Northampton Player Ratings.

Martin 5 - Command your chuffing area.

Hobbs 6 - Defended well, but seemed to put every header out for a throw.

Mattock 6 - Tried to support the attack when he could, Martins poor throw earned him a booking.

Kisnorbo 6 - Glad he's back, solid defending, passed the ball well (not that it matters so much)

Tunch 6 - Same as Kisnorbo really, too good for this league.

Gradel 6 - Tried to make things happen, bit hard when every other player is static.

Dyer 5 - Should have scored, looked dangerous at times.

Oakley 5 - At times their was some good play, but nearly cost us a point at the end.

King 5 - Very sloppy today, Oakley was better, but not by much.

Fryatt 4 - Greedy bastard, I always raise the point that he needs to release the ball earlier than he does, on 3 occasions today he was far to greedy and the possible opening came to nothing, as for that miss, dear me.

Howard 5 - Won a lot in the air, why Howard was brought off instead of Fryatt I don't know.

Berner 5 - Will be a useful squad player.

In a game where no-one really stood out, we have out 2 centre backs to thank for dealing with high balls and strength. We had 2 clear cut chances to win the game, but failed to do so. We have only ourselves to blame. Both tame shots didn't even trouble the keeper at all.

I'm seeing it as a point gained, when i really know, that it's 2 points dropped.

Agree with all except Gradel's 6.

Id have said 2 or 3!

Very Very over-rated IMO, he's got the fancy footwork and the haircut but seems to do no more than give the ball away, I dont see any threat to the opposition whatsoever.

Im gobsmacked he wasnt brought off for Adams who I think is a far better player!

Hobbs 4

Tunc 5

Kisnorbo 5

Mattock 5

The whole defence looked nervy and panicky but Hobbs in particular was awful being beat in the air every time until the 80th minute or there abouts.

Gradel 6

Oakley 6

King 5

Dyer 5

Fryatt 4

Howard 4

Berner 6

Harry Bayles 5

That has to be as inept a display of football that I've seen for quite sometime bearing in mind the ability of the players and the opposition, I don't even think it was a case of not trying they were just so bad.

So you think Fryatt was better than Gradel

Martin 5 - I just have no confidence in him. Don't get me strated on the throw to mattock or his positioning for free kicks - thank god Northampton couldnt hit the target.

Hobbs 5 - Ok in defence, doesnt offer much in attack. We missed Gilbert.

Mattock 5 - Better going forward than he is in defence - better than Powell? Questionable at the moment.

Kisnorbo 7 - Pretty solid I thought and good battle with Akinfenwa in the first half.

Tunch 7 - Standard Tunchev performance. Solid and nothing of note wrong.

Gradel 6 - His balls in were better but I think he needs Gilbert or another player as his get out clause and to draw a defender away.

Dyer 5 - Great chance missed. Didnt offer too much

Oakley 5 - Not as many bad passes as King but he went absent too.

King 4 - One good pass through to Fryatt is all i can recall from him apart from giving the ball away.

Fryatt 3 - What a miss. And then summed it up by shooting from distance when he could have played Hayles or Dyer in. Worst Ive seen him? Possibly!

Howard 5 - Won a lot in the air but whats the point if no one is making the runs?

Berner 6 - Impressed me and he'd be ahead of Mattock in my book. Looked promising going forward and can use both feet.... can he play at right back?

Pretty much agree with that.

I bet £1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 that Fryatt gets flop of the match.

Him and King were god awful today. But Fryatt deserves it more for being a) shitter b) a total greedy bastard.

Martin 4 - No communication - talk to your defenders, that's why you have a mouth! He'd better be dropped soon!

Hobbs 4 - A real poor game for his standards, he lost nearly every header to a player half his size!

Tunchev 8 - A class apart, won everything and had Hawley and Akinfenwa quaking in their boots! Such a solid player!

Kisnorbo 7 - See Tunch. One great covering tackle.

Mattock 6 - Fairly average, supported Dyer a lot more than Powell would but often loses it and we're exposed at the back.

Gradel 5 - Got the pace and skill - even the hair but bloody hell - stop complicating everything! Get the ball in first time. Would prefer to see Adams.

Oakley 6 - Got stuck in and won his share of the ball but twice made poor errors towards the end: 1) where they had a 2 on 2 in the dying minutes and 2) when Dyer could have been played in but the pass was poor.

King 6 - Unlucky to have the goal disallowed but at times passing and control is a bit dosey.

Dyer 7 - Very lively game but it seems that he plays better away from home for some reason!

Fryatt 5 - I don't know what to say! Was lively to start with, chased everything down but then 2nd half! Shocker!

Howard 6 - Why do people boo him?!?! Won headers but nobody was there for the flick-ons. To those that boo him: Name a replacement targetman who will do a better job than Howard and is affordable and will come to us? Get off his back you morons!

Berner 7 - Looked very good, VERY strong and great going forward - I liked what I saw.

Bazza 5 - We were desperate lol

My team for Brighton:

Hendo

Gilbert/Morrison Tunch Kisnorbo Berner

Adams King Oakley Dyer

Fryatt Howard

Also, we need a creative Centre midfielder who can break down defences!

Total garbage - worse than the Walsall game.

Martin - 5 - My confidence in him is steadily declining game by game.

Hobbs - 6 - Looked ok at RB. Probably because he didn't have much defending to do. Played the ball out of play too much when a better option was available though.

Tunchev - 8 - How long will he stay?

Kisnorbo - 6.5 - Clearly showed that he is not as good as Tunchev. But solid nonetheless coming back from injury. Aimless balls forward though - not a lot changes there.

Mattock - 6 - Did ok. Tried to get forward to support Dyer.

Gradel - 5 - Nothing of note happened. Not even a decent corner today.

Oakley - 3 - Manages to be even more uninfluential than Clemence. That is a feat in itself.

King - 3 - Did nothing.

Dyer - 5 - Some good runs forward but tended to overrun the ball.

Howard - 5 - Yet again he is singled out for booing. Why? He is far from the worst out there.

Fryatt - 3 - Greedy. If the boo boys are going to boo anyone, why not him? (Not only is it wrong to boo, they boo the wrong player!)

Subs:

Berner - 6 - He looked quite bright. Put some ok balls in.

Hayles - 5 - Not a lot happened.

After this I am becoming increasingly concerned. Apparently we have 'a big squad' but the bench did little to inspire any attacking options. We needed a good reaction to the disappointment on Tuesday and were given nothing.

It might be wrong to boo the team, and I'm not supporting it, but when you're shelling out £23 a ticket to watch this? What do you expect? 22,500 are not going to go away clapping and cheering in unison.

Martin 6 - Give Hendo a go

Hobbs 6 - only because he is not a right back

Mattock 5 - Brought back too early

Kisnorbo 5 - Distribution or Ideas please

Tunch 8 - MOTM Class and far too good for this club and league

Gradel 5 - Crap again

Dyer 5 - Crap again, awful 1 on 1 miss

Oakley 7 - Another decent game

King 5 - Crap

Fryatt 4 - Greedy bastard, League 1 player massive 1 on 1 miss, what do we pay him for?

Howard 7 - Won a lot in the air, unfortunate to get a calf injury

Berner 6 - made 1 decent conribution when they had a man over.

Martin 5 (A couple of worthwhile saves but two or three potentially calamatous errors including one ill-advised throw-out that led to a booking)

Hobbs 4.5 (His emergency defending proved adequate despite same shaky moments and being caught in possession but he offered nothing going forward, gave crumbs to Gradel in the way of passes and made not one single run that the winger might use to advantage. As a full-back I wouldn't have wanted him in a non-League team).

Tunchev 6 (Caught the City disease by putting so many clearances in the air and may well have been the one caught out at the near post on occasions. Not at his best but we survived).

Kisnorbo 7 (Defensively the kingpin and made one vital sliding block first half which might well have prevented a goal. Offered no ground to any attacker but started getting involved with free-kicks again with his usual inconsequential effect).

Mattock 5.5 (Okay first 25 minutes or so. Needs to regain match fitness)

Gradel 6 (Defensively seemed to lack a bit of heart or confidence but still tried all sorts of ways to make something happen right up to the last couple of minutes. Cynically fouled when cutting in to a trademark shooting postiion, put in a fair few crosses and even beat his man on occasions but couldn't deliver the fatal blow and his day will probably be rememebered more for his mistakes than his efforts to achieve things).

King 6.5 (Steady first half, the most significant point being a touch to get the ball away from their big striker just as was going to let rip for a likely goal. Got forward well in the second, plundered a goal from inside the six yard box which was disallowed for Howard's offside, fed Fryatt the ball he should have scored and did much else of value in a quiet way).

Oakley 6 (Again, put in a decent shift defensively and as a playmaker, maintaining his efforts right up to the end and taking time to gee up others when they cocked up).

Dyer 6.5 (Not a 90 minute effort. Really threatened for 20 minutes of the first half hour and spasmodically thereafter but missed a golden chance and was never quite as dangerous after that.).

Howard 5 (Apart from his bog standard flick ons he was rarely a threat. His offside cost us a goal and on the rare occasions he shot he didn't look likely to score).

Fryatt 4.5 (There's no excuses for missing that chance. He's a striker. He's paid to take chances. He didn't even look like scoring and, except very occasionally, the rest of his game and particularly his unwillingness to pass the ball quickly was disappointing).

Subs: Hayles 0 (Hardly had a kick and I've no idea what he was there for).

Berner 4 (For what looked like a fortuitous but vital block near the end which prevented us losing but oh dear, he looked like a schoolboy with seniors for the rest of the time. Running with the ball out of defence and twice being caught in possession is the sort of error you're warned about in primary school. DavieG and friends saw some good things though so I'm going to give him the benefit of my doubts.).

Yeah, I'd go for that as well. Although, I'd give Fryatt a 4.

Martin 5 (Doesn't inspire confidence, never really knows whether to stay on his line or not, distribution not great either)

Hobbs 4 (Made to look pretty poor defensively, never looked comfortable)

Tunchev 5.5 (Could have handled their fat striker better but still made a decent contribution)

Kisnorbo 5.5 (Not anywhere near his best, but considering his injury lay-off, a committed performance)

Mattock 4.5 (So sloppy at times, he's kidding himself if he thinks he off to the Premier League)

Gradel 5 (Hit and miss, excellent skill mixed with poor ball control)

Oakley 2 (Terrible, a laughable captain)

King 3.5 (No invention or craft, plain at best)

Dyer 6 (Only player looked capable of giving them a fright)

Howard 3 (No use to us really, poor awareness)

Fryatt 2 (Rubbish, drag up all the stats you want about his goal record this season, but this guy is substandard)

Berner 5

Hayles 5 (Desperate times call for desperate measures)

Martin - 7 - Looked confident enough to keep his place

Hobbs - 5 - Good in defence, terrible in attack. Definately not a fullback.

Tunchev - 7 - Looked strong and unphased by the Northampton pressure.

Kisnorbo - 6 - Again was assured in defence and marshalled well, but why does he still insist on senselessy hoofing the ball ala stearman?

Mattock - 5 - One of his worst performances; didnt look match fit

Gradel - 7 - Arguably our best player, looked dangerous throughout and should have been given that absolute stonewall.

Oakley - 4 - Completely anonymous until the last 10 minutes, all of our play came through hoofing or down the wings.

King - 3 - If oakley was anonymous, King was in a different city. A waste of space.

Dyer - 6 - Showed some good pace as we've come to expect, but faded.

Fryatt - 5 - Fed off scraps, should have done a million times better with the one-on-one.

Howard - 5- Ditto. At least looked more likely to pass than fryatt.

Berner - 4 - Got frustrated and made a dick of himself sprinting through the middle

Hayles - 3 - Should have stayed at Leicester City Mk. II

Kop - Disgraceful. No support whatsoever.

Pearson - Adams anyone? a first team regular recently, yet Pearson decides not to bring him on when he really might have made a difference at CM.

some of us tried but sadly too many people are just expecting us to roll everyone over in this league
