008 Posted 24 May 2008 Walsh I can't believe another new manager. First Martin Allens army, then Gerry Taggarts, then Gary Megsons, then Ollie's and now another new manager all in one season. Go new manager go
THEfox Posted 24 May 2008 Posted 24 May 2008 get me joe royle on the phone now! the only serious candidate for the job (or possibly give steve clarke a go?). why would grayson want to leave behind what he's created at blackpool for the uncertainty that managing our club brings

Holloway will never have to work again.
Durnerz Posted 24 May 2008 Posted 24 May 2008 I'm going for Mike Newell, got Luton up playing some great football, knows the league also and has proved he can keep a side in the Championship, just a shame he had a dirty chairman at Luton eh! (Wonder how Newell and Mandy would get on but hey, thats another story). Plus with the Leicester connection Newell has too I hope he would feel more for this club than Holloway did, also with Newell being the more realistic option than say, Billy Davies. As Scoweh said, it won't be Ince or Ferguson, both at clubs with a large treasure chest and chairmen that love them.
Webbo Posted 24 May 2008 Posted 24 May 2008 Grayson is certainly a serious contender for the job. He'd earn more money here and we certainly have more potential than Blackpool.

He took him to Wycombe a couple of months back before Lennon went back to Celtic. No doubt Lambert has had a good season at Wycombe but look at one fans view of it: Our problem again has been the final product, we've only scored 56 goals for our 78 points and McGleish got nearly 50% of those which is amazing considering the service he has received! We lack real pace up front and have no width at all. Different names same $hit
SamL Posted 24 May 2008 Posted 24 May 2008 Grayson is certainly a serious contender for the job. He'd earn more money here and we certainly have more potential than Blackpool. Those who are thinking Walsh, Grayson would be perfect. Ex player, would inject much needed passion and already has the experience. He's definitely one of the better options. I'm not sure whether he'd step down a division but it all comes down to the money.
Mickey O'Neil Posted 24 May 2008 Posted 24 May 2008 sorry to say this, but who was that ex england man who uses an umbrella and said a few weeks ago if the right deal came along......... Don't say that! You'll get Raj excited!!!! Anyway, I hope he's off to Twente.
